The physically smallest of their restaurants, so things like tableside guac, so popular at other locations is
not available here. Food was very good. Wait seemed long for the volume of people at the time. Too noisy downstairs for casual conversation, ask for a table upstairs.
Fantastic for Celiacs - lots of gluten-free choices and safe food handling practice. Top marks!
Dark and dingy...not nearlyas good as other Rosa Mexicana loccations.
We had a very nice dinner - the food was delicious and the server was very nice and accommodated our requests.
We were seated downstairs in the bar however and it was extremely noisy; not the most enjoyable environment when you want to chat with friends over dinner.
I would recommend this restaurant as the food is excellent; but I would ask to sit upstairs.
Our waitress neglected our table and food to ok too long to come out. One coworker had to take lunch to go because she ran out of time. And our dessert never came to our table. We were so aggravated we left without coffee and dessert.
Ok, I hate to do this because I have always been a big fan of Rosa Union Square but this location is just missing the boat. It was really dark and the service was not good. Our waiter, while sweet, was not super attentive. It took forever for him to actually come and ask if we wanted guacamole. And that was only after I flagged him down! Hello?? Don’t they usually ask that when they take your drink order?? Then the guacamole took FOREVER to come. Overall, though I feel like Rosa is not quite as good as it used to be. I am not a super big drinker but the pomegranate margaritas seem maybe smaller and/or like they have less alcohol in them or something, and the guacamole seems off - lacking in flavor. I heard Rosa had been sold a little while ago so maybe that’s what’s going on. For sure, I’ll not be going back to the TriBeCa location. And, sorry to say, I might not be rushing to the Union Square location soon either :(
Very noisy, difficult to hear each other, food was very good
The food was amazing! Loved it and will definitely return!
Food and drinks were good and wait staff was very attentive. However, the lighting was too dimmed. Otherwise it was a good experience.
Signature cocktail is a MUST HAVE! :)
Probably the worse meal I’ve ever had in TriBeCa in the last 8 years
Great food great service!
Thoroughly enjoyed our family’s get together last night at this restaurant. We found it through OT. Our server Brian had a lovely table presence and made good recommendations for the table. We enjoyed good conversation in the back room with excellent service. Drinks were good but not excellent food came quickly and we all enjoyed our choices. Service was what stood out the most. We will return when next in town.
Worst margarita I have ever had and very expensive. We waited an hour for our dinner, when it came out it was cold. Stay clear of this restaurant.
Went there Cinco de Mayo Saturday at 6:15 extremely loud, we were seated in an upper level that lost power and did not come back on for awhile, they were using carpet/floor dryers to circulate the air. Wait staff didn’t go out of their way for anything. Ordered guacamole the server came upstairs with it took it to another table then took it back downstairs when he came back up I said to him the guacamole might have been ours so he brought it back. I will have to say the guacamole was very good. Had to keep asking for refills on water. And for some reason they were out of some steak options by 6:15pm. Then there were these two people walking around with a pad and pen writing down either what people are eating or seeing how far along you are with your meal. Don’t know if we would return or recommend to anyone.
Great frozen pomegranate margaritas! Great food!
Music was very loud could not have a conversation. Place in union square was far superior. Food was cold and place very dark. I was seated in the basement.
This could be a solid NYC Mexican restaurant for food, quality and ambiance...but... the service is always terrible. Long wait to be seated despite having a reservation; staff seemed overwhelmed and gave off a feeling of chaos despite not being that busy on a Saturday afternoon; long wait to order, longer wait for food; very young/inexperienced wait staff...more chaos. No dairy alternative milk for coffee.. it's 2018. Toilet paper completely ran out in both stalls of the women's bathroom...honestly. I don't think I will be returning.
I was taking a new employee out to lunch before his start date. I gave my card to pay; female server brought slip back to sign, didn't hesitate to put it directly in front of him. No fair guessing that I happen to be a woman and clearly older than my employee, dressed in a suit whereas he was dressed casually. I mentioned it to the woman at the desk, who laughed, said sure, will say something. This is 2018. ?!
The lunch was delicious as usual. The guacamole is always excellent. Wait staff is spot on.
