About Rosa Mexicano - Union Square
Just blocks away from Manhattan’s lively Union Square, our third New York location provides a warm and vibrant setting for our award-winning authentic Mexican cuisine. Designed by David Rockwell, the restaurant features architectural accents inspired by the late, famed Mexican architect, Luis Barragan. The internally illuminated electric-blue tiled water wall features cliff diver figurines and candles among the cascading water to separate the bar from the main dining room. Warm terracotta and yellow colors with hot pink accents are featured throughout the restaurant as well as traditional, one-of-a-kind Mexican crafts, fabrics and artwork. This combination creates the perfect backdrop for the festive atmosphere and innovative Mexican cuisine of Rosa Mexicano.

Rosa Mexicano - Union Square Ratings and Reviews
We had a great birthday meal here. It's a great change of pace to be in such a large and spacious restaurant in NYC. Wait staff was super friendly and quick. Drinks were great. Guac is made in front of you and very delicious. They have some interesting dishes too, not just tacos and burrito's. Would definitely suggest this place for a large group meal. If you are just 2, ask to be seated in the front room.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Rosa Mexicano is our go-to restaurant in the Union Square neighborhood. It never disappoints, from its cordial service, creative dishes, delicious food, and--if you come for a late lunch, you'll have a couple of hours during which the restaurant is uncrowded, and you can have quiet conversation at a table in the corner. Try to find that anywhere else!
Food is delicious as always. This location is more spacious than the other locations. The server was outstanding, attentive and quick. For Valentine's day they had a special menu and we ordered the Mar y Tierra. The chips and guacamole is always a great starter. They refill the chips if you need.
It was good but we used to love Rosa more a while back! They have changed the vegetarian options. We used to leave the Enchilada's Rancheras but they don't taste as good anymore.
Also, we got a double guacamole for our group of 4 and although it tasted amazing, it was $30 which I find to be too much for a guacamole!
The experience was a bit mixed. The food was wonderful, as I've come to expect from Rosa Mexicano. Our waiter was also very personable and friendly. We just found that there were gaps in service. I had to go out of my way and try to flag down our waiter to get the check for instance. The busing was good... I really think it was just a disconnect with the waiter.
I would definitely still recommend, and wouldn't be surprised if others say that was not their experience. I am entirely ready to go back.
Came here for restaurant week. Reservation was for 6PM so the place was semi-crowded. The hostess(es) were extremely friendly and we were seated right away. I love the ambiance of this restaurant. I was here with a friend for restaurant week and was looking for good authentic Mexican food - which his what we got. The food was great; no complaints (they made it to our liking (leaving the toppings on the side for us to put on our food). Our waiter was fantastic. What I found so refreshing was that even though the restaurant did get crowded, I never felt rushed and they didn't bring out the entrees before we even finished our appetizers; too many restaurants do this. I will definitely be coming back here to try other meals from their menu.
We all had a lovely experience. My dish was incredibly spicy especially the peppers. Little disappointed in the salsa. Lacked flavor and not chunky. Chips could have been warmer and guacamole was good but not spicy enough for medium. They did provide extra jalapeños. All in all excellent
Good, fresh food, tasty but not too greasy. Overall a good Mexican option, and the guacamole is as good as I expected. The prices are high but competitive for the quality, and the ambience is nice. Only to minor downsides: the noise level is super high (as in many other Manhattan places) and the service is kind of rushing you out for the next table. Definitely a good Mexican option!
