The food was average. The portions for seafood is small and everything is ala Carte. With sides, we still left unfulfilled. For the price, I guess stick with the steak
We had two steaks and the portions were large. Attentive service. Would recommend for an intimate dinner.
Had a delicious meal and wonderful evening. Our waiter, Abdul, was very personable and attentive.
My wife & I were going to a show downtown and decided to have dinner at Rosebud Prime before the show.
I had made a reservation so they sat us immediately upon arrival and the great service began. The server came to us right away and welcomed us and asked if we were going to a show so he could make sure we would be done in time.
The service throughout the time we were there was absolutely fantastic. We both ordered prime rib and it was cooked exactly the way we like it and it was delicious. We really appreciated that the server stopped at our table several times while we were eating to make sure everything was ok.
We will definitely be returning when we don’t have a show to go to so we can spend more time enjoying the great food .
Thank you Rosebud Prime.
Omg this place is so amazing. Love love love this place
Great steak, great sides and a great waiter. Walking distance from many buildings in the loop. Parking next door, and valet parking for dinner. I was there for a lunch.
Everything was great! The food, the ambiance, the service. Steak Houses like these are what Chicago is all about. We chose it more for location than anything else, it was a short walk from the Palmer House Hilton and around the corner from the theatre.
Our server (Victor) was terrific! Charming, personable and extremely attentive without being intrusive.
Our bacon wrapped scallops starter dish was excellent, but the BBQ sauce somewhat overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the scallops.
My filet oscar was first class, and done perfectly.
My wife had the Dover sole, which was definitely not to a high standard. The fish came out tough and undercooked, of which Victor was aware when he began to debone the fish. He returned it to the kitchen, but when served it was extremely tough and not edible. The maitre'd stopped by to see how our dinner was, and we mentioned it. They could not have been more accommodating and generous- offered to replace it (we had tix to Hamilton so couldn't wait), offered complimentary dessert, coffee or drink ( we were much too full!), and removed the sharpe from the tab.
This is really a wonderful restaurant, and we look forward to returning our next trip to Chicago!
Jarvis, our server, was top notch. The eggplant parm was to die for!
Our server(Jarvis ) was obviously a new hire and was very nervous, we ordered a New York strip which we were shAring, ordered the steak medium rare, and when it was cut and served it was well done I would have thought that with all the supervision this gentleman had someone would have looked at the order and realized it was not cooked properly, however once it was served, I had to call them over and ask for a steak to be redone. They removed the meat, left the Brussels sprouts on the plate to get cold. They did bring us fresh order of sprouts, however then we had a plate of them and a side plate, would have made more sense to take the whole plate away and return with fresh everything?? Steak when served second time was done correctly and was delicious. For a restaurant of this caliber I would have expected much more in service and food.
The service is fantastic, top notch, and the food delivers to the same standard. Quality of the steaks is as promised, and the delivery, including a flaming brandy peppercorn sauce, was fantastic.
Steak was excellent as always but the recipe for the chicken dish has changed since our last visit. Too much lemon and a bit too spicy. We were told they had a new chef. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
Nice atmosphere. Food was good, not great, for the price. Definitely better steak places around.
The restaurant was beautiful. Menu was lacking in choices. Veal parm was way over priced and overly thick breading and cheese. I was scraping the breading and cheese off just so I could taste the veal. Same issue with my husbands dinner which was chicken parm. Overall I’ve had much better food other places. I will say that The service was on point though and everyone was very attentive.
The portions were too big!! We should have listened to our server when he suggested we share entrees and side dishes. We were on a bus/theater trip, staying in a hotel, and were unable to take the leftovers, unfortunately. Why are the portion so HUGE????????
My meal (scallops, sauteed spinach) was fabulous and very delicious. However, the Caesar salad (I ordered a half salad) was ordinary. The lettuce did not look like romaine, but resembled head lettuce and had no distinct flavor.
The service was impeccable and our server was very friendly and helpful. It was so noisy (6 PM reservation) that the six of us were shouting at each other.
We chose this restaurant for the proximity to the theatre district. We had a wonderful meal and the server, Timothy, was a very attentive. The food was hot and delicious when it was served promptly. We would definitely dine at this restaurant again.
The food and service were top notch. The GM Angelo was very professional and accommodating.
Came here with my husband before seeing a show at the Cadillac Theater. We had a calamari starter, scallops and gnocchi for me, petit filet for my husband, and shared the Brussels sprouts. The food was all absolutely amazing, especially the filet and Brussels sprouts. The meal was very pricey, over $200 for the both of us including a bottle of Cabernet, but very worth it. The service was incredibly attentive and friendly- they timed our meal perfectly given the start time of our show. We can't wait to find another occasion to have a dinner here.
