Great atmosphere and the food was so delicious.
Valet was no where to be found and I had to circle around 2x before finally pulling over to find him. Once we were seated it did take a while to get menus, drinks and order but overall the food was good and the view is really nice. I would go back.
Seemed odd that there weren’t any brunch items on the menu at 11:30 Sunday. Food was fine, but not anything special. Nice setting and interiors with a marvelous view.
Service was non existent. We sat with empty plates in front of us for over 20 minutes before we finally tracked down a server from a different section to bring our check. And this was the pace of the service for our entire evening. We will not be returning.
Great Experience! Food was amazin, servers and management at the restaurant were great! The only complaint was with the Valet Driver who picked up the car after the meal was rude.
I felt that the food was mediocre at best, and the price was unjustifiable for what it was. I appreciated the service and atmosphere, however, those things can be found at other restaurants with more delicious taste.
The service was great from the host to the valet and the server. They were attentive and answered any questions. The only reason I give it a 3 stars is that our food just didn’t seem worth the cost. My steak was over cooked and both dishes felt bland and just needed seasoning. I would probably go again to give it another shot because everything else was so good and just hope the food was a fluke.
Very nice lunch. Outstanding view. I will be back
We were the only diners in the place other than a group in a private room. The food was excellent; crispy Brussels sprouts tossed in house made Kimchee, chicken liver pate on toast with pickled onions; very unique retained the chicken liver flavor while being rounded with a sweet vinegar something and an arugula salad. Beet cured salmon flat bread; beautiful, well balanced and flavorful. House made pasta with mushrooms and chicken; al Dente, sauces perfectly wide variety of earthy mushrooms.
This chef has a deft hand; his flavors pop, his choices are smart and creative. We just did appetizers; portions were large and priced accordingly. I’ll be back for entrees!
I rarely write a review on a restaurant but this experience merits some discussion. We were not familiar with the restaurant and thought we were going to the predeceasor restaurant. The atmosphere was poor. Overly lit, industrial tables nothing nice about it. The table needed a wedge to keep it from rocking. The waitress came back after our drink order to tell us they didn't have the alcohol called for in two of their specialty drinks. They didn't have the bread appetizer. The charcuterie plate was about 5 pounds of Oscar Mayer cold cuts. It was a ridiculous amount of what looked like processed meats. Service was slow and it was not crowded. This was a dining experience we won't soon forget and not in a good way. If you are in business in six months, I hope you take these criticisms in a positive way and improve all aspects of the dining experience.
Lovely setting for a business meeting.
The food was underwhelming, the lighting was poor and a server spilled a drink on me. The entrance was under construction and the side door they used instead felt sloppy and unwelcoming. The whole experience was poor.
Great service! Food was a bit pricey, I mean $16 for one slice of avocado toast kind of pricey. But food was pretty good. Excellent view! And bottomless coffee. Would definitely go again.
This was our first time to Rosswood & have to say, it was one of the best meals we have had out in a very long time!! The food, service & ambiance was not a disappointment. The smoked seafood board was absolutely delicious as was the beet salad & risotto!
We go here every December to watch the Christmas boat parade. Usually a really nice dinner. We had crab cakes, nice steak, and yummy dessert. All were quite tasty.
Problem was, we had to wait forever for every little thing we got or asked for. Even a cocktail to begin with. Waiting isn't so bad if you have a glass of wine up front. And sadly, there were only 3-4 other tables seated so it wasn't like the excuse was that they were crowded. Really dampened our evening.
There are few places on the river in Portland that are more lovely for dining or even just having a cocktail. Sadly, however, this place still struggles with service. Went for Sunday brunch before Christmas, a time when most restaurants would have loaded up on staffing. This place had one cook and one waitress. She did the best she could, but we arrived at 11:00 and got our food at 12:15. If you don't mind drinking coffee or mimosas while waiting indefinitely for your food, once it arrives it is not bad. Nothing great, certainly not worth the wait, but the setting almost makes up for it.
Beautiful venue and service was good, but did not enjoy my meal as much. My dish was bland and nothing special.
Enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet. Included all of the traditional foods with nice dessert selection and cheese. Bloody Mary cocktail station and mimosa options were welcome add-ons. A lovely meal.
The food was very good and plenty of it. Nicely presented. Friendly service. Nice view of the River. Wish there would have been more customers as there was only one other table occupied ( weekday lunch). One annoyance is the valet parking. You have to surrender your keys for the car to be parked literally next to the front door of the restaurant.
The restaurant deserves more customers.