Consistently excellent food! Always enjoy a meal here :)
They don't make the guacamole at the moment, very slow the service, and at the beginning want to give us a table for 8 people underground when we were only 2 , the service so poor, I guess it was a better restaurant.
Start to finish everything was great! Waitress was attentive and very sweet. She knew the menu well and offers suggestions.
Not the best pieces of chicken in my tacos. Did a lot of filtering with my knife and fork. Whiteish is the best I could describe some of it.
The food took way too long to arrive
The fish was dry and the waitress did not come over to check on us. The noise was deafening in the loft seating area
I would not go back - terrible
I went on a mini get away trip. This restaurant was recommended by a top chef so I knew I was in for some amazing food. From the moment I entered the restaurant I was greeted by a kind, hospitable manager and was sat right away. Everything was incredible beautiful, from The music and lighting. My only wish is that I could have been sat in the back seating area underneath the beautiful chandler piece. However our waitress was extremely kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. From helping us deciding our drinks, to choosing desert, she was there every step of the way!
Bottom line. I’d return any day for any occasion!
——— THANK YOU Rosa Mexicano!
As always, Rosa Mexicano Tribeca is a fun night with bestie! All the servers and bartenders are attentive and creative, but Stephanie is always smiling, gracious, and, therefore, we asked to be seated in her section. After many Margaritas and tapas, the restaurant was kind and brought out the big sombrero, tres leche cake with a lit candle to sing me happy birthday. I had such a great time that I forgot to redeem the OPENTABLE reward I planned to use.
We went to Rosa Americano based on a friend's recommendation and the experience surpassed our expectations. The drinks and the food were really great.
Wonderful service.... terrible food. Extremely Americanized food that made it nothing close to Mexican food. The only flavor they have for everything is spicy.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and amazing service.
The atmosphere was great here. Came with a few of my girlfriends for dinner and we were extremely pleased with everything. We had the BEST food, and the best maragarita we’ve ever tasted. We have literally 0 complaints and can’t wait to go back. Also the staff was so polite and efficient! Love this place!
Wonderful atmosphere and wonderful food and service! Quiet and cute neighborhood place that exceeded expectations...and a great value too!
Great restaurant for any occasion. Food was good both the appetizer and the main course everything was good for me and my fiancée date night. Service was good and pricing was also good.
One of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in New York in 20 years. Abysmal service, the food was disgusting. We were all afraid we were going to get sick. They ended up comping all the food. Would never, ever return.
I’m a regular customer at Rosa Tribeca. But this visit was just off. The waitress kept trying to suggest the Valentine’s Day specials which were more expensive even after we told her what we wanted, she still kept trying to upsell us. Our food this time around was just bland across the board. The guacamole was lackluster, no salt, one chunk of onion, hardly taste any cilantro or lime. I mean I’ve had the guacamole here before and it was amazing but it seems like the regular chef took a day off or something. Maybe it’s time for me to check out the union square location. If the quality has gone down then I’ll have to find a new favorite Mexican restaurant to eat at. Such a shame.
I did not like that the waiter we had insisted on my husband to keep trying to pronounce the dinner we ordered, We both felt he was being nasty about it, the menus need to have bigger print, and lighting on the tables so you can see what your ordering, We both did not care for the food ,
Best guacamole ever!!
Horrible service. Over priced for the food and service. Called for a waiter, she looked at me and turned right back around ignoring me completely.. horrible. Food took 40 min to get to the table. I ordered my guacamole spicy and the waiter admitted that he made it mild!! Realllyyy?!? He needed to remake it. Def won’t visit them again!
It was very nice to have a space in the back room that was quiet and which to celebrate with a group of people. The wait staff was lovely and accommodating and the food was terrific.
This Rosa Mexicana was quite a let down. It’s located in a beautiful space but offers mediocre service and food at best. Points of contention:
* we had to request a glass of water.
* we had to request a second round of drinks.
* we had to request the side dishes we ordered a second time.
* the entrees came out spicey and smothered in sauce after a request to be mild and served on the side.
* we were told verbatim: “That’s the way it is in Mexican food”
Overall it was a disappointing service experience and one that is likely to deter other visits.
