We love “our” new neighborhood restaurant! The owner and staff are attentive, friendly and genuinely interested in providing excellent food and service in a fairly casual atmosphere. The menu has great options for vegetarians, vegans, and omnivores - ie, everyone in our family! And did we mention the wine and cocktails? Yum!
We have eaten here twice because it’s conveniently located near where my husband is temporarily staying. The food is ordinary and overpriced. The boeuf bourguignon and the salade nicoise in no way approach the typical style of preparation. The service is hit or miss.
Neighborhood gem. Feels like home - if your parents are foodies.
Very good food, streets a little noisy, but very enjoyable experience
Ate outside. Not too crowded and very pleasant.
The service was wonderful and the food was delicious, I highly recommend giving Rosemary Bistro Cafe a try! I just wish I got to eat more things on the menu… I guess I will just have to go back :)
Very pleasant first visit to Rosemary Bistro, and it won’t be the last. We had Benedict dishes, but the menu is full of nice choices. The dessert menu is terrific!
Just the perfect Sunday lunch spot - we ate outside, the service was responsive without being overbearing, Hassan was very pleasant and helpful and the food was terrific! The avocado toast w salmon tartare is the perfect light meal for summer, and the crunchy toast underneath was great bc so many places give you slightly soggy bread. Nice wine and plenty of water, we had a wonderful relaxing time.
This is a great neighborhood restaurant that you can always count on.
Lovely evening on the street cafe of Rosemary Bistro. The service is attentive without being intrusive. Each dish was beautifully presented combined with each morsel being delicious! Looking forward to return this Summer.
Eating outside here on a warm night was almost unbearable. You can be either on the sidewalk or actually on Connecticut Avenue, but either way you're closed in by tarps so there is no air circulation, and it's very crowded, unattractive and noisy. The service was dreadful - orders wrong, no spoons for soup, long delays between service to different diners after wrong dish was pointed out, no bread despite two requests, then no butter, not asked about coffee or dessert (which two of us wanted) before check was brought. Instead of comping the dessert or the coffee or at least hurrying it, we had to wait another 15 minutes to get it and another 15 while the check was redone. The food is fine but pricey for the setting and the service.
I think they are pretty good and neighbors love them but I see some growing pains. They are taking on a lot of diners using the outdoor options and the service people seemed overwhelmed. Even the basics (bread) took time. I thought my steak special (ordered rare) didn’t seem to be great quality. It was a bit chewy and the sauce was unremarkable. I plan to try them again because they are in my neighborhood and quite popular. So maybe I just wasn’t lucky that night.
Belated Mother’s Day dinner
We had a wonderful Mother’s Day lunch!
We had an excellent pigeon with peas.
Food was ok but service needs much improvement. We did not get bread in our table which at the end was a good thing because my son’s croque madame was huge. The waiter was very accommodating and let me order the bouillabaisse from the regular menu even though they were only offering the brunch and Mother’s Day one. The coffee was one of the worse one I’ve had in a long time and it arrived without a spoon, when I asked for one she brought me a soup one. First time there, went because a friend gave a GC for it but I don’t think I will going back.
Best bistro ever! Loved Fred’s food, service, and atmosphere.
We were immediately made to feel welcome. We had taken carryout from this restaurant, but this was our first in-house dining at the bistro. It exceeded expectations.
a very nice addition to the neighborhood. Outdoor seating with umbrellas. Food very well prepared and creative.
Great experience. Chef engages with the customers. Sat outside so of course there is noise on busy Connecticut Ave but on what was such a beautiful day who cares!
The food is Amazing! It is a lovely place to dine.
Love this new spot. My salmon tartare was perfect and perfectly presented
It was a birthday lunch and without request we were brought a lovely little chocolate mousse on a festively decorated plate. We will definitely go back and I have already shared our happy experience with others.
It is nice to have Rosemary Bistro in the neighborhood. The outdoor seating set up is lovely. The food is good, as well as the service. This was my first time to dine here, but it won't be the last.
hanger steak was absolutely superb and perfectly cooked
Rosemary Bistro Café is a neighborhood gem. The cuisine is traditional French (e.g., French Onion Soup, Beef Bourguignon, Bouillabaisse, Moules/Frites), with an occasional fusion twist (e.g., Pan-Seared Dumplings, Pork Short Ribs).
We totally love this place, and dine here a couple times a month. The owner Frédéric is echt Français, jovial, and a wonderful host. The lead server Tim is a delight to work with.
Oh yes...the desserts...Floating Island and Tarte Tatin are both to die for.
I had the boullabaisse, a typical French dish from the South of France (Marseille, actually). What was missing was the rouille, a typical and indispensible ingredient for such dish.
It was also overpriced, at 26 $. The restaurant should not charge more than 20 $ for it.
The glass of Bordeaux red wine was also very stingy. It was more a half-glass, at best.
Food was perfect in taste and excellent in presentation. The service was attentive but not bothersome, and Fred was great!
Very good food and great ambiance. I only saw 4 people dealing with all the tables and that was a little bit too much for them considering they were also juggling takeout orders. For our first venture out to eat in over a year, it was a great experience! The food is quite good and we will definitely come back.
Absolutely love the staff here! They are so kind and welcoming!
Excellent food and attentive service - everything I look for in a good restaurant.
Awesome. Loved it.
Why did I not receive 100 points for booking on Open Table and dining here?
Our brunch was very good. The floating island is outstanding!
We ate on front patio of Cafe Rosemary, driven into the wind and cold by Covid fears. So the staff brought out propane heaters and we were toasty again.
And soon we were made even happier by Frederique's canapes, bouillabaisse, moule provencal (my favorite), and choice of wine.
Come soon before the traffic returns to upper Connecticut.
Excellent ingredients expertly prepared in a lovely setting -- lots of attention to detail --make for a wonderful experience. You can find a detailed review by searching Rosemary on john tanners bbq blog
First time -excellent food and service. Will be back. Great neighborhood restaurant.
Everyone was very friendly and accommodating the entire time. I love that the menu changes!
Great experience eating outside with good heaters. Excellent food
Thank you so much for the kinds words
Delicious food (baby arugula salad, steak frites, pear) and friendly, attentive service
Brunch was good but presentation of food lacking. Service fine and outdoor eating
