Food was fabulous. The baked cavitelli, chicken visuvio, and veal visuvio were excellent. Veal was perfectly cooked. The sautéed spinach was also delicious. No room for dessert. Service was very slow tonight. One hour to get food. 30 minutes for check. 20 minutes to pay. We’ll try it again because of the food.
While the food we had was very good, we made a mistake by dining outside. Way too noisy to the point of being disruptive. Our waitress was ok but not as attentive as she should have been. She serviced a group that came in after we were seated before taking care of us. The manager stepped in a number of times to make sure we were taken care of. The manager should never have to do that, especially at a well known, established restaurant. The average service from the waitress and the disruptive ambience aside, the food is very good. Skip the Nonna's chocolate cake if ordering desert. The slice I was given was absolutely huge, but unfortunately very dry.
Food was fantastic and the helpings, generous. Great wine selection
Loud, loud, loud. But great food and service.
With reservations we were sat at the kitchen door and the evening went down hill from there. From the in and out of the waitstaff on a Friday night, to our view of the kitchen where we could see and hear a cook with a very wet sounding cough prepare meals. Although he was masked but I silently questioned if he should be a work especially preparing food. Once the food arrived, the meatballs was room temperature at the outside and cold at the middle. They seem to be microwaved. I gave up on the meal and asked for the check. Our Waiter was pleasant and attentive but with the many other dining options in the area I can say that I will not return on my next visit to Chicago.
We had an outstanding meal, sharing a seafood stew with fresh pasta.
My Chicken Parmesan which is my favorite at Rosebud was pounded paper thing, and thus was dry and overcooked. I mentioned my disappointment to Marco the GM and he gave his card and told me to ask for him on my next visit and he would make it right.
We’ll try again soon and hopefully have a better and more normal experience.
Server Miguel was courteous and attentive. He and the kitchen staff did a great job meeting my wife’s food allergy needs.
Everything was fabulous food and atmosphere-wise.
My only critique was we felt rushed. The waiter kept coming back every 2minutes, literally, to see if we were ready to order. We had just ordered drinks and an appetizer.
And they weren’t that busy.
Great, noise was no fault of the restaurant
It was a great time with great food and great service. The portions were also large and allowed us to take home leftovers!
Great customer service! Large food portions and delicious pasta
Our server was very attentive and helpful. The food came out super quick and was delicious!
Just ok but pricey
I have been to Rosebud on Rush here in Chicago for dinner sevarel times but most recently went to dinner there w/ my husband for our 5 year wedding anniversary this past Saturday night on June 12.
At first, we were seated by the hostess in a corner table but requested to move to another table that was quieter away from a loud bigger table of 10 initially by us.
The waiter who assisted us agreed on the move and was super attentive to us the whole time and gifted us w/ a fabulous complimentary cannoli dessert w/ a candle later!
The tortallini carbonara pasta dish I had for dinner was delicious and my husband enjoyed his pork chops w/ pasta, thank you Rosebud!
The food was terrible. How an Italian landmark can screw up a basic caesar salad, calamari and brushetta is beyond me. Really awful food, very disappointing. Service was very good but it didn't make up for the lousy food. Won't be back.
I had a lovely lunch and my guests chose meals off the brunch menu we all were very happy. Though it took a little too long to get the bill but all in all wonderful!
Food was terrific as always. Service was spotty. Hard to get our waiter for requests. We were seated near the bar and had people standing close and ordering drinks and overpowering our table. It was not the experience we sought at this price.
Good food. Felt really rushed as they wanted to turn the tables . Good overall. Good service
Great food. HUGE portions. Come hungry and/or share some plates.
Rosebud is a must-stop for us when visiting Chicago. Italian like you can't get anywhere else and authentic, attentive wait staff. Generous portions and great desserts, all in a rich, cozy setting.
I hadn’t been here in years because I’m from California and COVID has restricted my travel but now that most people are vaccinated we can have a nice dinner like the old days. Rosebud on Rush has excellent food, just like I remember it with great drinks. I had the pasta primavera which had fresh vegetables and enough seasoning to be flavorful without being too heavy. I’m a big guy and I could only eat half of it. The caprese salad appetizer was also delicious and very fresh. My wife had the baked ziti that she could only eat half of. I was craving the tiramisu but I didn’t have enough room in my stomach so I took it to go, it’ll be my dessert tonight and I’m looking forward to it.
Entree came less than five minutes from the time our salad arrived. The whole meal seemed like we were being rushed out. The pressure to turn tables was very much felt and we were seated and had our check brought in about 70 minutes (Pre dinner drink, salad, entrees, and a bottle of wine).
Very lax dress code. 7pm dinner on a Saturday night and people were being seated wearing cut off shorts, tshirts and flip flops. Historic Rosebud on Rush or is this an Olive Garden?
Food, wine list and quality of drinks is all that saved this restaurant. I'm far from a snob or blue blood. Just pointing out the above because it may not be what you might expect on a weekend on Rush Street.
First time. Food was great. We sat outside on the patio so it was noisy at times due to traffic but that’s what you expect sitting outside. Would definitely go back again.
Flat noodles and patio seating were fantastic!
A shadow of its former glory. Calamari served with cocktail sauce(!!).....at an “Italian” restaurant?!? Caesar salad came without anchovies as advertised. In general not worth the time to visit.
Came here for our anniversary dinner and got seated in the circus lights. It was very loud but that's expected for any restaurant on a Saturday night. The food was ok, the cocktail was good. I got the tortellini and the mushrooms were straight-up raw. The server only came to check on us after we were done eating then felt kind of rushed out. Later in the night both my partner and I felt really sick. I don't think I'd come back here again but it wasn't the worst experience.
When we sat, I large table was very loud. Appetizer took a long time to come out. A table of 5 that was seated about 20-30 mins after we were received their food before we did. Even though we had placed our food at least 30 minutes before they did. Ended up leaving before food arrived and manager never came by to hear my concerns.
As I was leaving I had to request to speak with the manager to make him aware of the sun-par experience I had.
we were seated in the outdoor area, but, it was enclosed due to the weather and had no ambiance at all. our waiter was difficult to track down to order drinks and that became very annoying. we were celebrating a birthday, but, that didn't happen until we were ready to leave. i usually love this place, but, will think twice about going back since there are so many other great italian choices.
we really enjoyed the food and our server was good. I would highly recommend the calamari and mussel appetizers.
Food always great. Portions huge. Veal ans Chicken Parmigiana cover a big plate. Good service. Fun people watching on the covered patio
Rude. Over priced. Average food
Perfection! Food excellent and service to match. Will return.
Delicious Greek Omelet and Eggs Benedict. A delicious plate of two cannolis with a candle were complementary for my wife’s birthday!
Great food and terrific service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chicago.
The best Italian we ate in Chicago! The staff was friendly, the service was great and fast. The food tasted amazing!
Very big portions.
Outstanding food. Great variety and high quality. Generous portions.
My children love this restaurant. Huge portions on salad and Alfredo. Great service. Outdoor seatings is super for hanging out casually and people watching.
