The staff was exceptional. The food was excellent. The dish I had exceeded my expectations for the price. Quality ingredients.
Terrible Service ! -- Food OK, but overall experience damaged by the poor service and a non-attractive venue (compared to the Rosa Mexicano near Union Square).
Will not be back!
It was the best option for our New Year’s dinner, food was authentic, delicious and served in large portions. Staff was super friendly and we were able to enjoy a great night. Don’t miss the guacamole, it is superb!
We were very disappointed. The food was substandard. We went on New Year's Eve. We think the chef must have taken the night off as we have eaten at a different Rosa Mexicano and the food was three times as good. The Churros were totally overcooked and inedible. My wife had a dish with shrimps as the main feature and there were only three shrimps and loads of rice. The other main courses were mediocre apart from a spicy sausage. The wrong sauces were used. We had to pay $49 prix fixe for something on a regular menu that would have cost less than $40. There was no music for NYE. No atmosphere. We regretted booking
Great food best guacamole ever. Initially seated at small table had to ask to be moved to booth. But food was great.
Flavio is amazing!
Wonderful food, perfectly seasoned (not too salty), great ambience (except for the occasional Christmas song, but thankfully those were few) and fantastic service. We had a great night, and everything was perfect. Our server, Vishall, was just wonderful.
Before tonight, Rosa’s had been my neighborhood favorite go-to since the Tribeca location opened near my office. But I was unhappily surprised tonight by the rude attitude of the hostess. I requested a booth as usual, and the restaurant was nearly empty when I got there—before 6, on a Monday night. I was told that I couldn’t have a booth for 2 people, even though there were 2 couples already seated in booths, and even though I have come for lunches and dinners regularly since they opened, always on the early side of service when uncrowded, and the reservation request was always fulfilled. When I protested that the restaurant was empty the hostess said, “you can request what you want, we don’t have to honor it.” And then continued to say something angrily to the co-hostess in Spanish. I was shocked at her attitude and told the other hostess this as I was led to a small table in back. The entire time we were there, half of the booths remained empty. I’m also sad to say that the famously superior guacamole has been slowly reduced to half the size (but not the price) and has an increased amount of “filler” greens, with less avocado. The encounter made me decide against staying for dinner, and I’ll be much less inclined to automatically go there in future. A pity. I’ve dined at the various locations for many years and had even arranged an office party in the lower level agave bar when they first opened at Tribeca. At least Odeon is nearby.
Our first time as Rosa Mexicano was good...just solidly good. We were seated at an awkward table and and the service was spotty - took a while to get our food. The margaritas were pretty good. The guacamole wasn't the best I've ever had. The fajitas were excellent.
The food and service were very good and we loved the open space concept of this location.
This Rosa Mexicano does not compare to the one on 59th Street. It tries way too hard to be hip and forgets about why people go out to eat in the first place - good food and service. Fortunately the food and drinks (as usual) were good, but the service was absolutely terrible. We were seated at the downstairs “masa and agave” section with one other table. Our waiter was originally good (not too attentive, but helpful) but fell apart as the night went on. He over aggressively asked us if we wanted more drinks on both rounds (we weren’t even halfway through), gave us the wrong bill, charged us for a guacamole we didn’t order, and then wouldn’t take it off the bill. I had to stand up and put my coat on to finally get his attention about giving us the wrong bill. We have tolerated the service and uppityness at this restaurant because we live in the area, but after this, I don’t think we can come back.
I was really disappointed as I’ve been to other locations and the food was good. Mind you I haven’t been to a Rosa Mexicana in years but the guacamole ( which wasn’t prepared next to the table) that we started with to the main dish was really not good. My fish in my fish tacos was burnt, not edible.. the kids fish was dry. Recommend to just have drinks at the bar.
I've been a fan of Rosa Mexicano for years and have dined at all of their locations. I'll definitely go back but Monday's meal was a bit disappointing. The guacamole was too salty. My entree of Budin de Pollo was not up to its usual standard - as a matter of fact is seemed like a totally different dish. The other entrees were okay but not the usual really good. I'll chalk it up to an off night and try again.
They should state on the website or open table that the location is not handicapped accessible. I went there with a friend in a wheelchair (a reserved party of 6) and the only tables large enough were on a balcony with steps. While they ultimately helped to seat us, they should have be transparent of not being accessible for wheelchairs.
Great Mexican food and cocktails! Would recommend this place!
