Hand Made for 30 Years
We serve healthy, Mediterranean recipes the Italian way: hand tossed pizza dough, home made soups, fresh vegetables, classic Italian cuisine from the heart of Italy. Our family has prepared meals for San Diegans for almost 30 years.
Find out why your neighbors are calling both of Rosina's locations hidden gems. Our high energy restaurants and bars are perfect for a family meal, to meet up friends, or a takeout dining order. Our full service bars feature beer on tap and a special small plates menu that is perfect for singles.
One of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego. Absolutely amazing!
Always love eating at Rosina's. Great food and service. Never had a bad meal.
VERY noisy ....Should do something about acoustics
Awesome place. Great traditional Italian as well as creative options, and specials.
Small little restaurant with huge flavor. The house wine was excellent and a very good value. The soup appetizer and entree were far above expectations. The staff and owner are very friendly and welcoming. Can’t say enough for this little gem.
Our second time we have been to Rosina's and it won't be the last.
Our favorite Local place to eat. Family owned, Italian food superb and service very good. My wife's favorite dish is the Cannelloni which not many place make. Mine is the Saltimbocca and also the Spinach Salad with warm Calamari . Also they have a good hip wine list. No corkage fee on Wednesday nights.
Our whole experience was flawless, from the description of nightly specials, to recommendations, accommodating our vegetarian, fresh foods, great drinks and attention that made us feel special. Hand-crafted pastas and sauces. It was our first visit and looking forward to many more . . . lots to sample.
Wonderful food! Great ambiance. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion!
This was our first visit and we couldn't have been more pleased. The pasta, the veal, the tomato sauce, the wine, the service....it was all fantastic!
- Awesome experience
- Food, especially appetizers and deserts were great.
Our first time. Great restaurant! Well run with delicious nightly specials. We'll be back
We love this restaurant! The food is authentic and great. We love the wine selection too. The hardest part for us is deciding what to order as there are so many great dishes that are our favorites such as lasagne, Rosettas, and chicken bolognese. Best to have reservations if you want to dine on the weekends.
I cannot believe we haven't been to Rosina's before now. My Italian-American wife and I, and her mother (who has been preparing wonderful authentic Italian meals for ... well, a long time) had a delightful and delicious evening at Rosina's. We were (pleasantly) surprised to be greeted by Rosina's son, Giancarlo, who explained the specials he had prepared--it was like being personally invited to try his and his family's favorite dishes in their truly family-operated restaurant. And all the dishes were perfectly prepared and delicious by the way. We started with Pizza con Verdura (as an antipasta), artichokes, red onions, tomatoes and spinach, and Calamari con Spinaci; the calamari was sauteed in olive oil and garlic--not breaded and deep fat fried--and served on a bed of sauteed spinach. We loved them. Then my wife had Melanzane alla Parmigiana, eggplant sautéed and layered with tomato, mozzarella and parmagiano; her mother had Fettucine Mare e Monte, shrimp, scallops and calamari sauteéd with wild mushrooms in a fresh tomato sauce with white wine on fettucine; and I had veal piccatta that was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We loved everything and will be sure to return.
I loved it n will be back
Some of the best Italian food I have had in years. It was just a great dinner.
Love this place! Rosina's serves authentic, quality Italian food in a comfortable, friendly environment. Great food and amazing service, I highly recommend you check them out!
Another excellent and tasty dining experience at Rosina's. The Cioppino was great, plenty of seafood and the sauce was perfect. Get plenty of bread for dipping. I tasted my girlfriend's veal scallopini and that was very well done too. Rosina always comes by to suggest her specials. This night, it was the minestrone soup. Another good choice.
We have eaten here several times and have always enjoyed it. There is a nice diversity in the menu. The owner, Rosina is a delight and always willing to chat a bit with you. Her staff is very helpful and polite. The food is homemade and fresh. There are not many tables which helps keep the noise level down and make it a bit more special. A great place for a date, couples, family or group.
