Great for a family dinner or celebrations really good drinks and the food is awesome.
Excellent guacamole. Enchiladas were good. I love rice and beans and they were both good. Service was excellent!!!
We had chicken that made us sick all the next day and night #nevercomingback went to dinner w my husband and sister in town from la and we all got sick! That is not a coincidence that is an error in food preparation
Guacamole excellent, cod was very good, carnitas dry. Normally service is good to very good, but this time we waited 20 minutes for a cup of tea because its made by the barista - but why? When we told them we just wanted our check because we had to go that took forever because they had to remove the $4.00 tea charge from the check and the manager had to do that and she was running around. It’s amazing they can make the guacamole in a quarter of the time it takes them to fill up a cup with hot water and throw a tea bag in it.
The meal and the service were fantastic. Unfortunately, having never been to this particular Rosa Mexicano, I didn’t realize it’s yuppie-screamer heaven. The five of us could hardly hear each other speak, even at TOP VOLUME.
Perfect place for large groups to celebrate special occasions everyone enjoyed it and the staff was great accommodating special menu requests.
Waiter put in both orders wrong and came around once every half hour and had to refill drinks or bring cutlery. Meals sat for 5 minutes before we were even able to eat them.
We love this place. The food is delicious, truly flavorful and served hot. We often come here early on a Saturday night so it has more quiet and space is available. They make the guacamole at the table which is fun and also amazingly fresh and exactly to your specifications. This is a regular place for us
Rosa Mexicano is usually my go to place to eat with family and friends. I felt like it was starting to go downhill but I wanted to keep giving it a chance. This last visit was super disappointing though. We were next to the server station and still barely got checked on, my shrimp quesadilla had barely any shrimp on it (like on piece only had half a shrimp on it), the guacamole wasn’t made at the table and kind of just thrown at us, and the place wasn’t even busy. I’m not sure what’s going on with this place, but it makes me sad. :/
We were seated promptly. The food was delicious but the service was poor. We had two waiters which made it confusing. The second waiter was pushy and rude. Once we ordered and received our food, he never came back. We had to flag him down for service. We had to give another waiter our check to pay. He was to split the bill on two credit cards, he splits the bill on one credit card. Which did not make sense, why charge twice on the same card? We are still wait for the credit for one. As they already billed the other card.
I went to Rosa Mexicano to celebrate my birthday. As always we had a delicious meal. The guacamole is always perfectly prepared (we always eat too much) And no matter what you get, get a side order of platanos. I am never disappointed and I always save a few for the next day.
Very accommodating, I had to change my reservation time once and the amount of people twice and they were able to help me and the service was great.
Always a great experience with the wait staff and the food is very good!
Quality of food and presentation has def gone down in this location. There were 6 of us and all of of food looked as if it sat under the warming lights way too long in the kitchen. A few of us ordered the fajita style dish and the steak portion was dry and chewy. Nothing about anyone’s plates looked as if it was just plated by the cooks. The tortillas were cold and chewy. Wasn’t sure who our server was since every time we needed something or received something it was a different person. Going to RM used to be a treat and you always know you’re getting great food for the price you’re spending, no matter the location. This location however needs a reboot. We exited around 8pm on a Saturday night and there were many empty tables, which now I realize why.
Food was dry and not hot. Must’ve sat a while before serving. Very long wait to get check and wouldn’t give individual check! Very annoying and kind of ruins a good time among friends out for a relaxing evening
Great food and very nice staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We had an open table reservation for two and when we walked in the restaurant was largely empty. Despite that, my friend and I were seated just off the entry by a waiters station. We were grudgingly moved when we asked nicely to get out of the walkway. We were then seated at a much better table, but the food was just okay, and by the time that we were asked if we wanted another drink we were finished. It was just ok. Kind of disappointing, because Rosa Mexicano has been kind of a standby for me. there are so many choices that I probably won’t be back.
Wonder ambiance, great food, spectacular service!
