This restaurant was closed despite our booking and requests to confirm we were still planning g to keep the reservation. Very unimpressed
Turns out it was closed, but they still took reservations.
Food was cold overpriced and service was slow. Our reservation was for 915 pm on a Saturday night we were rushed to finish our dinner and they actually began to turn off the lights prompting us to rush and finish. This restaurant used to be one of my favorites but this was an incredibly poor showing.
It was my birthday! I loved it
Drinks were overpriced and portions were small. Service was rude and inattentive
Everything was amazing, but the service was poor.
Quite a disappointing meal overall. All food and drinks came out very slow and everyone’s meal was cold. We Repeatedly asked for the kids meals first but it took over an hour and came out with all the food that was ice cold. We would have sent it back but we were starving. The Fish special had tons of bones and a sauce that was served on the bottom of the plate and on top of the fish was a green salad with dressing on top of the fish (odd). Veggie enchiladas had raw spinach chopped up in the center was not sautéed it all and again freezing cold . Fish in the banana leaf was over cooked and rubbery and cold. Very disappointed will not be going back.
Very, very slow service. It took a full hour to get our first drink. We were very disappointed. The food was okay, but not great, especially for the price. Our friend had gone to another location in the past and was very disappointed with this location.
Great food as always, but service was terrible - it took 20 mins on average for each drink refill during bottomless brunch and our server was clearly overwhelmed
The seat we had was very close to the door and check in area. It was cold and did not like people over my food. Overall I love the place, my family and I go at least 6 times a year
We have eaten at this restaurant many times and maybe they were having an off night. We had a reservation and were seated by the door. Asked for medium guacamole and it was so spicy that it was almost inedible. My daughter order the steak Casada and it was inedible - not a good sign when you ask for a steak knife and it still can’t cut the meat. Ordered dessert think you can’t screw that up and the churros were ice cold which made them very hard to eat.
The restaurant is always loud so we are used to that - but there were so many people and the front desk was not doing a good job of having people either wait in the bar or in the covered entrance way and people were spilling into the dining area. A group of men stood in front of our table talking at the top of their lungs and one began leaning with his butt on our table. So many options in NYC that it is going to be a while until I feel like spending that much money for such as terrible experience.
I would recommend it but alert them that its very noisy. If the lowered the music just a little it would be better.
The service was outstanding for such a big and busy place.
Went for my birthday dinner with a group of nine—would definitely recommend! Great for big groups, and the ambiance/high ceilings/general largeness of the space is pretty hard to find in nyc. Food is overpriced, but for the location it’s to be expected, and it’s great quality. Only con was that it was hard to flag down our waiter a few times, but nothing too bad/he was still very friendly and personable.
Best guacamole and great service.
Surprised by the generous size of the entrees. Very nice. Guacamole is a classic here and very well executed with lots of chips.
Enjoyed the restaurant but the large pitcher of sangria was mostly ice and at $45, overpriced.
Host tried to seat us at very back of dining room, though there was plenty of space elsewhere. We requested medium spicy guacamole; it was mild. Steak tacos okay, not great. Ditto with enchiladas.
Fun place. Very good food - creative Mexican dishes.
The food was excellent. Just one minor dislike. We were not allowed to buy drinks at the table at the happy hour price. If you have happy hour it should be extended to all customers not just the ones at the bar.
I haven't been to the restaurant since last summer, it seems that they have a new chef. The menu has changed and the food was very dry to taste. I loved this place but the food was just not pleasing.
Our server was great. Drinks and starters were good, and food was fair.
