Outside was very very loud. Inside was much quieter, but doesn’t change the food was amazing and service was tops.
We ate outside, unfortunately between two factions of the Loud Family. The caprese salad in the height of tomato season had very unripe tomatoes. My whitefish was saltier than I expected. Hubby’s veal parmigiana was over-cheesed, but he was able to peel it off. Overall, 4 out of 5.
Food and service were awesome. Andres was phenomenal, attending to our every need. Absolutely wonderful evening , great food, great service, very nice ambiance on the patio
Amazing! Loved everything. Food was to die for.
Outstanding massive salads/order one to share minimum 2 people
We are regulars. We ate half of our entree and THEY offered to box the rest. They lost it and still tried to slip in the full bill stating "it happens". When I exclaimed "it sure is expensive to only get half" ... only then did our waiter say he would see what he could do. Yes - he ultimately took off for the meal but not without his digs the entire time of "it happens". We come here all the time and to lose half of what we pay for - which is expensive - for the "it happens all the time" reason is a lame excuse. We will return but hope not to get this waiter. Terrible service. Absolutely horrible this visit!
I always enjoy the food at Rosebuds. Whenever I am in Chicago I try to eat there
Was a birthday dinner. Waiter was excellent.
Very good food, big portions, nice staff! Very good recommendation on wine and food! Definitely would come here again!
We went for our anniversary. We ate outside because it was a gorgeous Chicago morning.
The food was great! The service was fantastic!
Great dinner! Jay was a great waiter!
It was a fantastic dinner, great service and good food. Shrimp Fettuccine, lasagna and Caesar salad to die for.
Great food, great date place. We sat out on the patio for a date. Only downside is the occassional EMS (we had one, but it was very brief), and the wait staff was persistent with assistance to the point where I thought they were trying to rush us, but the place was not packed (we were seated a normal 2-person seat and other 2-person seats were available).
Overall great experience! I will be going back again! The day I went must be an off day. I would recommend.
We came to celebrate a very special occasion and the unfriendly, irritable server really put a damper on our day.
We were in the basement of the restaurant for a date night and our waiter and the rest of the servers were excellent. The food was great. If ordering a salad, you probably only need 1 for 2 people. The pasta tasted very good and the sauces were fresh
Pleasant lunch, well prepared food and an attentive server. Nice!
Not so sure these old world restaurants are competitive to the more modern fine Italian restaurants in Chicago.
Was in Chicago on a trip and came across this restaurant at random. So glad we were able to get in. Food and service were amazing! I had the baked cavatelli and I’m still dreaming about it! Portion sizes are very large. Could definitely split a salad and meal between two people, or have plenty for leftovers.
My mom has been coming here while she visits Chicago for over 25 years, she had to recommend to me when my best friend and I came into town for her birthday. It was such a classic experience and the food and service was amazing. Our server was obviously very busy and he handled everything perfectly! Coming from two servers we always recognize when someone is putting a best foot forward. Can’t wait to come back!!
Always one of our favorite places. Consistent and delicious! Professional servers make the experience a delight every time… keeps us coming back for more. Thanks
Very loud upstairs.
Fried calamari was tender, tortellini and baked ziti were delicious and abundant. Drinks on the high side, but good. Very noisy.
Fantastic service, large portions, delicious food! Will go again!
Just ok. Service wasn’t the greatest.
The bread is at best 'retail', which is very sad. Also, and I can't believe they run a restaurant in this manner. when adjacent tables (outside seating) are 'cleaned', the staff simply brushes crumbs and anything remaining on a table onto the floor. It's rather disgusting to observe. Beyond that, the staff also must have extensive experience working in a traditional diner - all the dirty plates and silverware are dumped into the bins without any regard for the noise doing so creates. Both items diminish greatly the dining experience. That said, the food is reliable enough.
Great food and service as usual.
First time there and loved it. Service was great. Busboy service was best we have had in years. Great night and great food.
Great food, veal parmigiana and spaghetti w/meatballs was amazing. Service was awesome!! Really enjoyed our dinner😀
One of my favorite restaurants anywhere, but always when in Chicago. Their vodka sauce is outstanding, visuvio among other dishes are fabulous.
Authentic Italian food in portions from the good old days. Wow!
Good selection of salads beautifully presented. Good portions very tasty.
Marco, thank you for being so patient and kind when we were a whole 35 mins late lol
The food was delicious, the jumbo lump crab cake Benedict was perfection. What a gem of a place!
Great night at one of our favorite restaurants!
We have dined here several times and this was a big disappointment!! We always get their mussels and they were always very large and delicious. This time they were minuscule and didn’t taste all that great. If their provider can’t come up with the size and quality that we have come to expect over the years they should pull them from the menu until they can. Also, we had their Tortellini Carbonara. It was pathetic. The sauce was pretty tasteless and way too thick. There we a few pieces of bacon and some peas but the dish was very disappointing. As I mentioned, we have eaten here several times on our trips to Chicago and this is the first time that we haven’t had a great meal. I’d love to know what happened and hope that they get it corrected. We love eating outside and the energy. Thanks
Ordered Caesar salad and a sausage and peppers combo, I can’t recall the title on the menu but it was delicious. These items were really good and would order them again. We also ordered mussels which I’ve ordered a dozen times before and have always been delicious. The mussels themselves were a little bit underwhelming but the preparation with white white wine sauce was good. I would try them again though.. I cannot say enough about the service, these guys are really the best. They are so professional and accommodating, they follow through on every request. Go and enjoy!!
Great food. Excellent service
Our waiter was great. (Sal) and all of the other staff was attentive and it made a nice evening.
The only issue was the noise level inside was really loud. Don’t expect a quite dinner.
Pastas were ordered at our table, plentiful, served beautifully a d delicious. We celebrated a birthday and loved the wonderful treat at the end of the meal
Our server was excellent, food delicious and ambience, sublime.