Classic high scale Mexican food. Great choices. Don’t need appetizers. Meal large enough to satisfy. Drinks great.
They have the best food among Rosa Mexicanos in Manhattan. We always enjoy Margaritas, appetizer to main dishes. We regret we didn't have dessert this time, but we will back soon. Only problem was accoustic. Too noisy.
Solid Mexican fare. The pomegranate margaritas and homemade guacamole are always outstanding.
This RM location does not stand up to other locations like the one at Union Square. Food is not bad and service is ok but the overall ambience is kind of let down... nothing exciting and it’s like any other restaurant. I expect more from RM brand otherwise what’s the point of going to a high-end Mexican restaurant.
Great food served in a friendly way. This is one of my favorite places to have Mexican food.
We were seated upstairs in the back of the restaurant. it was incredibly hot. They actually had fans in the room but it still didn't help.
The waiter was very attentive until after we ordered when we rarely saw him. He forgot to bring several things that we asked for - like the drink menu and we just gave up. we had to track someone down to get our dessert and asked for the check at the same time.
It's also pretty loud so I don't think I would go back.
Vishall was the best server ever. Shirley and I come eveey year for her birthday and the Vishall & other servers always make a big deal, which she loves. Thank you all for showing my friend love!
Very dark and small compared to the Rosa Mexicano locations. Disappointed that guacamole was not made at our table side--maybe because it is so small.
The staff was excellent. Gave a great surprise at the end!
Came for a late weekend lunch at an off time and had a great meal. While I was bummed the restaurant week menu didn’t start until 3pm- the food and service were excellent.
Cornbread with lime butter - so good
Brunch Huevos Josephina - large but just okay
Guacamole - always a hit
Tacos - always a hit
Churros - great, would be better with dulce de leche instead of that sweet berry sauce
Three cheers for our waitress who went above and beyond with a smile, Celeste.
It was date night for my wife and I and she was in the mood for Mexican. We ordered guacamole as an appetizer and shared our entrees. The service was kinda slow for a slow night but the food was ok.
Bring sweaters and blankets! This restaurant is freezimg cold and management will not care about this.
We came with 2 toddlers on a Saturday at noon. We were the only people in the restaurant for the length of our stay (about an hour). Shortly after sitting at our table my kids started to complain it was too cold. I was also very cold. We asked the waitress if something could be done. Management said they would take care of it, but not much was done. We kept feeling the cold A/C breeze above us. It so cold we had to take hoddies out and pool towels we were carrying by chance to cover ourselves.
We couldnt enjoy the delicious food because it was so cold. Waiter and personnel from the kitchen were lovely. Management was the problem. We won’t come back and do not recommend to others.
Great food, but way too noisy. I wish the noise level were tolerable.
The physically smallest of their restaurants, so things like tableside guac, so popular at other locations is
not available here. Food was very good. Wait seemed long for the volume of people at the time. Too noisy downstairs for casual conversation, ask for a table upstairs.
Fantastic for Celiacs - lots of gluten-free choices and safe food handling practice. Top marks!
Dark and dingy...not nearlyas good as other Rosa Mexicana loccations.
We had a very nice dinner - the food was delicious and the server was very nice and accommodated our requests.
We were seated downstairs in the bar however and it was extremely noisy; not the most enjoyable environment when you want to chat with friends over dinner.
I would recommend this restaurant as the food is excellent; but I would ask to sit upstairs.
Great tortilla chips!
Our waitress neglected our table and food to ok too long to come out. One coworker had to take lunch to go because she ran out of time. And our dessert never came to our table. We were so aggravated we left without coffee and dessert.
Ok, I hate to do this because I have always been a big fan of Rosa Union Square but this location is just missing the boat. It was really dark and the service was not good. Our waiter, while sweet, was not super attentive. It took forever for him to actually come and ask if we wanted guacamole. And that was only after I flagged him down! Hello?? Don’t they usually ask that when they take your drink order?? Then the guacamole took FOREVER to come. Overall, though I feel like Rosa is not quite as good as it used to be. I am not a super big drinker but the pomegranate margaritas seem maybe smaller and/or like they have less alcohol in them or something, and the guacamole seems off - lacking in flavor. I heard Rosa had been sold a little while ago so maybe that’s what’s going on. For sure, I’ll not be going back to the TriBeCa location. And, sorry to say, I might not be rushing to the Union Square location soon either :(
Very noisy, difficult to hear each other, food was very good
The food was amazing! Loved it and will definitely return!
