This place should be shut down due to bad food and service! The deceptive menu is but costly decorated slop which made me ill! And the staff are but a bunch of mindless robots under Jans's evil spell! Also, on my third and final visit to the corrupt place, I was forcibly banned due to karaoke song choice. And although I later appealed by email, the ban still stands. The drunk insane vulgar owner Jan Rosen should be put in an asylum NOT allowed to run a business! And if I could I would give the place zero stars for discrimination! More bad publicity COMING SOON! And Judgment is COMING SOON upon this wicked place!!!
This was such a fun night the owner went out of her way to make sure we were all feeling special and cared for. Great clientele.
We went here for NYE dinner. The restaurant was very busy and loud. The service was slow but expectedly so since it was a busy night. Our waitress was over the top, I wish I had gotten her name so I could give her a shoutout. My husband has a seriously dairy allergy and there was nothing on the NYE menu he could eat so she had the chef fix something special and my husband loved it. She was very knowledgeable and friendly as well. The reason I heave 4 stars not 5 was the ambiance. They had xmas and New Years decor I would have liked just New Years since we were there celebrating New Year’s Eve and also they had live music that was terrible! The sound was so off it was like a junior High band practice. I’m glad our table was the furthest from that noise or I would have had a lot worse night. When it’s a special occasion they should really hire trained professionals to do the music.
Met friends there for dinner for NYE. Great food. The place was packed so service was a little slow. Good time though.
This was our dinner for New Year's Eve. We were acknowledged when we arrived and were seated right away. We ordered drinks and appetizers. One drink came, then about 20 min. later the other drink arrived. Then, one appetizer arrived....then 15 min. later the other two. We had the Heirloom Tomato Salad, Ahi Poke and Lobster Bisque. We then ordered our main courses. The appetizers were great, I will order those again. We finished our appetizers and waited about a half hour for our main course. (Prime Rib and Artichoke Chicken)....again....amazing food. About half way through our main courses, a small loaf of warm sour dough bread showed up. I love the food....but the service seemed erratic. I'm not sure if it was the kitchen in getting food out, or the waitress. (Who was adorable by the way) I would have been more assertive about the service, if she wasn't so sweet. It was New Year's Eve and I wanted her year to end well.
We will be back. We loved the food and want to believe that the service was an indication of the day of the year.
Made a reservation for New Year's Eve, but it was my mom's 75 birthday, which is why we went. It was rather chilly on our arrival and very dark. We acclimated and of course when the restaurant started filling up, it did warm up.
I had to ask a couple of times for an ice bucket for the Champagne that I brought. Other than that, the wait staff was pretty attentive. Although they knew we were there for a birthday, they did not offer to comp a corkage or a dessert. We paid for everything.
This place is a bit pricey, but the food was very good. Will definitely go back sometime.
Timing of food delivery needs improvement. Entree showed up when appetizer and salad had just been delivered. Entree was removed but when brought back after finishing appetizer and salad it was cold. Flavor was good but cold !
Very poor service, they seemed extremely understaffed!
Very good night out with family, good waitress she was enjoying her job. Delicious entrees, a bit expensive, but worth it. Will recommend Rosen's 256 North!
We had the veal chop which was tender & moist. The mashed potatoes were cold. They were sent back & reheated but they still were only lukewarm. Otherwise,
The atmosphere was fine, a little chilly though, the waiter was excellent trying to help us with rectifying the meal.
We had a 2 pm Sunday brunch last weekend. Except for a holiday gathering in the back of the restaurant, we were the only people there so it was very quiet. It looks like they'd have a great bar scene during other hours. The food was good - we had the shrimp risotto, Caesar salad and fish and chips. Do not miss the opportunity to try the cheesecake. I have sought out J.M. Rosen's cheesecake for 20+ years (since their days in Railroad Square, Santa Rosa). It's worth the effort to track them down! I prefer the 'traditional' as I am a cheesecake purist. Fluffy, creamy deliciousness! Don't forget to take one home!
The food was amazing. Our waiter was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Will be going back soon.
Had our company Christmas luncheon at Rosen's. Food and service were very good. Will go back to try the dinner menu soon.
I went to Rosen's 256 North for lunch on a Wednedsay to celebrate a friend's birthday. There were 4 of us in our group although I did have reservations we didn't really need them. We started at the bar with a lemon drop it was served in a martini glass filled with cotton candy then the bartender poured the liquid over the cotton candy which instantly melted and was a beautiful (and delicious) drink! We ordered crab cakes for an appetizer and they were excellent! Each of ordered something different and we were all happy with our food. Nice menu choices.
Poor service, average food, no cheesecake on Friday night.
We made an early reservation because we were dining with an infant. Staff was very accommodating in seating us at a table where we could park the stroller and not disrupt others. Service was attentive. Cocktails came quickly and were well crafted. Food was excellent. The special sole dore was beautifully breaded and pan sautéed and so big in portion that it came home for the “cat. “ Short rib ravioli was rich and flavorful. Our dining companions made a meal of appetizers which included the crispy calamari which is just that – – light and crispy. Took 2 pieces of cheesecake home for dessert. Jan always runs a great operation.
Very small portions, we had to take my husband and brother in law out for a burger after their $29.95 spare rib tortellini special . The food is great, just very small portions.
The wait staff is less than par, the time it took to receive food was over 45 minute wait, the actual food was not cooked well. The chicken pot pie was missing chicken. This was one of the worst experiences i've had service wise. They need to hire new front house and upgrade their chef for the prices they are asking. Horrible.