The margheritas had little or no alcohol. We told the waiter at the end of the meal. The manager came over snd took the drinks off the bill. Excellent service but their drinks are not worth it. Food was good though.
I had reservations for 8:15pm arrived five minutes early and was informed that the tables we being cleaned and that we could set at the bar while we wait to be seated. We opted to not go to the bar and wait by the door way. While we waited to saw they seemed to be greatly understaffed. Two hostess and and what appeared to be a manager on the floor bussing and cleaning tables during this time. We were finally seated 8:50 pm and our order was taken by a server who was extremely overwhelmed fifteen minutes later. Our drinks and apps were delivered promptly and were tasty. Our entrees were ok my meal was not worth the price from both a taste factor and a price point however, my spouse enjoyed his meal and was satisfied. I recall loving this place years ago with friends but this time around was a bit underwhelming.
Great experience overall. Busy restaurant! I would recommend this place. I can see myself going back in the future.
Sunday brunch - excellent menu choices, good portions, beautifully presented.
Terrific food, excellent service and very pleasant atmosphere. Always a treat for our family. And love the pomegranate margaritas!
Best guacamole EVER!
Love love love Rosa, have not been there in a few years and the food is still excellent.
SO many choices for a gluten-free diner, it is much appreciated.
Service was a BIT slow and disconnected, not always clear who our server was.
Room noise a bit much for a place that size, but not too bad.
Get the guac. LOVE the guac.
Got together for graduation celebration and made reservation on Open Table. We arrived an hour early and were told they could get us in quicker than our reservation. An hour and a half later, they kept giving tables away to other people who had reservations later than us. Whenever we would ask, hostess was rude and aloof. This is generally one of our favorite places to eat at in NYC, but service was absolutely terrible.
First time dining at Rosa Mexicano and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The pork shank is delicious. Love the crispy outside
Excellent as always!
The server did not even ask if we wanted dessert. Just dropped the check.
Great food in an upbeat environment. I highly recommend.
Though the lunch special is a good deal on paper, I was disappointed with their chicken enchilada main course selection from it. The chorizo salad appetizer was satisfying.
This was our first time to The Union Square location, we usually go to the Lincoln Center location...union Square has a more casual vibe which I really liked. The food and margaritas were excellent and the service was outstanding. We will definitely be choosing this location more often.
Great brunch. Pomegranate Margarita, Corn Bread and Guacamole. Can’t beat it.
I will never come here again or recommend this restaurant to anyone. Service was absolutely terrible, inattentive and painfully slow. My sister, who was there celebrating Mother’s Day with her infant son, never even received her entree (she is vegan and the zucchini noodle entree, which did not mention cheese in the description and was confirmed “vegan” by our server, ended up with globs of cheese in it) - so, we waited for her dish to be re-fired but after all of the plates were cleared and 45 minutes went by, the food never arrived and we were forced to leave. The table behind us ended up walking out after not being served any food for over 2 hours. “The kitchen is really backed up” is not a valid excuse for an NYC restaurant on a weekend. The Manager discounted us an overpriced guacamole, but never came to the table to apologize. Honestly, this was one of the worst eating experiences I have ever had in New York City.
We enjoyed our Sunday Mother's Day brunch at this restaurant. The wait staff was attentive without being overbearing, although the restaurant was packed for the "holiday". I liked that they did not have a special-only menu, and that we could order off the regular menu. The food was excellent, and the restaurant's decor is attractive. They don't open until 1130 AM, and as a result, there was a long line waiting to check in at 1130, and unless you were pushy (and we were), they made people wait until exactly 1130 before they started seating. I thought that was a little ridiculous, especially since it was rather cold and rainy, so everyone had to crowd into the vestibule. Other than that, it was a nice meal, although I'm not sure I'd go back
The decor is nice and upbeat. The service was subpar and the food was okay. The staff was very quick as they spilled water and as they cleaned the table spilled leftovers on the table. Never was there a I am sorry. Will not return to this place.
I'd suggest the uptown one at Lincoln Center...but this one leaves a lot to be desired.