It was for breakfast... service was eh but not a big deal as it’s just breakfast. I was looking forward to the food as I had enjoyed it there previously. Unfortunately they changed the avocado toast and it missed the mark for me with two sauces drizzled all over it. Sauces overpowered it and made it heavy.
We had a family dinner of 10 that was great. Our waitress, Francesca, did a wonderful job.
We were disappointed in the limited menu selection, delayed service and unimpressive bay shrimp salad.
We were surprised at the limited ‘brunch ‘ menu options.... first time there... service, food quality was very good... river view, pathway was in need of cleaning, attention...
Beautiful view of the river from our table, very friendly and helpful bartender and servers. Thank you!
Two of us shared the beet salad, tuna tartare and roasted asparagus. They were all excellent and we will definitely be back.
Coffee was served tepid, as was the food. Service was meh. My biggest issue was the 20% service charge that was tacked on. Make sure you look over your bill-I feel like that should be disclosed verbally. Definitely not written anywhere. Emailed the restaurant to share my experience and never heard back. Won’t be back-
1, and 2 was GREAT 3rd time I wasn't impressed. Sad how one person can make it go south. I believe it was the new bartender (dark complex guy) First: He didn't find our reservation, no biggie, 2: I told we made reservations to go outside. He told me they don't make reservations for outdoors, I said we made clear in our reservation we wanted to seat outside (The view was who brought us to the restaurant) He said they usually grant those. His attitude was just off I asked if he could go check for us that we walnut mind waiting. (I shouldn't have to ask) He made me feel as I was asking too much. Then went outside and talked to the waitress outdoors and moved some chairs and boom there was a table for 5. Told us to follow him but he was serving another table at the same time. So we went straight to our table. Left us there for 30 minutes no water no menus. We were about to leave when my husband went to ask if there was service available for us or we should look for it somewhere. The waitress looked at each other puzzled as no one knew anything. She passed us a ton of times and I guess we were invisible... Anyways not going back.
I really enjoyed the outdoor patio at Rosswood. I like the seasonal menu with lots of local ingredients.
I'll be back. I had lunch but I want to check out their dinner too.
Our service was fantastic and so was the food! We would totally go back any day!
The restaurant itself was too cold with the AC going. Staff were excellent. Great customer service, but the food lacked flavor. I had never had burrata with shaved carrots and sliced cucumbers before and it didn't taste like they go together. Husband said the salmon was bland.
We really enjoyed sitting near the river on the patio. The food was great and the waitress amazing! It all made for a wonderful date night!
Everyone was very nice, and when we were there and sat inside there was almost no one inside so it was very quiet, however the service was VERY slow. One of the dishes was GREAT, but the rest were very so-so. The Ahi Tartare was not very flavorful, and the crackers that came with it were too salty. The Burrata was tasteless... it really needed some balsamic vinegar, which we asked for but they could not find even though one item on the menu has a "balsamic reduction." The "Crispy Potatoes" sound like fries, but they are full-sized small white potatoes, with something on the outside but nothing to put on the inside, not even salt on the table. The side dish of Brussel Sprouts was awesome, no complaints there. One person had the salmon and it was ok. The dessert selection was not very interesting.
Great location and view, however, the food is sub-par. Kitchen having trouble with eggs and had to be sent back. Had few selections and most were spiced too much to order (a negative with avocado toast selection). They do have an old time favorite, the ricotta pancakes. One waitresses incessant clicking on the oder computer with her long nails drove us all crazy. Too bad, a lovely spot.
The location - gorgeous. But couldn’t sit on deck, primary reason we came here because of wasps. Inside no one else was there. Very great service. Very poor food. Very.
Valet always a perk!!
Service and food need improvement.
One of the few good restaurants with a water view. This is an excellent restaurant for a special dinner out, brunch (I've done Mother's day here 2x) and it is particularly great during find weather when the deck is comfortable. We had an excellent recent visit for brunch. Beautiful day on the deck, an excellent server who went out of her way to help us. And the food was terrific. Gushing review? Yes! Get to Rosswood - you won't regret it.
Staff, ambience and food were good. Coffee service was slow and espresso and lattes were mediocre.
It was our 9th wedding anniversary and it was a beautiful warm sunny day. My husband and I wanted someplace with a pretty outdoor area by the river. This place was perfect! We started with the cheese board which was amazing! I had the salmon and my husband had the steak, we were both very pleased with our selections.
The service was great and all around experience was perfect.
We’ll definitely be back
Every course was excellent- really good ingredients.
