It was great, the house was a tad warm but I’m sure it’s hard to keep such a beautiful old home cool in the Texas summer! The restaurant week menu was delicious.
If you're going for happy hour make sure you get seated at the bar. Otherwise you don't get a happy hour menu/options. Overall the food is very tasty, service is fantastic, and the ambiance is delightful. Make sure to leave room for dessert!
Really, really good food and great service!
We made reservations for Sunday brunch at 12:30 to celebrate a friend visiting from Calgary. Our server was rude and inhospitable from the start. She was just in the worst of moods. We couldn’t get refills on coffee or drinks, it felt like she left our table in a huff at every visit and her attitude soured our entire experience. Our entire group works or has worked in the service industry and we pride ourselves on being good guests. The kitchen couldn’t accommodate our request for greens to be added to our plates as we wanted to nix the chips. We would’ve gladly paid an up charge...we were given a few sliced cucumbers/pickles and the chips. Our meals were good and the sausage with my ranch breakfast was the BEST sausage I’ve had in a restaurant in a long time and possibly ever. Despite the attitude, we left a 20% tip because you never really know what someone is going through, BUT we won’t be going back again soon to be treated like we weren’t valued as guests.
I had heard good buzz from a friend about Rosewood, so my wife and I went for brunch. Migas were excellent, but biscuit did not live up to out server’s hype. Tasty cocktails. Charming house. I will come back for dinner soon.
We had a great evening dining at Rosewood! We were out with another couple celebrating my wife's birthday and we were seated in the corner window seat in the front of the restaurant. We enjoyed cocktails, and the food was amazing as well as the service! Thanks for the wonderful evening we will be back!
Excellent food and service. Nick was awesome and even suggested a hiking trail we went on the next day and it was a good hike. This place is definitely on our repeat list next time we are in Austin.
One of our favorite restaurants. Amazing food and cocktails and great service. Love the reading glasses in the drawers of each table.
Great choice for a group evening - but would also be a fun date place. Food was elevated but accessible. Service was outstanding. Loved it.
The food at Rosewood is amazing, but I was surprisingly disappointed with the service (surprised because my previous time dining here was stellar!). It was my birthday and I had included that in the reservation. Our waitress confirmed that when we arrived. Then, it was never brought up again in any way! I asked another waitress on our way out whether birthdays are normally acknowledged and she said yes - so it seems like our waitress just forgot. That aside, two different cocktails were brought out incorrectly - the first was a mocktail and luckily our waitress did realize her own gaff and brought out another. The second was a cocktail we’d already had one of and it was brought out a completely different color/taste. We did send it back and receive a new one but the waitress told us the error had just been a different kind of gin (possible, but doesn’t seem like that would’ve changed the color so drastically?). Overall - food is great, service was poor. I would come back but not for a special occasion.
Went there for brunch. Very tasty. Started with yummy beignets followed by barbacoa with an oversized flour tortilla and a couple of corn ones. My companions had the bananas foster pancakes and the ranchers breakfast accompanied by various meats. The setting is an old house that is sunny and airy -- very nice atmosphere (nice break from the hard spaces of new eateries). Convenient on site parking too.
Every thing was amazing. Sat at the counter, 10pm on a Saturday. They were so gracious for the late arrival. Standard seating looked beautiful too.
We split the Drum ceviche, crispy okra, beef tartare, crispy catfish, and barbacoa and stuffed churros for dessert. Okra, Tartare and churros won! Rosewood, peaches n rye, BlackBerry smash and Texas wildflower cocktails. All super yummy!!
We had a reservation outside in the evening. Welcomed warmly and promptly seated. Beautiful view of the Austin skyline. The waiter explained the menu and made recommendations to ease us in. We tried the “Texas Wildflower” and “Rosewood.” Fantastic cocktails! Ordered a variety of the small plates “tapas” style. Highly recommend the Beef Tartare and Smoked Mushrooms. Would dine here again!
Excellent experience. Loved the way they incorporate sophisticated culinary influences into simple South Texas cuisine.
Lovely dining in a beautiful old house. The service was impeccable, food was amazing and atmosphere perfect. We went for the Sunday Dinner and it wonderful. The stand out dishes were the pimento cheese on the charcuterie tray, the roasted cream corn, and the fried catfish with the light crunchy cornmeal breading.
Sitting at the counter and ordering the tasting menu (daily supper) was a great decision.
Wagyu! Drinks were great, staff was great, view was great..
