Rosebud Italian Specialties & Pizzeria
My service was poor and my food (veal) was tough. Not a good visit this time with them.
This is one of our favorite restaurants! Service is always outstanding, food is always hot and delicious. We always joke that many other restaurants could learn a lot from the Rosebud staff. . .
Our meal was outstanding. My husband and I both ordered the Chicken Vesuvio and shared a Caesar Salad. Our waiter was mediocre, but there were enough busboys to attend to our table. The restaurant was packed since it was a Saturday evening, so I would highly recommend reservations. Even having a reservation, we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for our table. The tables are close together, but we were fortunate to get a table in the center of the room by the bar (these aren’t as close together). My only real negative comment is in regards to the noise level, which was almost painful. It was difficult to carry a conversation with my husband due to the noise. I can definitely see why this is such a popular restaurant and will return for the food.
Exceptional food and service, love this place!
Huge portions, solid food and great service. Haven’t been here in years but really glad we went for a casual family dinner. Just be prepared to share of have lots of leftovers.
Excellent food and service. The pork chops with hot peppers was outstanding.
We have dined here many times over the past several years, but our most recent experience was notably poor.
We had 7:15 dinner reservations on 11/2/19 but had to wait 20 more minutes to be seated at a table near the door and hostess desk. Heavy foot traffic and loud. Cold gusts from revolving door and heat blasting from overhead vent.
A piece of sausage was stuck to the Parmesan cheese dish. Our server replaced the dish after we pointed it out. I was served the wrong wine, but our server realized the error and replaced it before I drank from it.
While we were eating, two 10-year-olds came into the restaurant with milk crates full of candy. They walked up to our table and the table next to us trying to sell it.
We called over to the hostess counter and asked the girls there to get the kids out of the restaurant. The kids sensed they'd been outed and left but lingered on the sidewalk near the door. One of the hostesses followed them out and pointed away from the restaurant as she spoke to them.
Then the manager then came to the hostess counter. I expected an apology from him or the hostesses. We got neither.
So for $130 dinner bill: we had to wait for poor seating, found dirty serving ware, received an incorrect drink, and we were accosted by unaccompanied minors off the street selling candy for which we received no apology from management.
Waiter is incredible!!! I like having fun while dining and he was very funny and knowledgeable of the menu.
Kudos to him for representing Rosebud in such a positive manner!
Food is always good but service was so horrible it was impossible to enjoy - won’t go back
Poor wine selection. Food was not great. Honestly we enjoyed the bread basket more. Nothing about the menu is particularly inspired. Service was fine.
Great food with friendly staff and reasonable prices for the portions. The chicken Parmesan was delicious and enough for two meals easy.
We went for our 2 year anniversary. Delicious food, great service!
The Veal Piccata is excellent. I would recommend this to everyone. Rosebud is very family friendly.
It was a very busy night and we had to wait for our table even with a reservation. But all in all a great place.
We enjoyed a nice meal and visit prior to attending a performance at Wentz Hall. Nice to have such a classic place to dine close to a great venue. The special of the day was killer!!!! Thanks for the great service
Used to be better. Had an 8pm reservation for two on a Saturday night and we waited while other groups who arrived after us were sat. After 25 minutes we got our table. Drinks were slow, food was slow even the bread service didn't arrive promptly. Could have been an off night but it was just too underwhelming to spend this kind of money on.
Great menu/choices. Wonderful daily specials. Will def go again.
Wonderful food. Awesome waiter and staff. Just couldn’t hear over the din to talk across table. Miss the old space in Downtown Naperville!
Be prepared for a large portion of anything you'll order. Food is great, although more American Italian than just straight-up Italian. The service is efficient. Hostess was not the right person for that job. Not welcoming, outgoing or friendly.
Had to wait 20 minutes beyond reservation time for table. No bread ever brought to table. Server was pleasant though.
