Rosebud on Rush Ratings and Reviews
Rosebud is a classic old-school Italian restaurant in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. Everything I've had has been outstanding. Their sauces, especially the marinara and vodka sauces, make the meal and the portions are very generous. But besides the food, the service is first rate. Our server, Mary, took great care of us and made sure everyone got great service too. Johnny, the general manager, checked in with us regularly to make sure everything was going smoothly. (If you have room for dessert, the cannoli are made to order and among the best we've had.) If you like classic Italian food, friendly attentive service and an energetic atmosphere, Rosebud is the place.

Several restaurants over the years for our two day stay, and added and omitted restaurants over the several years; NEVER ROSEBUD, we all agree.
Only suggestion; we had 6:30 reservations on a Sat. in Dec. which I know is a very busy time. expect to wait awhile, but very little space for all the people waiting; carryout items were behind me, and cold by the door, and excuse me from workers trying to keep up with the busy time. Totally understand how busy things are and they handle things great. BUT; you need a larger area for people waiting to be seated with reservations at Rosebud. People sent to bar downstairs , joined us crowded in the waiting room in no time, since the bar was apparently overcrowded too.
This is my favorite restaurant from the Rosebud chain and and is my pick for an Italian restaurant in general in Chicago. The food is amazing, full of great flavors. The portions are very generous and the food comes out very fast for such a busy restaurant. I Love the veal Marsala! And my wife love the cavatapi pasta In marinara sauce. The stuffed mushrooms appetizer is out of this world. Try the massive tiramisu for desert you will be very happy or al least your taste betters will. The general manager is awesome he greets you when he sees you come into the restaurant all the wait staff make you feel like your coming back home to your mothers house for a great meal. They will make reasonable changes to the meals for you and do their best to make you happy, have a great experience and leave the restaurant satisfied. I've dined here for many years and highly recommended that you do as well.
I have had dinner at this Rosebud before and typically it is a great experience. I booked a reservation a week in advance and still waited 20 minutes past my reservation time to get seated. It was a Saturday evening, but that's why I made a reservation.
We also ate downstairs near the bar area. the bar was very overcrowded and I had many people way too close for me to enjoy our dinner. For example, constant trafiice past our table, people bumping into it, people's backsides inches away from us. not a way to enjoy a dinner. Probably will not go back on weekends, or ask for a table away from the bar area.
This is our 4th dinner at Rosebud and it was excellent as always. I had the special, lobster ravioli with a light sauce and large shrimp which was excellent. My husband had the lasagna which he enjoyed very much. Our 8 month grandbaby was with us and everyone was very attentive to her. I think she enjoyed the friendly ambiance, too.
I met my cousin for apps and drinks on a weeknight. The martinis are fabulous, but also pricey ($15). The oysters are AMAZING, the salad sizeable, and the calamari was tasty. The service was awesome- our server was extremely attentive and answered many questions we had about the menu.
I love Rosebuds. It is one of my mother's favorite spots, so any time she comes into town to visit me, this is where we go. The wait staff and managers are all always amazing and top notch. This past visit we recognized the manager from great service on our last visit, so we complemented him. He then offered us free dessert and a good will gesture. So thoughtful. Never had a bad experience there! This time I ordered the parm crusted chicken salad and it was amazing. One of the better salads I have had dining out. Of course we also ordered the square noodles, which are always a hit! Highly recommend.
We came here for my daughters 3rd birthday. They all made her feel so special. They were so accommodating to children. And it was so enjoyable for my husband and I. Our server, Alena (sp?) went above and beyond any expectations one would have for a server. We went during Christmas time and it was so beautiful and festive inside- truly puts you in the Christmas spirit. And the food was sooo delicious. Can’t wait to go back.
