About Rosebud Italian Specialties & Pizzeria
Rosebud Italian Specialties & Pizzeria provides an innovative perspective on traditional Italian cuisine with a chef driven, weekly changing menu, focusing on regional dishes and fresh ingredients. In addition to Rosebud classics including Chicken Vesuvio and Square Noodles which are staples on the menu, thin crust, Chicago-style pizzas smothered in an assortment of toppings are a fresh addition. Pies are large enough for a table to share as an appetizer, encouraging guests to savor the flavors and one another’s company before indulging in a second course. The goal is to present two distinct dining options, a more casual, family friendly pizzeria offering carry-out as well as a white tablecloth dining room where pizzas are served in addition to the weekly menu. The energetic atmosphere throughout both spaces is casual rustic Italian with striking hardwood floors, a Stone Pizza Oven, and an Antipasto Bar, providing an ideal atmosphere to enjoy a relaxing meal.

Rosebud Italian Specialties & Pizzeria Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day here. It wasn't on the day, so not as crowded as we've experienced in the past. Pace of the meal was perfect. I had the baked ziti and my wife had the baked cavatelli, both were excellent. And don't miss the chocolate layer cake for dessert! Last but not least, we ate our fill and still carried out plenty for another meal and dessert.
Arriving 25 minutes early for our Rez we went to the bar and couldn’t get a drink. Bar tenders wouldn’t pay attention to guests. Steak was way over cooked and the waiter forgot things. My 8 finger pasta was great but the service was frustrating. I’m not sure I’ll ever go back.
Long wait even with reservation, no apology offered until being seated even though several hostesses were at the hostess stand talking with each other. Food good as usual but the wait and service slow. Of course, we will return, like the food, and see if it happens again.
We always love Rosebud. The food is plentiful and always good. Our waitress was very attentive and even made sure we had an extra glass of ice for our ice tea. We enjoyed the veal parm and spaghetti and meatballs. We had a little wait (20 minutes) but the booth we were seated at made up for the wait. We will be back!
We went to Rosebud after having it recommended to us several times. I like Italian food and was looking forward to trying another restaurant in Downtown Naperville. It did not live up to the hype. The food was mediocre, and I was really disappointed by the drinks and the price.
At best the food can be described as fine. It was average, plain Italian food with unnecessarily oversized portions. There was nothing that we ordered that I felt like I would want to go back and get again. I ordered an old fashioned to drink and had to send it back because it tasted and looked like water (I have never in my life sent a drink back). They re-made it and it was the exact same. I can honestly say it was the worst drink I've ever tasted at a restaurant.
Finally, the price. For two people it was $120. Not worth the money at all. Will never go back.
Not only were we sat 20 minutes late, we were squeezed into a very tight space where there was not even enough room for our waiter to stand at the table, he had to stand on the corner behind my husband. I asked the waiter about the positioning of the table adjacent to us which was creating the uncomfortable tightness between tables and he said the party next to us had requested it be that way and that they would change the table back to the correct positioning after they left. They never did. The food arrived almost immediately which was nice but also a bit odd, as if it were not made fresh. Zero ambiance in this place. Not impressed at all and would not return.
We walked in with high expectations having tried this restaurant before for happy hour, with drinks and a few appetizers in the past!
We ordered Chicken with lemon sauce and capers which comes with pasta. It was just okay, have tried way better at so many other Italian restaurants.
Hand rolled pasta with ricotta tasted very doughy and we asked for that to be replaced with a cheese pizza.
The godiva chocolate cake was yum and big enough to be shared by 2-4 people.
Service was great, food lacked flavor.
I'd rather go to other similar places in the area!
We were there for dinner, made reservation at 7:30, arrived at 7:15 thinking they would sit us at 7:30, but that was not the case. We were seated at 7:45 because we were told they were sitting people who had reservations at 7:00 even though they arrived at 7:35. Why were we penalized for others not being on time? Very disappointing!