I was looking for different location for steaks. This is not a steak house. If you are looking for comfort food and chicken this would be the place to visit. Very large restaurant would be ideal for large parties.
Though well regarded by many, my visit was a disappointment. 20 minutes after our seating, we had only a plate of bread delivered by a busser. 35 minutes after seating we had 2 of 3 cocktails we'd ordered (we cancelled the third). The French onion soup was pleasant. Normally I'd order a glass of wine with dinner, but I was afraid it wouldn't arrive before dessert. The waitress comped my wife's wine to make up for the missed cocktail. The New York cut was done as I requested and slightly warmer than me, unlike the potatoes and beans. I suspect my plate had been waiting for my family's meals to be finished by the kitchen. The cheesecake was wonderful as I'd expect from Rosen's. I suspect it was just a bad Sunday night at the restaurant given others' favorable reviews, but it was one that will keep me away for good. There's too many places in Petaluma that have never disappointed me.
Have been there before and enjoyed but literally had the worst service of my 40 years this past Saturday night. Our server was rude, uninterested and seemed to hate us and hated being there. Good food, but will never go back. If it wasn’t for our party of 6 laughing about our server, we would have had a miserable night.
only thing I was disappointed with was when I reserved table on Open Table in special requests I said it was Danny's birthday & I would like a piece of chocolate desert brought to the table. The waitress didn't know anything about it, looked blank & did not even say Happy Birthday to my husband. The ladies across from us had a birthday & server asked whose it was & said "something" was free, I couldn't hear what.
A simple Happy Birthday would have sufficed

I don’t even like cheesecake but the snickers cheesecake was stupendous!
We were seated promptly and offered drinks. The waitress was friendly and efficient.
We all ordered different entrees and all were pleased with their choices. All this restaurant lacks is warmth and coziness. All in all a great evening topped off with Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake which is fabulous!
1 server. Forgot our wine. Had to ask for refills of coffee, cream, water. Not our servers fault as she had to do it all and did not do it well. Will not go back as Petaluma has many excellent restaurants to choose from
This was our second time that 265 north. The food has improved since our last visit. The service, alas, and slow. But that said it’s hard to find good servers anywhere. Good luck to 265 North
The food was very good and the service was also very good.
Outstanding meals and ambiance’s. A very quiet place to enjoy a fabulous meal with friends. No complaints from anyone. Plan to be back for a 70th birthday 🎂 dinner with family and friends. Our waitress was the bar tender so we didn’t see her much.
The calamari was very disappointing; circles too big and no flavor. The petrale sole was good as was the Chicken Marsala. The prime rib was huge and would have been better served with the huge piece of fat removed but was good.
The food is very good, and the service is good and the cheesecake is amazing !!
Wild King Salmon with gnocchi excellent . The sauce did not over power the salmon but complemented entire dish .
Sitting at a table (reserved) next to the bar the noise was incredible, the conversation obscene and the service slow. With our reservation we should have been seated in the restaurant proper.
Food was fantastic! Many people got the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection!
The salad has huge and the Chicken Marsala was delish! I asked for extra mushrooms and they delivered without hesitation!
Appetizers were brussel sprouts (oh so tasty) and ahi poke (I would skip that next time - fish wasn’t fresh enough for my palate but the other guests seemed to enjoy it).
Service was spot on and friendly without being overly involved in our party of 10. Drinks were fast and well poured.
Can’t wait to come back!
The waitress seemed overwhelmed, it took me 15 min sitting at a table waiting for the rest of my party to get her to ask if I wanted a drink. Seafood pasta was over cooked, prime rib and steak were well received and sides were decent. Live piano in the front was a nice touch, though!
We love Rosen's! It really is a gem that many people are missing out on. Everything from service to drinks, apps, food... really great. The prawn risotto is always delicious, mushroom version for a vegetarian option. And don't forget Jan's cheesecake!
Excellent Food with Excellent service
I generally don't complain about places and only leave positive reviews. But I believe this place has great potential and is not using what they have, so I'll be honest here. The location of the tables behind the bar leave you feeling like you are seated in a darkened area and close to the stockroom. The service we had the evening we were there was not good. The server must have apologized three separate times for not coming back when he said he would. I did see other servers who seemed much more aware of their guests. The food was great (petrole sole and fresh peas), however the beer we ordered from the menu was "no longer being served" and the menu itself looked like it had seen much better days. The location on the boulevard is fantastic and they should take advantage of that by placing their diners near the windows where they can enjoy the vibe of the area. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, as we dine often at Brewster's next door and had been watching them as they got ready to open. I would give them another shot, but maybe after they have some time to work through their issues.
Walked in for a reservation at 5:30, hostess didn’t ask if we had a reservation, she just said, “three” and we were sat right away. Server was friendly enough, she seemed a little impatient, but nice enough. Food was very underwhelming for the reviews i had read about this place. Wedge salad was super basic, onion soup wasn’t very hot, and it was overly sweet for my taste. I specifically asked our server how the salmon was prepared and she said “medium well”. I asked for my salmon to be cooked more medium rare and she said it wouldn’t be a problem. It was a problem apparently because it was cooked all the way thru when I received it. Salmon was bland as you couldn’t see even a grain of seasoning on it. My husbands shrimp and scallop pasta was good, but also bland and the prawns were over cooked and rubbery. Scallops were perfect.
For the prices of this place, I expected much better. It’s nothing special. We won’t come again.
Terrible service, some meals good, some disgusting. Will not go back.
