It has been a number of years since I had been to Roses Baby’s, the improvements where great, the wait staff was super friendly and the food was really good.
Everything was overall good except the dessert. I ordered the beignets and they were undercooked and had an aftertaste. I asked for it to get sent back and off my ticket. I was really looking forward to those.
Food was excellent. Our server was very attentive, and took very good care of us. We will eat there again.
When I got my tea, I honestly thought it was water! I asked the waiter and he just kinda shrugged like he didn’t know what to say about it. I’m not a complainer but honestly thought it was water.
Our waitress was amazing and the bartender was just as great! Excellent food and all around great atmosphere.
The Rosey burger, Rosey fries, and blackened fried oysters were very good. As for the rest of our meal, no thank you. We had the Boudin Ball Platter, red beans and rice as a side and the Shrimp Gumbo. We couldn’t taste any Cajun/creole seasoning only what smelled and tasted like Tabasco. The red beans and rice had very little rice, no sausage, and overwhelming flavor and heat of Tabasco. We literally cut the Boudin balls opened to look for sausage and which appeared to be predominately rice. The shrimp Gumbo had a little rice, overcooked shrimp which tasted like salt water, one medallion of sausage, and again so much of what smelled and tasted like Tabasco it literally burned our mouths. No one finished their meal, but we ate ate all the fries and shared bites of a burger. All for over $100 with one glass of beer and wine. I have never written a negative review but this meal was mostly awful, especially for the price. I gave the food 2 stars because the burger and fries were very good. I would give the Cajun side of the meal a 0.
Very sweet waitress. Service was fairly quick. Didn't get what I was expecting. The boil does not come in a bag as I'd assumed. It's a plate with 1 cluster of crablegs, a bowl of shrimp with a potato and a cob of corn.... that's it. The oysters were "cooked" but tasted extremely uncooked. The shrimp was undercooked. Plus they charge you to use a debit card. Booth was way too small for us so we were very uncomfortable. On a brighter note, my mom enjoyed her shrimp etoufee, my daughter enjoyed her chicken linguini, and my husband enjoyed his catfish platter. The fries are more like potato chips FYI and the Mac and cheese was pretty good.
The server was super sweet. But it was 15 minutes before anyone even came over to get our drink order. There was a hair in our appetizer, like cooked into it. The manager took that off our ticket. But the food itself was bland and really nothing to write home about. And the beignets were just hollow greasy flavorless dough. Honestly overall pretty disappointing, wish I would’ve known beforehand so I could’ve chosen somewhere else to celebrate my birthday.
Food was cold when it arrived, and the fried food was kind of greasy. The catfish tasted good, but it was fried in oil that was too hot, so it was very dark. The beignets were too greasy, and the banana foster was kind of gross.
Best food and atmosphere in Starkville. Took my son for a visit to MSU to see the campus. Of course I had to take him to my favorite place Rosey Baby’s. Great food and service.
Food took a longgggggg time to arrive. I ordered the fried catfish, it was under cooked. Kind of likened sushi. The waitresses were overwhelmed. I will say the manager on duty tried his best to make it right by taking some items off the bill. I don’t think I will be back.
Food was good although waiting on food was lengthy. And there were some mistakes. Waitress was good but spread too thin. Did not appreciate an unexpected new administration fee.
I’ve been to Rosey Baby several times. This time was for a Valentines date with my wife. I went simple with a chef Louie Burger and beignets for dessert.
Both were great. The Chef Louie might be my favorite burger in Starkville. The bun used on the burger is fabulous in itself (I believe it’s sourdough, but correct me if I’m wrong)
On this particular occasion my Rosey fries were over cooked. Not enough to send back, but they have definitely been better before.
The beignets were great, of course. I’m glad there weren’t more of them or I would have made myself sick eating them all!
The atmosphere is great! Bar tender, Ivan was top notch and made great drink recommendations! Waitress was Johnny on the spot! Everyone was top notch! The food is awesome! The only suggestion I would have is the bathroom and to be a "gathering spot" for socializing... so someone needing to use the restroom is left waiting entirely too long, on girls that are "hanging out ". Maybe a bigger bathroom, or an employee keeping tabs on the bathrooms.
Second time to dine there and was disappointed with out meal. It wasn’t as good as the first time.
Move in day!! It was perfect for dinner after all the craziness!! The service and the food was awesome!!
Excellent food and fun atmosphere!!! Cute place. Would love to go again!
Our waitress... tho, I don't remember her name was awesome and super helpful. The owner was also amazing, the service was just overall is great!
Understanding that they were busy, we knew that the service would be a little slower and food prep times would be a little longer than usual, however, every time we asked our server for something, we had to request it a second and third time before we would get it. I ordered a drink for my wife, and after 30 minutes, I had to remind him that I ordered the drink and we haven't received it yet. Once the food came out, I asked for crackers to go with my gumbo. By the time he brought the crackers, after asking 3 times, the gumbo was cold. My daughter had the shrimp and crawfish stuffed steak, and the crawfish tasted like they had been microwaved and her baked potato was either over or under cooked to the point it was hard. I offered to send it back, but with our servers track record, she declined. Everyone's food was spicey to the point just to be hot. It didnt add any good taste, it just made your lips and tongue burn. Having cooked cajun foods, you put a little spice and provide tobacco for those that want more, and usually on the menu let people know that things are spicy. It seems that the spicy might be covering up the inability of the chef to cook and produce food that tastes good.
The one thing that did taste good was the hushpuppies. They were amazing.
Finly, after waiting 30 minutes after being done, we asked another server to get our server so we could get to go boxes and our check. She got us to go boxes and after a few minutes, he brought our check. The crowds were gone as it was 9:30 and after waiting 20 minutes for him to come get the check, we had been there since 7:15, I paid in cash and left a very small tip, as I dont think he earned it for making us wait repeatedly for things we had to ask again for.
We might try it again, but I doubt it, between the over spicy food and poor service, it just isnt worth it, or worth taking a chance!
Food was very good. Music on the speakers was so loud that you could not hear or carry on a conversation.
Good food and service, plus an excellent draft beer selection!
Fun restaurant with a funky vibe. Super beer list and lots of quick bites. Plenty of TVs for the games and great service.
Excellent service food was good but it was extremely loud
Made reservations and was seated on time and immediately. Service was great, very attentive waitress Molly. Meal was good and variety and selection great.
Great place for us to go after the game, Service was great, lots of tv's , so perfect for game day.
Out-of-state First timers, and we will be back! The food is excellent. Fried items were delicious and it is apparent they know exactly what to do...fresh oil, light batter, you get the picture. Gumbo is the real deal here. Hush Puppies can’t be done any better. Beer list is impressive also. Owner/chef checked on our table, which shows they care. Do yourself a favor and eat here.
Maybe we should try it once more. Perhaps we caught it on an off day. The food was really not that great at all. But the service was nice.
Food is always good, although it can be slow to receive. I believe we were the first to arrive for lunch time but it starting filling in by the time we left. $2 brunch mimosas are a nice bonus!
Lots of food. Shrimp was good.
Would be 0/5 for service if possible. Made a reservation and had to wait with the other people who made reservations because our tables were given away. Server did not speak with us for 15 minutes after sitting down. We had to find our own silverware after 15 minutes because our food was cold and wasn’t finger food. Food would have been great but the service ruined the entire experience
I am so sorry about your recent experience. I am the owner and i am here every day and I have never been aware of us ever over seating a reservation. If you would be willing to call us at 324-1949 ask fr Ashley. I would like to hear about your experience so I can coach our host and server so this never happens again!
Shrimp was over cooked, impossible to peel. Crawfish was excellent
