A favourite with the townspeople, who use it variously as a watering-hole, The Rose & Crown is the place for a spot of lunch or a celebration dinner. Winning several national awards including being twice named in the Top Ten UK pubs in the last few years, The Rose & Crown also won Britain’s Best Brigade in 2017. We serve food all day, along with top-quality draught beers and have a carefully chosen wine list. We did not eat there in the end. We waited well over 45 minutes to have our food. Waitress very well presented and polite. Seating arrangement: we specifically booked not to be near the kitchen or loos-they had no idea of that request. Ended up in a table in very poor lighting. Manager waived the cost of the two drinks we had.

Hello, Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the experience you had. We are glad to hear that our waitress was attentive and polite. However, we understand that the wait time for your food was frustrating, we try to keep wait times to a minimum, although all of our dishes including roasts are cooked from fresh which does lead to slightly longer cooking times. I can see that this table your were sat on wasn't directly next to the bathrooms. Although we do try to honour all guests requests, sometimes it's not always possible especially during busier service such as Sunday lunch. We strive to make every guest's experience as enjoyable as possible, and apologise that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion.

Lovely situation and excellent and really helpful staff. Service great. Drinks prices high e.g. a dash of lime for £1.40 and a pint of Guinness £6.60. Food very average and expensive for what it was. The serving of the grilled cod was extremely small as were the servings of gammon, which, disappointingly, were also quite tough and didn't taste or look freshly cooked. The poached egg on the fishcake was overcooked (for both of us), although those served with the gammon were fine. Overall great atmosphere and staff but expensive drinks and food disappointing

Good food , excellent service would recommend to anyone . Shame that some people have to bring their dogs out but can’t stop them from barking all through lunch !!!
