Four of us had the most enjoyable dining experience at Rosalie. We selected from among the menu choices dishes that we could share among us. Arancini, manicotti, pizza with mushrooms and onions, mama's meatballs, assortment of cookies and none was disappointing. Our service was exceptionally attentive. The ambiance delightful and the noise a bit less than expected. All in all it was a great time. Wine service professional as well. We'd retorno a Rosalie in an instant.
The food was delicious. Its homemade so its going to take awhile to get it but then its worth it. The pizza was amazing. Calamari was great. There is a sourdough bread loaf (I couldn't hear what it was called) that was so good. I wanted to eat it. I should have bought one to go. That good! I passed a waiter with a nice large beautiful salad entering the restaurant and thought I'm going to get that. Then mine came and I was disappointed because it was so small. They only have one size so it wasn't that, it was just very small. We had three at our table and none were consistent in size. Don't add chicken either... we couldn't tell if it were chicken or pork and it was not the best tasting. Would have done better asking for more anchovies. Other than the chicken and the size it really was delicious. We came during the week at lunch time and the noise level was extremely high. There were six of us and we could not hear each other at all. The acquisitions are bad. With all that, absolutely, I would come back, after or before a busy time and I would again have pizza and salad (no chicken).
Dinner is great. I enjoyed lunch as well, but prefer it as a dinner spot because of the heavier average meal offered at lunch.
Consistently good food and service.
Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Food is excellent.
The food was excellent but the service needed improvement.
Our service was amazing and so was the food! Coming from hard to please and a bit picky, i will be visiting again very soon to try the pizza. Our server, Adrian was on point and such an attentive waiter. Love, love, love, walking by the glass to see the pizza creations in action. A definite must try.
Three of us went to Rosalie for a birthday celebration and enjoyed it very much. This was the first time any of us had been there and thought the renovation of the hotel and the design of the restaurant were both very well done. We especially liked the way the restaurant seemed to snake around the large pizza oven making the seating areas more intimate.
We opted to eat family style, sharing all of the dishes. We started with the calamari and the Italian salad. The salad was OK, but the calamari was excellent...coming close to my favorite calamari dish in town at Little Pappas. It was crisp with a nice mix of rings and small squid with tentacles.
Next we split the margarita pizza. This is one of the better pizzas in town with a crisp crust topped with good sauce and cheese. The basil was fresh and flavorful, but the pizza would be improved if they doubled the amount of basil provided.
My favorite dish was the blue crab ravioli which was sensational! All three of us loved it. The crab was plentiful and the flavors really complimented it.
The surprise dish of the night was the Thursday night special, an Italian stew with a rich meaty sauce...good enough to make us want to plan our next outing to Rosalie on a Thursday and order it again.
The evening was relaxed and service was good. We hope to go again soon to try more of their options.
Our service was fabulous and the spaghetti and meatballs were just like homemade. We will return.
Everything was great except the tuna. It was very fishy. The drinks, starters and the pasta were fabulous!!! Service was excellent!
Food was amazing. Atmosphere is fun and different. We will be back.
We loved everything about it! Will be back soon!
Service was slow. We got our appetizers before our cocktails and wine. The food did not resemble anything Chris Cosentino would want to serve at any other of his establishments. Everything was under seasoned. The focaccia was tough instead of pillowy as you would get in Italy nor was it thin and crunchy like at Coltivare.
I have eaten lunch here twice. It is delightful. Great food for very good value. Service is also very good. Such a needed addition to this part of downtown.
Excellent food and service!
Love this concept, my server was a adorable peach! I am a tough judge of bolognese, this was flavorful but a tad chunky...a suggestion to refine the scale perhaps but oh so good! Can you make it bigger? You could get $19 for it even without an extra ounce.
Had the choco gelatto with evoo nice, perhaps reduce sea salt just a bit, otherwise great...I NEVER have dessert so that says a lot.
Arancini not on my list usually but tasty, a little gooey but (yeah) I ate them all!!! I’ll be back for sure.
We expected better quality food. It was ok but in our opinion must dishes were salty. We had 4 meals. One of the them was the hanger steak and that was our favorite. The steak wasn’t salty, it was cooked perfect and had good taste. We received complementary desserts and those were good specially the tiramisu.
This is my Third time and the slow and untrained service is simply unacceptable and would be an embarrassment for a client lunch. Once again kitchen and waiter were both slow and the waiter got half of our orders wrong plus forgot to put in part of our order. They won’t let us do 20 for 20 unless all parties chose to do so - Not sure why as we all ended up ordering a salad and entree anyway and the 20 for 20 items were all regular menu items. Last again management should have came by and apologized or something ?!
This was my second time here. First time was for my birthday dinner about 6 weeks ago, this time met some friends for lunch. I really wanted the "Local Vegetable Fritto Misto," but the menu has changed and this dish is not available anymore, although it is still on the website. I was going to order the 20 in 20 with Rigatoni, but again the menu has changed and the only pasta I could get was Ravioli. Two disappointments in one meal is not good. I had looked up the menu before I went there so my heart was set on getting those two items. I really wish they would've update it on the website if they decide to change it. I ended up ordering the Rosalie Burger, which was very good! So no other complaints, but please update the menu on your website. Thank you!
On my first visit I thought the calamari was the best I had ever eaten. I returned for the calamari, but found that they had changed the recipe and this time it was over cooked and mixed with other unnecessary ingredients. I will now be returning.
Nice place, the on line menu was not accurate as we went there based on that menu. Took 2.5 hours to get in and out. Lucky we were not pressed for time.