We were fortunate to go to the restaurant on a Thursday night, lasagna night! This ,8 layer dish was some of the best pasta I’ve had outside of Italy! We finished with a piece of cheesecake, that was perfect! I will return!
Good food nice service. A little bit noisy with so many people in a small space having a good time. A very nice place. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
Best Italian restaurant in San Diego bar none!!!
Excellent cuisine. Love the eggplant.
Celebrated my boyfriends birthday which always lands on Restaurant week, making it difficult to get reservations. But, Rosina's had a table for us and great dinner as always for our special date.
Always great food! Our go to place for birthday celebrations!!
The staff was very nice, and the outside of the building has a nice ambiance. There is a very small
Bar inside the restaurant that seems a little out of place since there is nowhere to check in and wait. The food was below average - with the exception of the warm bread they served. The wine menu is good. The chicken parmigiana was overcooked and soggy and the Rosetta has too much cheese. Overall, I would not really
Recommend this restaurant as you can do better in the area
Best Italian restaurant in San Diego area. They are a family of genuinely Italian restaurateurs. The current owner is second generation and apprenticed in Tuscany before returning home and taking over his mother’s restaurant. The food is wonderful, the ambience is lovely, and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are no more expensive than other Italian restaurants, making it a bargain given its quality. The location is a bit out of the way but it is worth the drive.
one of the better Italian food restaurants in San Diego......but still average.
Wonderful and thoughtful homemade selections prepared by a loving and skilled Italian chef. Always delicious ~ NEVER disappointed.
We were visiting family in San Diego (we live in LA), and found Rosina's from the 5 star reviews on OpenTable. Those stellar reviews aren't lying! Rosina's is the best Italian restaurants that my family and I have ever been to! The food was amazing, and you feel like part of Rosina's family when you're there. Rosina pulled up a chair at our table outside (we had brought our dog, and the waitress was very accommodating with a water bowl for her, thank you!) and talked with us like she was part of our family, and had us all laughing. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the San Diego area!
The flavors and atmosphere at Rosina's is amazing. She treats you like family. Her sons pour themselves into the dishes they all create with Rosina's years of experience. Amazing.
The food was delicious, and Rosina is awesome! It's like home.
Outstanding bread and condiment! We’ll be back.
So happy we discovered this restaurant from a friend. Only wish we would have known about it sooner, as it kills me to think about all the fabulous meals we have been missing out on all these years.
We go to Italy frequently, so we know authentic Italian cooking. A lovely family runs it with great care, love and enthusiasm and it shows with the amazing dishes they prepare. A great menu to satisfy anyone
who appreciates exceptional well prepared Italian dishes. Be sure to try their creative specials as well.
Run, don’t walk to this very pretty gem of a restaurant and say hi to Rosana for me.
Very nice atmosphere. Also, great food and a good menu.
Always very Good. Cannelloni is my wife's favorite. Every night they have 4-5 specials that the owners come to your table and explain. Very good service. Neighborhood Gem.
We have now been to Rosina’s twice and have thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the authentic Italian dishes and the warm hospitality of Rosina and her staff. Be prepared to be close to your dinner neighbors and not to mind the noise- it all adds positively to an ambiance that makes you feel welcome. This time my wife said that there was no way she could finish her plate of linguini tossed with olive oil, onion, broccoli and sausage but somehow it all disappeared! If they’re serving the cioppino special be sure to order it, a heap of delicious seafood in a thick, savory tomato stew. Brava, Rosina!
The food was fantastic, as was the service from our waiter Charlie. It is pretty noisy, but that is bound to happen at a restaurant that is this good!
The lovely Rosina is a talented chef and warm hostess. The special dishes she prepared for the day we were there included wild boar and riccota gnocchi, and lobster over parpardelle. Both of those items were indeed special. We visited on 1/2 price wine night which was an added plus. The noise level inside sent us onto the heated patio where we were able to hold conversations without raising our voices. The service was absolutely on-point for our group, even though we were alone on the patio. Rosina's is due a repeat!