Mino is the best captain in the city, the food is very good and the room is excellent. Outstanding place for a business lunch
We were a bit nervous because we took our three kids (ages 9, 12, and 15), but the staff made them feel not only welcomed, but special, and the waiter (who was amazing - Victor!) made a couple suggestions for them that were spot-on! Food and service were excellent. We will go back and highly recommend if you are willing to spend at least $40/person. Very close to the CIBC theater, which was an added benefit for us.
Outstanding food and service! Always a winner!
The food at Rosebud is always good. However, we were particularly impressed with our quick service. We told our waiter we were on our way to see a play at 8:00 pm. Our dinner was served quickly to accommodate us, yet everything was still delicious. Thank you.
It was awesome!
I had been to other Rosebud restaurants many, many times, but never to Rosebud Prime. So, everything about our meal was a complete and unexpected delight. As I said to my husband when we walked in, “Wow. This is a BIG Girl restaurant!” The food was uniformly delicious. There were 3 of us, and our eclectic choices included salmon, a cheeseburger, and a steak.—literally every corner of the menu. The pianist was a delightful touch. The service was charming, attentive, and totally responsive to our need to get to the theater on time. I simply can’t wait to go back.
I wpould have given Rosebud Prime a 100% rating but the green beans with the Dover Sole were soggy. However the Dover sole was to die for.
Chicago has plenty of great steak houses. For our money this is not one of them. We were seated rather quickly which on a Saturday night in the theater district can be a challenge. After what seemed like forever the waiter finally took our order. For an appetizer I ordered the corn jalapeno chowder my wife order the house salad. My soup arrived almost immediately and was hot and quite tasty. We both ordered a steak my wife the fillet the Delmonico. When the steaks arrived they both looked fantastic. That was where it ended. Both of our steaks were near cold and so salty it was more of a salt lick than a steak. We have had better steaks at out local chain restaurant. The service was slow but when they were there they were attentive. It look longer than expected so we opted not to go for dessert . Oh you are probably wondering what my wife thought of her house salad. We don't know it never came. I had forgotten and she said something to me on the way out.
There are so many wonderful restaurants in Chicago do yourself a favor and find one of those. This one is just kind of average (which is a shame because we do like Rosebud Italian go there you will like it.
What a disappointment! For years one of my Chicago steakhouse favorites...and I may never go back. Cold French onion soup; bland, dry mashed potatoes that were inedible; and an undercooked and flavorless prime rib that was so tough you could hardly cut it with a steak knife. Of course they made it up by comping us with a dessert we didn’t want. When I drop $300 on a restaurant experience, I want it to be memorable because it was good, not bad. Go anywhere else...
The food and service here always exceed expectations. And the oysters Rockefeller - WOW!!
My husband had the Pork Chop Milanese and said it was the best he has ever had. I had the Halibut which I also enjoyed very much. We shared two sides which were delicious and plenty for the two of us. We also shared the chopped salad which is the only thing I am not going to rate highly. It was average - average ingredients and the dressing lacked flavor. With everything else being so good I am calling them out on the salad - definitely room for improvement.
Crab cakes were very good, my steak was good, but the duck was tough and too gamey. I have had better, and at that price, we were disappointed.
Took my girlfriend here for a late Valentine Day dinner. She's super picky and typically hates congested areas. Rosebud accommodated both of our issues. It's now one of her rare favorites.
This restaurant is higher priced than most, but you are paying for an experience that is second to none. From the second we walked in the door, they made us feel special and welcome. Many places can serve you good food and wine, but this is one of the few rare places that goes above and beyond every time you are there.
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was outstanding. Our table placement was mediocre as I felt that we were sat in the middle of an aisle and there was constant traffic. Other than our table every seat in the place was great. Live piano and full bar. The service was outstanding.
I was not pleased with my food I asked for medium well the steak came back over well done, burnt. I initially thought I would’ve getting the porterhouse with the Valentine’s Day special, but they ran out so they offered us two pieces of small burnt steak instead. I would not recommend this restaurant. I did not enjoy my food at all. The waiter also acted as if it was a hassle when I asked for simple things like a refill on water.
Great food, Great Service, Great Venue and even though-because of traffic issues--we were late--they held our tablet and seated us immediately with a warm welcome!
Dinner after Seeing Hamilton
Abdul was an excellent server, food was delicious, generous portions. Highly recommend and will go again.
The food was great. There were four in our group. Between us we ordered the filet, lamb (2) and a pasta dish. All of them were perfect. Jay was our waiter and he took very good care of us.
