Rosebud - Deerfield Ratings and Reviews
Another excellent dinner. Started with the stuffed mushrooms, then had the eggplant salads, baked ziti, and lasagna as entrees. Food and service were great as always. Finished with coconut cake and godiva mousse cake for dessert and had plenty of leftovers for another meal tomorrow. Love the place and will be back.
The waiter was totally untrained and could not answer simple questions about the menu. Therefore, mistakes were made in filling our order. We complained to the manager and he denied the lack of training and threw the waiter under the bus. The manager made an adjustment on our bill, but we resented his shifting the blame on his staff rather than realize the shortcoming of the system.
Was not one of our better experiences. Chicken picante was spongy in texture and we had to send it back to be cooked more well done. Fried calamari and vodka penne pasta pizza were excellent. Service was slow and non-attentive. It was expensive $77 total (w/tax & tip) for small pizza, calamari app, and chicken entrée (served a la carte with no sides). Ambiance is not good (was a former Bakers Square restaurant - dark, not comfortable seating). Good for neighborhood comfort food and take out on a whim, but not a good everyday value or special spot. I'll be back to try again, but may seek an alternative Italian restaurant.
Our waiter went above and beyond to see that our needs were met. He checked on us regularly and was able to answer all of our questions. It was comfortable to sit with my friend for a couple of hours for lunch. The combo specials suited us perfectly. This was the second time we met here and definitely not the last.
We were celebrating our anniversary and notified restaurant of this special occasion. It was not acknowledged until we mentioned it to the server. Service was good. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed in the food. We ordered a chopped salad, it lacked flavor and appeared to lack salt. We ordered the strip steak and it was bland and appeared to lack seasoning and salt. Had dessert, chocolate cake and cannoli cake, both pieces of cake were obscenely huge. We so very much wanted to enjoy the meal for this special occasion and were looking forward to visiting Rosebud.
I was totally underwhelmed! It's just a big room, not much ambience. (I guess if you're a big Rosebud fan you go for the food).
Started with Caprese Salad with mozzarella which was really quite good. (Should be, tomatoes are really in season). Big portion, should have split with my husband. (Took 1/2 home) Big, thick slices of tomatoes with thick slices of mozzarella and a drizzle of balsamic. (Had the leftovers tonight...yum) I had the mussels appetizer as my main course. HUGE portion. They were...... good.... nuff said!!! My husband had the eggplant and said it was "okay". The other gentleman in the group ordered "strip steak" but got "strip steak". I would have sent it back...he didn't. The 4th person had the ziti. No one really mentioned the meal when we finished and I think that says more than anything! Just saying.
Food was awesome. Biggest issue we had was conversation. We had a table for 2 and the closeness and noise level was such that we felt as though we were yelling in order to hear each other. Service was great, food was really good and large portions. We both took half of our entree home for the next day.
Dine here two to three times a year. This visit was nothing special, the spicy calamari was not spicy at all and the chopped salad was dry and life less. Needed a lot of extra dressing to make it edible. It will be awhile before we return to the over priced wine.
