Rosso Trattoria Italia
Our experience was overall a really good one. The food was good. I ordered the lamb chops medium. They arrived well done. The waiter forgot to get a sweet tea, so I reminded him once the food came. He got it immediately. My date loved her main course. The Red Velvet chessecake was really a red colored chocolate cake with cream cheese.
The aesthetic inside is very romantic and professional. They served great food, most of which being various forms of chicken in veloute, although they do have other great sounding meals like a few cuts of steak and fish. My date and I got "chicken and dumplings," which was gnocchi; chicken; and peas in veloute, and chicken cacciatore. Both were delicious and I very much enjoyed my dinner. We also had the meatballs appetizer, served with a perfect amount of cheese and sauce, and a "tiramisu classico" that ended up being strawberry, completely unexpected. The waitress was stellar and I ended up talking to a very friendly waiter at some point.
I think the only downside would be the parking lot, which isn't the restaurant's fault but it is something you'll need to be aware of. People will not pay attention and will keep backing up even if they don't have room, or they will close in on the space that other people need to back up without letting them know they are there. Parking was just crazy.
The meal Friday evening was the best meal I have had in Columbia in quite some time. The wine, the appetizers, the entree, and dessert, all excellent, I can’t wait to go back.
The food was amazing; however, our waiter was not very attentive or knowledgeable.
The best cooks there and Matthew our waiter did an excellent job of caring for our needs he was great deserves to be manager. His knowledge of wine and pairing with my meal was spot on! Excellent service can’t say enough. And the gentleman who first served us to our seat was a very sweet and handsome man!
Although I love dining at this restaurant, the service this time was not good. I ordered an appetizer which never arrived before the entree, causing me to cancel it.
Valentines and Birthday celebration.
Food was GREAT! Very good overall experience. Not sure if server was new but we were never offered bread, pepper, etc. as other guests were. Server was very friendly, however.
Literally amazing. No other words are needed.
We went for Valentine’s Day and thoroughly enjoyed our experience! We started with a few cocktails and the charcuterie board. I had the lobster tail for my main entree and my boyfriend had the lamb chops. For desert we split the lemon basil creme brûlée. All of it was incredible! We will definitely be coming back!
The best drinks ever! The best food ever! Love this restaurant
Will be back soon. Excellent in every way. Love the atmosphere.
The food and service was absolutely marvelous! The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable.
I don’t normally write reviews but this one is deserving. I can’t speak highly enough about my experience at Rosso. From the moment we entered the door we were greeted with a warm and friendly smile. Our server Ryan, who is actually a bartender, made our experience one to remember. I started off with the Spinach and Feta Salad that had pickled red onions and cherry tomatoes and a red wine vinaigrette-wow it was awesome! The salad was perfectly tossed with dressing and looked very appealing. We had some fresh bread right out of the oven and used the olive oil and balsamic blend to dip. My entree is what really blew me away. I had the chicken cacciatore with buttered parsnips and asparagus. This is by far the best cacciatore I have ever eaten and I have eaten a lot! I must compliment the chef for the beautiful plating and contrasting flavors. The chicken was basically “fork tender” and wonderful. I didn’t have room for dessert because the portions were perfect. Let me mention a bit about the service. Ryan told us about some of the signature cocktails he had been working on and we were very impressed with the description and they were wonderful. His wine knowledge really impressed my business associate joining me for dinner. Ryan’s service was exceptional from beginning to end. He helped us decide on our entrees and answered all of our questions! The manager also stopped by to chat with us and he was very nice to talk to. I will be returning soon for another dinner and I would like to add that I would give more than 5 stars if I could because this restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way!
The bartender was awesome and the place was beautiful.. I enjoyed it as lot..
Terrible. Menu is uninspired and horribly overpriced. Food was boring and bland. The service was fine once they noticed us sitting there without drinks, but that took ten minutes. Find somewhere else. Anywhere else.
Food excellent, Jake was an excellent waiter and will ask for him at our next visit.
We go to this restaurant on average about 1-2 times a month and have noticed that the regular patrons no longer come, staff has changed, bar tender gone and the place has a new owner (who never smiles). Tonight we were told that the “prices and things have changed here”. We were shocked by the bill for a happy hour special pizza. The service was poor and we were one of three couples in the whole place. I don’t know how they can stay open with the few customers in the place. They need an attitude and price adjustment. We won’t be going back.
It was our first time coming here to celebrate a birthday. Everything was wonderful from the moment we were greeted to the time we left. We are definitely coming back.
Rosso has something for everyone to enjoy. I love the bolognese and my teenager always gets a pizza. We have had consistently delicious meals there. It can get a little noisy when the place is full but it’s a good energy feel. Sitting at the community table with friends for apps and cocktails is great when you can not get a reservation.
