It felt like a little French bistro with California fare. Well executed dishes, and wonderfully attentive service with lovely ambience. A terrific find.
The beet salad and salmon were excellent
Our waitress w
We took out-of-town family members here to celebrate our niece's birthday. Rose's never disappoints. The rotisserie chicken is to die for, but get there early - the breast can be quite dry if you dine after seven or so, much like the roasted birds from Mollie Stones! The pastas are surprisingly addictive. And the pizzas are classic - right from the brick oven. Nice but small selection of wines, with some interesting boutique producers dominating the list, and some domestic dreck for those without imagination.
Been to roses for many many years. Just not overly impressed this time. Brussels sprouts were over coooked. My favorite chopped salad keeps getting smaller and smaller and the dressing which i normally love was off. Needed more lemon and more Gorgonzola and more salt!!!
So there you have it. I was disappointed which was unfortunate cuz I used to love this place and was looking forward to a delicious meal...
Delicious meal! Great service!
Food was delicious BUT we got there at 7pm, but didn’t get our first bit of food until 8pm! Not even crowded. Waitress was very sweet but food took SO long and other dishes were very slow arriving after the first one.
Exceptional food and service! One of my favorite places.
We were in town for the holidays and went here for Christmas Eve. The service and food was excellent.
We stay near Rose's a couple times a year and love making it our neighborhood cafe. We've only ever had dinner there. We love the carefully prepared food and the cozy, untrendy ambience.
The maitre'd and waitress were exceptional. Everyone was very friendly. The food was superb and the portions ample. We shared a chopped salad and tasted the roasted salmon and pork dishes. They were extremely good. Nice wine list .
Cole was the consummate waitress and made our evening enjoyable . The fried polenta would be a meal.
Always a brilliant choice. Salads are fresh and creative and the pasta is perfect. Portions are just right and the taste is wonderful. Rose’s is my go-to place when I’m dining in SF for the first time. Besides, I love two blocks away. I love it’s convenience, too.
Dinner was good. Not spectacular, but good.
Although the Chopped Salad is very good.
Our complaint is that some entre portions (i.e. ravioli's) and desserts are skimpy.
Desserts are all $9. - the piece of buttermilk lemon cake with ice cream was
ridiculously small. (cake was cut in a very small piece, and ice cream scoop the size of a golf ball.
What bugged us was also the coca-cola @ $3.25 was served in a glass 3/4 filled with ice!
Ridiculous! You are certainly taking advantage of your customers.
We suggest you address these issues.
We found the wine list to be pricey and the food seemed to be more expensive than we'd remember but it is always a good neighborhood option.
We booked a table for a special occasion. Greeting was cursory, the table for two for a special occasion was at the gloomy back of the restaurant - and in the middle of tables for four or more- - others were available ! Later the tables on either side got filled up and we had to slide our table to allow the others to get in and then we were all so close that we were almost eating off each others plates. We were hurried along and left in less than an hour. The food is well cooked but the waitress was awful - very surly and when asked for some explanation on the menu - was very abrupt.
A neighborhood gem!
Dependable, well-prepared food in civilized, cozy setting. Nothing flashy, just good quality.
We had a delicious dinner and a delightful server. Definitely going back.
My favourite restaurant in SF. The food is always exceptional.
We always love our visits to Rose’s Cafe! Service, food, choices are all excellent.
the food was good and the prices were reasonable. The wait staff was friendly. Good overall experience.
a great restaurant that has really lost the great vibe, now with constant
changing staff, and uneven cooking of the recipes that were always so reliable.
need a good chef and cooks that are more careful and a staff that has a team attitude.
hope that can come back as it is awful to lose a great reliable local neighborhood spot
Slightly limited menu but everything was surprisingly special and tasty. Will definitely return.
Yet another satisfying meal at Rose's Café! I had the flank steak which did not disappoint and my daughter had the pasta with clams. Both were good, but the pasta is a go-to dish for both of us!
The location is perfect for heading into or out of Marin. I sometimes rendezvous with my daughter who lives in the Richmond difference, drive to the theater together from there and them drop her off at her car after. I don't have to go out of my way and we only pay to park one car near the theater!
An outstanding dinner with my family that lived up to expectations in every way. The peach and rhubarb cobbler that finished the meal was the perfect component to the pasta and meat dishes we exclaimed over. Regular visitors to San Francisco, we always make sure to visit rose's every time we come.
Rose's is our family's neighborhood favorite. The kid's red sauce and pasta (not on menu) is affordable and always finished! Their menu changes daily but their pizza and pasta never disappoints. The green salad is also very good. They are always great with the kids and bring bread, olives and CRAYONS to color on the table paper before the meal arrives. We go early, but it's usually full. When the weather is nice, it's a great place to eat outside.
A perennial favorite. We always have a meal here on our annual visit to San Francisco.
A would return restaurant. Service, Food, Ambience wonderful. I'll give a Four Star & thumbs up place to eat.
This is my favorite restaurant in SF. I take friends and out of town guests here all the time and they love it! Perfection!
I frequent Rose's and the service and food is always very high quality. It is an inviting place and unpretentious while offering very high quality food and wines. I feel very comfortable in recommending Rose's to friends.
Excellent dinner and service
Fine restaurant with good food options. Our party all enjoyed what they ordered from this Italian menu. We were able to enjoy our conversation as the noise level was not high. Service was fast and non intrusive.
Easy, convenient...food so, so, service was slow(:$ ccdfjbcc. Ghxfhvg
Was referred to this restaurant for their fresh pastas and authenticity. Also was told it was very family friendly and was an easy walk from our hotel. It was authentic and had a good menu, but what we didn't realize was that the menu is different daily and there aren't any substitutions. They are very strict about that, so if you don't like the menu for the day, then there aren't many options. We ended up with soup and pizza, which wasn't bad, but not exactly what we were hoping for. Good food, just be prepared for select choices!
While visiting SF we chanced upon Rose's. my daughter and I shared multiple offerings. We started with the charcuterie plate, which was quite good. Next we shared the greens salad. Lastly we had the roast chicken, which was very delicious. No room for dessert. We sat outside, which was empty except for one other table. Nice and quiet for good conversation.
Our dinner was for our anniversary, and great care and attention was given by allowing us the same table we come to every year and the quality of food and service has stayed top of the line for us. The best recommendation I can give is that we will celebrate the next anniversary and many more at Rose's.
Enjoy the great food and the service. Have a good choice of appetizers and salads.
I always enjoy Rose's cafe. Food is simple but well prepared, always fresh. The place is cozy and the service is superb.