The food was amazing. The service was slow after our salads were served. We waited approximately 15-20 minutes after we were done with our salads before we received our main courses which we shared family style. ( pizza, blue crab manicotti, shrimp diablo, and spaghetti and meatballs) We had to ask for fresh plates between trying saucy dishes, which I would have appreciated if the server anticipated given we were sharing plates. Nonetheless, the food was phenomenal.
Kitchen was very slow. Pasta dish was cold and had to be remade.(offered readily)
Noise level at times too loud to easily converse at our table.
The restaurant is located inside the C. Baldwin Hilton hotel. Whoever designed this restaurant did a great job. The mid-century modern design transports you to grandmother's house. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. I expected it to be more expensive being in a hotel. We tried the Branzino, which was ouststanding. The perfect amount of seasoning, crispy skin, and layered on a bed of delicious mushrooms and wilted arugala. Delicious. The house salad was a welcome surprise hit at our table, along with the strazopretti and arancini. They have rainbow cookies! You can never find those in Houston! My wife is from NYC and has her family bring them whenever they visit. Now we have a spot to get them in town! The wine list is really affordable and has a wide selection. They validate your valet ticket so parking was not a problem at all. We will definitely be back!
This restaurant has great potential. Some good menu ideas and nice space. Management/ownership seems to care and wants their guests to be happy. But, on a recent Saturday night, the food preparation was way too slow and many people were upset, including me. Service also needs to improve. As an Italian restaurant in an American city, I also think they need to re-think some menu practices/portions. I hope they get there.
Very cute place. Staff was friendly and the food was delicious!
I was excited to come here for a second time, after a stellar meal here last week. However, the slooowwww service and subpar food this time was a disappointment. We ordered two 20 by 20 plus an appetizer and cauliflower side. It was a good 45 minutes before we got our entrees and that was because I started asking the staff to hurry and bring everything out.
The house salad was a bit over salted. The ravioli was sitting in a pool of butter and the staff never came by to offer parmesan as they did last time. The cauliflower was missing the amazing char from last time and sat limp, tasted almost microwaved and overly salted as well.
Last, the assistant manager overheard my frustration as I literally asked for our food at least 3x, but no one bothered coming by to apologize. Willing to give them one more try but please get the service going. 20 to 20 should not be 20 to 60.
Server was very nice, service extremely slow. Food was not to par considering top chef inspired foods. Friendly staff. Super cute atmosphere.
Rosalie was an amazing experience! The staff, particularly Wendy, was very informative and made great suggestions which we ordered. The meatballs are a must and the pizza was quickly devoured. The calamari and arancini were also excellent as was the ravioli. A Persephone was a great way to wash it all down which was Wendy’s suggestion. The manager greeted us then another checked on us after the food was delivered. I will definitely be back...can’t beat friendly service and the best Italian in Houston!
Excellent food from small menu. 60’s decor is trying too hard to be cool.
Hosted dinner here and was quite impressed with our entire experience from our arrival through our departure.
The space is absolutely gorgeous! The lighting is brilliant, decor is tasteful and the details of design seems endless!
Service starts with a warm welcome and attentively executed. We were lucky to have Shawn at our table. He was professional and knowledgeable when it came to walking us through various menu items.
Our food was divine. We started with the calamari, then the buratta, then the focaccia all followed by the varied entree options. The branzino was delicious however, it lacks a sauce as it is now. The blue crab manicotti was cooked to perfection; it had a generous amount of crab and was a flavor bomb. Oh so delicious!
My favorite drinks of the night had to be the Hugo Spritz (so refreshing!) and the Watermelon Paloma!
We had a grand time and surely will be back again.
Fabulous food, service and atmosphere! No complaints at all. Will return!
Rosalie was cute and unpretentious. We enjoyed our meal caesar salad, prosciutto pizza and shells with a lovely bechamel and caviar. Very nice. Service needs help. They obviously don't train the staff and although there were lots of wait staff out waiter was sol. The timing of our food and wine was terrible. It took forever to get 2 tastes of wine to determine what would go with our meal. One of the managers finally brought it. We got the wine and then the food came all at once. We sent the pizza back and when they bought it out again it was cold. We did tell them we were attending a performance and so needed our meal to be expedited but we also told the waiter not to bring everything at once. He wasn't paying attention.
They did give us a complimentary tiramisu dessert but by that time we had to rush out to get to our show. The food is good and it was busy on a Friday night. We may come back and try some of the other offerings.
Really good cocktails. Had the salumi board and would highly recommend along with the the pork chop. And boy oh boy that tiramisu. Service was swift and friendly, with amazing attention to detail.
Food was tasty. This review pertains to the hotel C. Baldwin where Rosalie is located. We chose Rosalie as we had show tickets that night at Hobby Center. We called 2 days in advance to reconfirm that the hotel shuttle could take us to the show. That night, no one had any idea what we were talking about. Hopefully the growing pains of the new hotel will soon be resolved.
We loved everything, the atmosphere and decorations were great! Can't wait to try out the patio.
Alfred was the absolute best!
We had a great time dining at Rosalie. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious, and the decor was fantastic and fun. Definitely a great spot for some good Italian food and a great atmosphere.
Prices very reasonable.
Food..all atractively presented.
Cocktails were well made.
Appetizers all Tasty.
Local Veg Frito Misto was EXCELENT!
Arancini was EXCELLENT
Entrees are where we really rather disappointed..
Eggpant Parm while a lovely presention...was really bland.
Rigatoni was bland with very little meat.
Blue Crab Manicotti was SO Flavorful that it was almost too much to eat on it's own.
Desserts were good but not amazing.
We will go back...not necessarily quickly...and try the Pizzas...they looked really good!
We REALLY WANT to like this place....just want LOTS MORE Flavor in the sauces.
What a wonderful surprise inside the new C. Baldwin Hotel. the hotel and restaurant itself had the coolest design/decor. The food was delicious, too!
