Rosebud Prime Ratings and Reviews
Although I've dined here many times for business lunches, I have not been for dinner very often. It was the perfect place before the theater - service was timed very nicely, food was very good and all very convenient to the theater. Our only complaint would be the sides that we had. Every one of them was very dry - not sure if that was intentional or they'd just been over cooked - the rest of the meal was excellent.
We were out for ladies night for dinner before seeing a musical down the street. The service was really considerate and amazingly accommodating. We had a group of us (2) join late and order from the car. Apparently, one of these people ordered from the website instead of off of the menu and they just made it work, wow! On top of that with the ordering timing, it ended up that their meals arrived, just at my late friends arrived at the door. Timing couldn't have been better. And, I'm sure our payment method with partial cash and then splitting among 4 credit cards wasn't easy either. But our server made it seem easy, and we were ready to get our our play with just enough time. We really had a wonderful time. The food was great. I had the special, Risotto with scallops and we shared sides of mashed potatoes and mushrooms among the 5 of us. My friend had one of the fish specials and it was amazing. The seating area is vibrant, but it's nice because you can hear each other, but our neighbor's conversations didn't bother us. Great job.
The overall experience was outstanding. The service was exceptional. The quality of the seafood and steak are always superior. The manager was amazing. He personally came
to our table the minute the food arrived to ensure everything was prepared to our liking and
he personally got our coats and escorted us out. We have dined her many times before
a show and they always make sure we are done in time for the performance. We love the live jazz piano music that is played during dinner as well. This place truly has style, class, and a commitment to the best in food and service.
My client and each I ordered Lobster Salad and Pumpkin Soup for lunch today. After a few bites of my soup I realized that the underside of my soup spoon was caked with two disgusting, thick, dishwasher-hardened, globs of ick that had been somewhat softened by being immersed in the soup (which was lukewarm). I called over the maitre d' and showed him what I had found. He took the spoon and began to walk away to get me another spoon with which to eat the tainted soup. I called him back and he took the soup away. The waitperson returned with a new bowl of lukewarm soup and a clean spoon, proudly announcing that this spoon had been checked. For a $100 lunch, you'd think that they would at least comp the soup. I'm still grossed out and queasy. If it was my restaurant I would have been mortified I'll never be back.
Very pleasant greeting from maitre d and person seating us. We asked for quieter spot and were taken upstairs to corner booth. Definitely would have been quieter, but overhead fan blowing directly on us, so moved to another table. Got seated there and immediately discovered one of the glasses had a hole in the bottom, so water was pouring through, drenching the table cloth. and items in that section the table. Were brought to a third table. It was fine, but closer to downstairs so much higher noise level, which did make conversation for a group of 4 more difficult. Food overall excellent, however each couple ordered prime rib to split. One requested medium and the other medium rare. Both came out cooked one level less well than that. The couple with the medium accepted it, the couple with the medium rare (which was rarer than we ever had seen meat cooked to that specification--and we all have been "around the block" a few times!) sent it back for further cooking. Meanwhile the servers chose to divide the first cut between the two women, which was fine. Except first they had to find additional plates, while the meat and accompaniments were sitting "cooling off," and this also meant the two men were not served for a few additional minutes. The servers also had to get proper knives for cutting the meat. The server staff did not seem particularly well coordinated, though very pleasant. The food WAS delicious, but these several aspects did detract from the meal. We did not complain, the maitre d did come by to check on us, and did acknowledge us as we left. Two of us are locals who have frequented both this Rosebud and several others numerous times. We like the chain, overall, but clearly there is some work to be done with the items mentioned here.
Why was I asked if this is a special occasion when I made reservations online? I indicated that it was our Anniversary yet there was absolutely no recognition of such at the hostess stand nor a special desert brought out by the wait staff. Don't ask if you're not going to do something about it. I had an expectation that wasn't met.
Not a good night overall. Decided to go there after having had wonderful experiences at the original Rosebud on Rush years ago. The meatball appetizer was good and the Brussels Sprouts were also well prepared and tasty and generous portions.. The roasted beet salad was awful because it was loaded with a bunch of greens that tasted like they hadn't been washed and the beets were cut so small that they got completely lost in this giant bowl of greens. I ordered the Alaskan king crab for my dinner and had to send it back. It was mushy and had no flavor. They took it away and brought me back another plate, even though I didn't necessarily want it at that point. I tried one of those pieces and they were pretty much the same, so I ended up sending it back too. The original serving was an extremely small portion. I would say maybe one and a half legs cut up. My guest had the queen cut of the prime rib and he said it was just okay and not great. The manager was nice about removing the crab. The waiter was very good too.
I took my son to the Rosebud to celebrate his 14th birthday before we attended an evening performance of Les Mis. I mentioned the occasion in our reservation but it was not acknowledged by the restaurant. I researched the Rosebud online before making the reservation as my son is gluten free and wanted pasta. There is an entire Rosebud gluten free menu available online complete with pasta dishes so I felt comfortable making the reservation. This was not a good choice because I was told when we went to order that this is a steak house and they do not have gluten free pasta. He chose grilled shrimp and I felt terrible that he didn't get the meal he was hoping for. The meal was delicious, if not pricey, especially the steak. The ambiance was great though and we managed to have a good time.
We were eating before going to the Cadillacs Palace. Our waiter went out of his way, even with a packed house, to ask the manager if our car would be able to stay at the valet until after the play had finished. The manager came to our table after he found out what time the play would end to assure us the car would be available after the play ended. It was so much easier and CHEAPER to pay the valet than move it and pay parking by the theater. That was above and beyond service!! Thanks!!!
First time at Rosebud Prime for me. We had some wine at the bar prior to dining in. I had the ribeye and my friend had the filet. We also ordered the Brussel sprouts w/bacon and the mashed potatoes. The ribeye was excellent. . .I let my friend choose the sides and I figured anything is good with bacon. . . and I was not wrong. The mashed potatoes were perfect. It was a pity that we did not have room for dessert. The only "issue" I had was that we kept getting interrupted when we were trying to talk. I had not seen my friend in 5 years so we were catching up while eating and it seemed like they were in a rush to get us out. . . there was definitely was enough open tables.
Wow! Rosebud Prime was as outstanding as all the recommendations we were given. We had calamari to start, which was good. I had the 10oz filet that was so tender I could cut it with a fork. My husband had the sea bass and liked it. We shared the brussels and steak fries, both were delicious. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The heads of house were made sure our meals and experience was perfect. Highly recommended!
We ate outside on a beautiful early October day. The setting was great especially for thhis time of year.
Our server was stand-offish and never made us feel welcome. He had a dissatisfied look on his face when he approached our table.
There are many good places to dine al fresco. Had the service been better I would definitely recommend this place.