Wow! What a fabulous date night spot. My husband and I enjoyed the Tasting Menu and were blown away on how delicious it all was. We found it to be very reasonably priced and they offered a fabulous wine selection at very affordable prices. We will be back and bring our friends next time.
We’re blown away every time we have a meal at Rosewood. Sitting at the counter is a must. Half the fun is watching Jesse and his team, but even without the meal would still be my favorite in Austin.
It was delicious! A little noisy and crowded in the room we were seated but I look forward to going again. Some of the best food on Austin.
Happy hour is only honored at the bar. Doesn’t tell you this when booking on opentable. Food was pretty good but not as good as expected. Pricey for what you get.
Was not aware of the ‘Sunday Supper’ menu with no other options. Food was good as always, but not outstanding and not necessarily what we would have chosen. We also felt the value was not the same as on prior visits. We can certainly go on other nights, but we disappointed with the Sunday night change. Great waitstaff as usual.
Went on Sunday night, drinks, food, and service were amazing. Enjoyed the old mansion setting and ambiance.
I am glad someone finally put a good restaurant in this old house. The food consists of small plates to be shared. Our group tried almost everything, and all dishes were tasty, though some better than others. Service was attentive, and the vibe good.
Great meal, sat outdoors, had our own private seating because no one else was out there. Enjoyed the tasting menu, wine pairings well-paired and for a reasonable price. We will definitely return. Service great.
Small brunch menu but all incredibly delicious. Highly recommend the beignets. The servers, hostess, and manager were also so incredibly kind and friendly!!!
Plates were beautiful and delicious. Felt the tables were very close together and room was very loud. Portions were very very small, so rated a 3 on value. Overall, a solid 4.
This was an anniversary dinner for my wife and I in Austin. The food was superb, the only reason it isn’t five stars is some of the dishes were too spicy for my wife.
We are at the chefs table which was a lot of fun. Both the chef working the wood fired grill and our waitress made the dinner a great experience. I would suggest trying this restaurant out for a nice night with your significant other.
Fantastic experience! Food was wonderful
The staff was awesome and the food was excellent. The atmosphere is unique for Austin in that it is in an old mansion that still resembles its former shell. It was crowded but we were still able to get a table. The drinks were creative but not over priced. It's in our rotation now and we will definately go back.
Ned was gracious in. Ok’ing by for each serving to tell us about it and the wine paring. We loved the experience and we will be back!
The food was excellent, but the service was even better. Megan is one of the best servers we have ever had anywhere. Plus, its two blocks from Hotel Eleven.
We are very excited to see what had been done to this lovely old Victorian, and it was lovely. The interior finishes and decor were historically accurate as well as interesting.
The quality of the food was also top nock. We had the shrimp jambalaya, grouper, with ceviche, quail small plates. the servings, however, were VERY small. Even on the dishes that we were told were main courses. there were4 little shrimp on about 2/3 cup of rice for my jambalaya. And the prices are above what other comparable restaurants charge. (I' thinking Juniper, Launderette.)
Our server's attitude was also below par. I called after making an Open Table reservation to let them know we wanted a quiet table as it was our anniversary. (I'd read they had lots of seating options, which they do.) our server never cracked a smile, and I don't recall any eye contact. When iI asked if I could have a flute for our bottle of Cremate, instead of the large red wine goblets he brought, I was told flatly, "We don't have any."
I asked it they had desserts other than what was listed on the chef's table, and was told, "it's on a separate menu. I'll bring later." I wanted to plan my meal a little lighter if there was some dessert I wanted. I had to specifically explain this. Also, there was no mention of our anniversary. I wasn't looking for a big freely, but maybe a pleasant, "Happy Anniversary!" while he poured the bubbles. The server definitely put a damper on our mood.
We'll probably be back, but maybe after prices come in line with the competition.
Delicious food, great service, fun atmosphere. I recommend sitting at the counter so you can watch the cooking! Fun!
The food was great but it took them over an hour to get the food out. I think they might have forgotten one of the dishes. they did make up for it by giving us a free dessert.
Always amazing! Favorite place to take out of town guests. They are always blown away!!!
Love Rosewood! Always delicious, great service and we love the historic home.
This place is great, the food, the ambiance and the service were all amazing!!
Please go back to your regular menu, the Sunday Night Supper is not a good value. We left on Sunday because of the Chicken Fried Steak Sunday Supper. We also saw two other people leaving because to this menu. Your other menu was outstanding. I love your restaurant and your regular menu. I go there twice a month on Sundays with my daughter but will not anymore with the Sunday Night Supper.
Excellent in every way. Looking forward to going back soon