Although our waitress was bubbly and personable, she struggled to get our order correct. They were out of a few dishes and some wines on the menu. The special appetizer, pork shank ravioli, was not good. It tasted like pork mousse inside an over-fried pasta shell. My dinner guests found their Bolognese to be bland and lacking overall. Although I love their pizzas, I would maybe pick somewhere else to eat next time.
The LBD Trio was fabulous. Must have them there again. I thoroughly enjoyed their music and their lead vocalist Brittany Hammock was amazing. This is definitely a plus for Rosso.
The food was great and our waitress Meghan E. was fabulous, please be sure to let her know.
The salmon that I had was cooked perfectly, as was the asparagus. My husband's shrimp and polenta was also very good. The service was good and the dishes arrival at the table well spaced, not rushed.
We arrived on time and were seated within a few minutes. We were given 2 small glasses of water and ordered a glass of wine and a cocktail. The drinks were delivered in about 15 minutes and the cocktail my husband ordered was incorrect. He questioned the waiter when he delivered it because he ordered a whisky sour and it was clearly not whiskey. We eventually flagged the waiter down to have the drink replaced. Our starters took about 30 minutes for a salad and cold soup. We left after an hour and 15 minutes having never been given additional water or the option for another beverage. Our server was Matthew. This was our first and last visit there.
As I was putting on my coat the waiter came back to fill the water glasses, unfortunately we were on our way out. This is the worst service we have received in the 40 years we have lived in Columbia and I have no intention of ever returning.
We thought we would give it a try again after a couple of years since we understood there was a new menu. It was a mixed bag. The service was super slow on a Friday night which they blamed on staff shortages. At the bar, the kitchen and the front of the house? It was full but still. We had to remind the waiter we were waiting on drinks a couple of times and he was slow to take dinner order. Then the food was really slow. We finally got our salads and then a few minutes later the entrees came out - not ideal. The cauliflower hushpuppies were interesting, but good. The chicken catciotore was good, the salmon was good but the mushroom risotto was not very good. The Caesar salad was inedible because it was covered in grated parm instead of a small bit of shredded parm and the dressing was a little heavy. We will give it another shot but its not nearly as good as when it first opened. Too bad.
Delicious seasonal entrees, and a wine list including many affordable Italian options. The waiter was young (under 21), so just not as polished or experienced as other servers I’ve had at Rosso in the past to make the dining experience more exceptional. Overall, Rosso remains a very pleasant finer dining option.
My husband took me here for my birthday. Claire was the waitress and she was outstanding. The chef is very talented but I would not consider the food to necessarily be Italian which surprised me given the name of the restaurant. It's creative and very good though. I was wished a Happy Birthday and brought a dessert without even asking which was so sweet. We went on a weekday so it was quiet which I loved. I imagine it gets quite crowded on weekends and that's not my scene at all. All in all it was great and we will definitely be back. Thank you for making my birthday special.
The food was great, the service even better. It was New year's so it was a bit packed and the reservations were running late. Other than that it was a great experience.
We’ve dined here many times, and usually have an excellent experience. Unbelievably, the restaurant seemed understaffed for a busy New Year’s Eve. Our server was the bartender (we weren’t sitting at the bar), and predictably as the evening wore on, he got busier, and we were completely forgotten about. I also observed that folks were waiting to be seated—probably because they weren’t doing a very good job turning tables. Finally, after we’d finished our coffees, the water carafe was empty, and it was evident no one was going to offer us a refill or the long-ago promised dessert menu, I went up to the bar and asked for a check. To be fair, they did comp our beverages for the inconvenience. That said, we would have happily paid for better service. Maybe next time.
great food, good drink menu and excellent service, good atmosphere
We spent our 45th Anniversary at Rosso's. The food was very good, the service good but oddly, the restaurant was almost deserted. Our server was not 21 and despite trying, he seemingly was a new server and didn't quite have the 'charm' that a more experienced one might have. Overall, we'd recommend Rosso's and will return.
Very good dining experience. Enjoyed the meal and service
Rosso never disappoints and it was especially good for our family holiday meal. Never felt rushed or crowded and the food was fabulous! They had a limited holiday menu, but it had something for everyone in our group. We like to go to Rosso’s for special occasions, but it is also good for just a great Friday night dinner.
Food was good, service was fine but the food coming out of the kitchen was very, very, slow. This use to be one of our go to places until after 2 terrible visits, we’ve gone else where for way over a year. Glad we tried it again and would love for it to be added back to our list. We’ll go again and see what happens.
We had not been here for a while. Owner and staff were very attentive. Dinner was perfect. Highly recommended.
Loved the food and service.
Excellent service by River and the food was fabulous!