Unfortunately, the noise level was so high, we needed to yell and raise our voices to be heard. We were seated near the kitchen and the waiter station, which was probably the poorest seat in the restaurant. When I asked him, the waiter said that the pork chops were "slightly spicy." Even accounting for individual tastes, I found them to be extremely spicy, and did not enjoy them (an expensive meal that wasn't even 1/4 finished). The valet service ($7.00) was a necessity since there is very very little parking available nearby. The valet took my keys and left them in the unlocked car as he walked away to take care of other customers. The car could have very easily been stolen since no one was watching it. I happened to still be standing in the area and I asked him to please not leave the keys on the seat. He was not happy with my request, and stomped off to retrieve the keys and lock the car. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I haven't been to Rosebuds for a while and in an attempt to try something different, we went. It is fussy, but not too fussy. It wasn't cheap, but a decent value. Service was very good, but not great. But the food was very good. We will be back. We enjoyed the experience. I did like that it was quiet enough to talk across the table, however the restaurant was not full. Still it seems loud is what some restaurants want, why I don't know, but I hate it.
Lunch was good, we each had a salad, pretty pricey for lettuce. Service was off from what we have had in the past. My wife ordered soup and salad with salad dressing on the side. They dressed the salad and forgot the soup. They offered to make a new one but she said no.
What a disappointment. I ordered mussels, one of my favorite dishes. The first one I ate was fine. The second one was gritty. The third and fourth were even worse. In my 40+ years of dining out, I've sent dishes back twice. This was one of those times. The mussels were, frankly, inedible. I ended up eating half of my husband's salad as my entree. My husband fared no better. His veal piccata was fine, but the side of pasta with garlic and olive oil was SWEET! It was the strangest tasting pasta with garlic and olive oil we've ever tasted. The entire meal was a disaster. We won't be returning.
It was New Years Eve and we were seated at 8:30 for a 7:30 reservation. This was most likely due to people lingering at their tables and no Faust of the restaurant. The bartenders did a great job taking care of all the people waiting to be seated. Food was excellent and was served promptly without feeling rushed.
We celebrated New Years Eve at Rosebud's as we did the last couple of years and nothing has changed. The food and service was great. Their special menu as well as their regular was open to choose from. Also liked the valet service there as it gets very crowded.
What a disappointing meal tonight at Rosebud Naperville. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday with her parents.
First, my mother-in-law orders a glass of wine, a reisling. They didn't bother to tell us they were out and simply gave her something else... without mentioning it. Well, she noticed. Who wouldn't? I believe it was the bartender, as he basically ignored me when I asked for a drink menu. Second, they also ran out of the replacement for the reisling. Third, the two chicken alfredos were sour in taste. Though removed from the bill, they did so after tax, not before. I guess it's the newer new math. Honestly, that's a first for me.
Oh and we did get a free dessert. So.... there's that...
Katie as hostess & Dylan as our server were both excellent. Took our parents out for Christmas Eve lunch and they were very attentive to the needs of long time Naperville residents & now seniors.
Portions are extremely generous (leftovers galore). Menu is diverse and interesting.
We have visited the former & this location.
We all felt that salt content in all dishes could really be reduced - let the decide more on that.
Overall very nice holiday lunch experience and great to take the parents out in downtown Naperville - where they have lived for 64 years.
I do not appreciate showing up for my reservation and being told to wait at the bar for 20 minutes until we text you
I counted over a dozen empty tables we could have been seated at immediately.
We end up seated at a booth that was empty when we arrived. What gives with this - just trying to add to my bar bill?
I’d really like an explanation
Sorry, but not that impressed. We were seated, bread given to us with a small pate of olive oil big enough for only one piece of bread. There were three of us. Server impatient when we asked for more time to determine our drinks. Never did get lemon that was asked for.I'm a good eater, but HATE when I am congratulated when I clean my plate. What, I'm not supposed to? Why are servers surprised and act shocked when this happens? Bill totally messed up. My meal rung up on my friends card. Just not memorable.
