Rosalina Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Rosalina's before. Since it is within walking distance of PPAC and Trinity Rep, it is a great location. The food and service are great. We do not feel we have to rush through dinner to be at the theater on time. We had steak and butternut squash ravioli along with tiramisu. I love the refill on wine comes in little bottles. Great night.
Where do I begin? From the moment I waked in, the hostess was so sweet & kind. I had requested a larger table for 2, which she accommodated, & we were right in front of the open kitchen. Our waiter was attentive & was quick to ask —as I was still waiting for my date — if I’d like an appetizer to start & I obliged Either he eggplant parmigiana, delicious! Main course was the Polenta Lasagna & homemade butternut squash pasta...incredible!
The ambiance is perfect & the staff is friendly & attentive. Never felt rushed & there was no hovering over the table. I recommend Rosalina for anyone who’s a fan of true to form Italian food. Be sure to plan ahead, as they will fill up quick, so a reservation is a Leah a good idea.
To all at Rosalina that made our dinner so wonderful, my Hays old to you...THANK YOU!
Food was delicious and very authentic Italian. Service was excellent. Perfect dinner before a basketball game. Valet parking made is very convenient as we were able to walk to the game. Decor was interesting as the pictures were all of owners family which made for interesting conversation!
Rosalina unfortunately feels like a restaurant that has lost it's focus. The dishes are less vibrant, feels like someone else is preparing the original recipes and with less authenticity: the eggplant app is now just ordinary eggplant parm not the saucy delishiousness of years past; the brussel sprouts salad just overcooked and greasy. More tables have been added in awkward spots so there is really the feel of "packing them in to maximize profit", and the staff doesn't read the reservation requests so when I got there ended up eating at the bar so as not to be right under the food retrieval area. The bar tender was nice and made nice drinks.
FABULOUS restaurant. The food is incredible. Within walking distance to the PPAC. Been to the restaurant a couple of times. The menu is not too large but there is a good selection. The pasta is to die for!! Highly recommend the restaurant. Make reservations because there is always a wait.
The food was excellent, as was the timing of the meal throughout. Our server was excellent. I always enjoy a visit to Rosalina.
The only thing I would say is that with winter coming, next time when making my reservation I would ask for a seat as far from the door as possible because the draft is noticeable. The server mentioned that they had ordered one of those alcove /wind shields to help with the entryway draft and when that is installed, it will definitely improve the experience on winter nights!
Overall a great dinner. Love that they use local ricotta cheese!
As out-of-townies, we made our selection of Rosalina's based on a quick survey of reviews from restaurants close to our hotel and window menu viewing, only to be so thoroughly entranced with the food, service and ambiance that we returned two nights later with two additional dining companions. The dishes are so perfectly styled for sharing that we all had an outstanding "tasting dinner".
Room was too dark to even read the menu, hard to see the food. Tables crowded together, barely enough room to squeeze to my seat. Extremely noisy, difficult to converse with dinner partners. Waiter neglected to bring cup of tea to one person.
Food was excellent.
Everyone raves about the eggplant. Our friend can't order anything else! Service is very attentive, and leftovers were kept refrigerated for us while we went to Trinity Rep!
There are really nice sides, notably the brussels sprouts. My vegetarian husband loved the cauliflower steak over pasta. I'm not a wine expert, but my reds have always been tasty here.
We arrived, with recent online reservation, and had to wait quite a bit before being seated.
We sat down at a fairly chipped up table with no tablecloth or placemats. Why restaurants expect diners to be okay with their utensils directly on the table is beyond me. I find it a bit disgusting. Go to a regular diner. They know it is and thus they give you a paper placemat.
Once we were waited on, we sat with the menu and wine list for a bit and finally ordered both at the same time to move things along a bit. The waiter was pleasant and friendly, but he sprayed a good bit of saliva all over my arm and the table when he spoke to us (the restaurant was VERY loud).
I'd say that the menu was fine. Not too few choices, not too many.
The food was good. We shared the eggplant lasagna for an appetizer. I had the pork chop (Sicilian style) and my wife had the scallops. They were both good. Our water was refilled but could have been attended more carefully. I don't recall whether or not we were asked if we wanted more wine.
Once we were finished eating we had to keep vigil trying to spot our waited who, even when he reappeared, was very difficult to flag down. We paid and left. Basically a "B" experience in a city full of "A" options.
Really enjoyed drinks and appetizers at the bar followed by dinner in the restaurant. Rosalina’s is small so make a reservation. They have free valet parking if needed. The egg plant Parmesan appetizer is excellent. We also enjoyed our entrées and the extra side vegetables that we ordered. Good food for a reasonable price. Recommended.
The food was excellent & the service was very good. However, it was THE noisiest place I have ever eaten (worse than Chuckie Chhese)! About half the restaurant is used as an unutilized bar. No one was in the bar at all ! While the tables in the dining area were 5 inches apart. I was sitting on the balconette side practically hip to hip with a woman I had never seen before & was not dining with !!!
I would recommend Rosalina only when the weather is conducive to outdoor dining or as an expensive take out meal.
The owners should do away with the bar & spread the tables out.
The open, high ceilings look hip, but ruin the acoustics & then they pack you in like a sardine.....
Visiting Providence for a business conference. Scoped out Rosalina online before arriving.
Short walking distance from major hotels. In the theater district.
Intimate, family owned Italian Restaurant. Our waiter Will, was great.
We had two homemade pasta dishes that were great. Bolagnese was delicious.
Highly recommend this great little restaurant.
The food was fine but not great. The entrees were good, but the vegetable side dishes were not. Broccoli rabe had something on it that tasted like bourbon - inedible! And the Brussels sprouts were charred and dry and not particularly flavorful. Service was good. The restaurant was noisy/lively, yet we didn't have any trouble hearing each other.
This is my 2nd visit & sadly not a pleasant one. The noise level was really over the top. It made for an uncomfortable lack of conversation. We just got tired of yelling instead of talking.
The waitress spilled a tray of drinks on my daughter & while the waitress was very gracious & offered my husband a free drink & gave us dessert, it was just uncomfortable.
There are many great restaurants & bistros down city & we will probably look for some place else for dinner the next time we are there.