A group of us ladies enjoying an evening out celebrating a couple October birthdays. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves. Great decor and ambience and friendly staff. The appetizers were great, we especially enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms. Our entrees were delicious as well. Understanding it was a Saturday and you would expect it to be busy but we had reservations for several weeks yet waited for about 20 + mins. Normally, I would not be bothered too much but one of our ladies was using a cane and she stood for quite a long time. Even after we politely mentioned twice that standing that long was difficult for her. Even if staff would have provided her a chair that would have been a welcomed gesture while we waited.
Way too loud. Table for 2 way too small for even our plates. Feels like your sitting on top of the tables next to you. Not a place to have a conversation without talking in each other’s ears. Not a Romantic place. But very good food.
The food was great. The service was OK. The check in for our reservation was poor. The hostess was too busy with the call in orders than the customer in front of her.
Very nice place great food a bit pricey but sometimes it’s worth the cost. Host was a bit preoccupied and the server seemed to want us to order right after we sat down. It was lunchtime so not
Really crowded we were talking and relaxing fir a bit before we ordered not in a hurry. Love Rosebud innChicago.
I really try to find a positive about this long time Naperville restaurant. I gave it a try in their new location and I wish I didn’t. If you put me at a table next to the kitchen then don’t let our drink order, our appetizers, and our entrees sit there for 10 minutes while you chat with the staff and we see everything. I can’t think of a reason to go here with so many mediocre restaurants that are far superior to this. Just an overall bad experience. Service was the worst.
Fantastic service, but food was just mediocre. Paid WAY too much for a meal of this quality. However, our waiter was fantastic!
We always love coming to Rosebud. We were pleased with everything except for the fact that they removed the booths they used to have. We really missed them. The new configuration is not nearly as comfortable (small tables with legs that are intrusive) and not nearly as intimate. Wish they would bring them back! But otherwise, it was great as usual.
The service was great and so was the food. At first we said we had an open table reservation and they didn’t mark us so I had some extra emailing to clear that up. It was not too very busy and had plenty of spaces so was mildly bothered when a person sat another party right next to us. It was my anniversary and my daughters bday so just the 3 of us, then this party of like 6 or so. Just didn’t care to have them so close for the remainder of our meal. Otherwise server was attentive and did great explaining options and talking about specials . The meal was on the pricier side but was worth it based on the portions.
Our first visit to this Rosebud Restaurant was great. We had excellent service and the food was outstanding! Can't wait to visit again.
Placed in a small room in back of restaurant very loud. Had to shout to server & dining companions. Very disappointed. Had to ask for drink refill
We have been looking forward to going to Rosebud's since we moved here a year ago and decided to go to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was loud, but the atmosphere was very nice. The manhatten and merlot as well as the stuffed mushrooms were excellent. We ordered the eggplant parma and veal parm. The veal parm was very good and the portion was very good. The eggplant was bland, not offering much taste at all. The sides of pasta was also very bland. For $118 we were expecting more.
Was seated at 5pm on a Saturday. Lots of open tables, however, even with the few people that were there, the noise level was horrible. As the meal progressed, the noise level became unbearable. No one in the restaurant was being overly loud, it just appears that the acoustics in the restaurant are off. When the waiter can't even hear you speak, and you have to repeat multiple times it doesn't make for a very relaxing meal or night out with friends as you can't have a conversation with the person sitting right next to you.
We were a little disappointed in the Italian NY Strip special. The steak was a little tough. It came with roasted peppers and it seemed like pickled bell peppers. The meal would have been so much better if the peppers were roasted with a little garlic. My wife eggplant was very good.
Food was great. Service was great. The only problem was the ambient noise level. It was so loud in there that it was difficult to hold a conversation.
Great food, location and ambience. A special event made more special at Rosebud
Great food and great service!
Came here for Anniversary dinner with another couple before going to a play. Excellent food. Large portions and lots of leftovers. Excellent service.
Great salmon over sauteed spinach w/artichoke hearts & shrimp. Also great was the salmon over sauteed spinach w/diced tomatoes. Good Manhattan's along with woderful service. This is a must visit for Italian food, etc.
i was disappointed when I called to make reservations i mentioned it was for a 59 year anniversary celebration but they did not ever mention it when we were there
