Rosa Mexicano - Union Square
Since 1984, we have used our founder, Josefina Howard's original recipe. Served with fresh vegetables
Chips & Salsa
Crispy corn tortilla chips with zesty salsa norteña
Rosa Chopped Salad
Chicken, chorizo, avocado, tomatoes, crispy tortilla strips, pickled red onion and greens. Tossed in creamy avocado dressing
Great food and extra friendly service.
Good food, good service, good place to meet friends for dinner
Had a great time. Our waiter was very friendly and accomodating.
Pork belly in sandwich was overcooked. The Huarache with carne was bland and you were very stingy with the amount of bland meat.
Chips and guac were good. As were the margaritas.
You all need help with food flavor/quality/portions.
This is one of my favorite restaurant in NY and as always I had a wonderful time; food and service was great will definitely be back soon 😃
Just awful service from the hostess to the waitstaff. That say in at a table that was hidden in the back so we were completely forgotten about. The food was cold. The drinks were off and I was just overly underwhelmed with my experience.
Nice ambiance and I’m sure they get it right sometimes. Worth a shot, but my experience was not good.
Had to wait 40 minutes for the table with a reservation
Fantastic evening, as usual. Incredible margaritas and consistently great food. Always a pleasure!
Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Reasonably priced for NYC.
Loved the food and the experience. The wait staff was pleasant, helpful and appropriately solicitous.
Fantastic ambience! Very nice and efficient wait staff! Lots of flavor, will definitely try to remember this spot next time I’m in NY!
Just wasn’t my cup of tea, for this type of Mexican food. A little to spicy for me. Drinks tasted (Margaritas, Gin and tonic) weird).
Always reliable place to go. Good food at a reasonable price in nice atmosphere with good service. What’s not to like?!?
Amazing server, Hector. Great place for a business lunch.
I have not been to Rosa's in a long time and I was reminded of the amazing food and great food. I cant wait to go back.
Service was excellent, so was the food and the ambiance. Look forward to visiting in the future.
The restaurant was not too busy ok imo but had to wait 20 mins to be seated; not sure what's the point of reservation if we had to wait so long. After being seated the server didn't show up for another 10-15 mins. The portion sizes have diminished as compared to my last visit few years ago. Guac used to be made fresh by the table side. Not anymore. Good was decent taste wise also liked the guac dessert.
All in all we spent 1:45hr inside the restaurant
Meal was very forgettable. The guac seemed more like roughly smashed clumps of avocado rather than mashed in to create what is usually their amazing guacamole — also not spicy despite requesting spicy, and took at least 15 mins to come out after receiving the rest of our appetizers. The tampiqueña is usually solid but the entire meal needed some salt. Would recommend heading to the Lincoln Center location instead for a better overall experience.
Awesome! Delicious food as always
I thought the food ordered was good, but nothing to rave about. Service was good.
We sat outside and had a wonderful meal. It was fun watching the activity at the fire house across the street. Food was amazing. Service was a little slow at first but we just arrived at a busy time as they were on the ball from middle to end of the meal. Would return anytime.
The quality of the food was atrocious. Especially the dishes with beef in it. We pointed this out to our server as well as to the manager. Lately, we have seen the quality of the food to deteriorate quite significantly.
Delicious food as always and Joane the server as always was wonderful
This is the second Rosa Mexicano location I've tried and I thought the 2nd Avenue location was overall much better in terms of the food/drinks. I was slightly disappointed in the Union Square location as I expected to be just as good as the 2nd Ave location. O
Food was v good however we were stuck in the cavernous back room which just doesn’t have the same ambience as the main/front room. That room is like a dining room in a 3-star hotel.
And we looked good - and had a reservation and the place wes hardly full when we arrived - but banished to the back nonetheless.
Not white as good at he UWS Tosa but go back - only if we’d be seated in the front or at the bar.
Best enchiladas in NYC!
Trusty Mexican food place, with big space and decent vibe, but nothing special. (AC went out, which maybe also made our experience not that great this time around.)
Hot outside and barely any air conditioning inside.
The enchilada suiza used to be creamy and tangy. Now it just tastes of citrus.
Wall water fountain not working.
Guac was over processed almost store like
Can’t get the slushie drinks without alcohol therefore no mock tail margaritas
Our guests said the food (meat and fish) was dry
Great meal and a wonderful server. Just a little warm. I think you must have been having problems with it cooling.
Oh how I missed those pomegranate margaritas!!! The gluten free options were a bonus as well. Salmon Poblano was delicious!!! The fresh guacamole was great but they can skip the celery, carrot and pepper strips/sticks they added to it. Overall great experience!!!
Purell at the front desk and the waiter offered us some as well..
The appetizers were the best part… downhill from there. Carne Asada couldn’t even be cut it was so tough. Nachos were unappetizing..,
Being back in Rosa Mexicano after its having been closed for quite a while is such a pleasure. The ceviches are fantastic, I recommend ordering any ceviche on the menu. Also the octopus and pork belly tacos were amazing. It's easy to make meals using only the small plates and appetizers and have a fantastic time. The only problem with the appetizers is they don't come with rice and beans and the beans are wonderful, so instead of ordering all the tacos on the appetizer menu, get one order as an entree and you'll get rice and beans with it. This restaurant is so much better than like Dos Caminos. I'm so happy it's open again. If you don't like noise you might want to go at an off hour because this place can get noisy.
It was my friend’s birthday and Joanne the server as always was great.
Went here on a Thursday evening with three others. The mango and blood orange margaritas were great. The mild guacamole was bland and did not contain a hint of spice. The side of rice and beans serviced with the tacos came out warm and was cold within 5 mins. Skip the tampiquena de carne asada. The steak was good but rest of it was less than mediocre. We finished with the tres leches cake which was kinda dry and the flan which was...flan. Overall they have good margaritas so I'm sure I'll be back again but may just stick with tacos. One person has the torta de salmon and enjoyed it so there's that
Excellent. Sat outside. Good was great. Wasn’t rushed from table. Great service
The food was excellent. It was my first time having the pescado (cod with all the trimmings) and it was so good. The guacamole and white sangria added to the lunch. The service was excellent.
I loved the food here and the atmosphere. It was a nice afternoon out.
It was our waiters first day solo, he was amazing, very knowledgeable. Food was amazing, guac was fresh !! All the food was amazing, Drinks were perfect !
Rosa Mexicano is a very high quality restaurant and a perfect summer destination. Excellent food and great drinks and cocktails.
