About Rosa Mexicano - Union Square
Just blocks away from Manhattan’s lively Union Square, our third New York location provides a warm and vibrant setting for our award-winning authentic Mexican cuisine. Designed by David Rockwell, the restaurant features architectural accents inspired by the late, famed Mexican architect, Luis Barragan. The internally illuminated electric-blue tiled water wall features cliff diver figurines and candles among the cascading water to separate the bar from the main dining room. Warm terracotta and yellow colors with hot pink accents are featured throughout the restaurant as well as traditional, one-of-a-kind Mexican crafts, fabrics and artwork. This combination creates the perfect backdrop for the festive atmosphere and innovative Mexican cuisine of Rosa Mexicano.

Rosa Mexicano - Union Square Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Rosa's many mnay times. However this time the food was simply horrible. While the guacamole and margaritas were excellent as usual, everything else we ate was terrible. THe fish tacos were leaden, the tortilla soup was tasteless, the cesear salad was a a rip-off of a little lettuce and fixings and more plate than greenery.
Low grade Mexican food in a fun vibrant setting. I really did not enjoy the food and the service was not that great either. Other Rosa's I've visited had much better food (Washington DC and VA) so no plans to come back. There is much much better food to have in NYC.
When this place first opened, the food was flavorful with a kick. The other night, the steak in the Arrachera dish needed more seasoning and lacked flavor, and the fish in the Pescado Primavera barely had any gazpacho on it.
Although the ambience is nice, we sat in the back of the restaurant and there must’ve been poor ventilation because our clothes ended up smelling smoky.
An overpriced high-end Taco Bell for the B&T crowd and tourists. Thought this could still be a decent place for locals too. Not.
Our family has enjoyed eating at all the Rosa Mexicanos in NYC since the year 2000. We have returned to the various locations time and again for family gatherings, to entertain out of town guests, and ordering online for delivery from the Rosa at Lincoln Square... My husband and I made a rez to go to the Rosa on E 18 this evening for a dinner out. We ordered the cheese enchiladas and shrimp quesadillas. The food was cold when it came out and there wasnt any care in the prep of it. I wondered if the plates had been prepared ahead of time and delivered to our table as part of an assembly line of plates that had already been assembled, ready and waiting. A Very disappointing meal that was cold and had no flavor. We wont be back any time soon.
Restaurant is large and great atmosphere. Went on a Wednesday night and the place had a crowd during the dinner. If you love Mexican food, this is a great place. Unfortunately it's not mine. Had ceviche (starter) , fish (entree) and churros (dessert). The ceviche had a good size and quantity. The fish entree was a little tough (was a cod fish) . Only loved the Churros with the chocolate sauce. It comes with chocolate and raspberry sauces. Raspberry was a bit too tart. They did have a $45 prix fixe menu for the day of the dead which my companions opted for.
Really good food and drinks, excellent and super friendly service (as soon as we were greeted by the hostess). We were a somewhat boisterous party of 5 and our server Joaquin couldn't have been nicer and understanding of our fun mood. Even the gentleman who prepared our guacamole was friendly and fun. We had a great time.
