We stuffed ourselves with the excellent chips and guac, and pitcher of sangria, so could barely finish our main meals, but it was all good! Nice vegetarian options which I appreciated. The drinks are delicious and it's a great place for large groups.
Long wait for meal especially for not being a full house.
JORGE!!!!! He is the one that makes the difference every time we visit Rosa Mexicano. We have visited NYC, MIA and SFO and truly Jorge’s service is what makes the visit worth it.
The enchiladas were not what I was expecting ‘y tortillas were hard.
Unlike many SF restaurants, getting a reservation at Rosa Mexicano was very easy. I suspect that walk-ins would not have a problem either. The atmosphere and decor are not what you'd typically expect at a Mexican restaurant, but were quite pleasant and relaxed. The food was good, starting with the freshly made chips and guacamole. The menu is fairly varied (my carnitas were excellent), and the portions are generous. I ended up taking nearly half of my entree home. The initial service was prompt, friendly and helpful. During the meal our server checked in periodically without being overbearing. If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant, Rosa Mexicano is a solid choice.
I loved my meal. Very authentic service was superb!
Rosa Mexicano is just always a amazing experience. Great food and drinks.
Great for groups.
I really love this place, me and my partner come here often and always enjoy the food and the service.
Food is good, but not very spicy (even when you asked for extra spicy). Service is fine for food but really slow for wine on two separate occasions.
I liked the food. It was good, and wasn't heavy, more like healthy.
Best guacamole in the Bay Area. The Mole Poblano is also very nice as are the tacos.
When the weather is good, which is most of the time, it's great to sit outside at night. Enjoy the cool breeze and night sky as you're served really delicious food from friendly, polite staff. The drinks are great and selection large but not overwhelming. The food didn't arrive immediately but I didn't really mind as it was such a wonderful night. Plus the chips and salsa kept me busy. Its not that noisy, despite being at an intersection. Just a few busses now and then plus the odd "ding ding" from the old streetcars.
Food was quite tasty, but... Service was painfully slow - place was busy but not busting at the seams. Way too expensive - happy hour bill for two was $80 w/o tip. Their happy hour prices are like other restaurants' regular prices.
Great cocktails 5/5. Food was very good. Service was horrible and we were the only ones in the restaurant
Best Mexican in town. The shrimp tacos and quesadilla are the best we have ever had.
Unfortunately the experience was ruined by horrible service. Couldn't even get chips with our $16 guacamole. Took about 30 minutes and 4 different requests. They finally comped the guac but we did finally get our chips, after the main and before dessert. Sad.
The guacamole is pricey and just OK. The server forgot an order and mixed up a few things. Nothing terrible, but still annoying.
My first visit to Rosa Mexicana in sf and it didn’t disappoint! Guacamole was great as well as my cucumber margarita and chicken enchiladas were just right !
Great food wonderful service, there was a mix up with salad order but when pointed out, they immediately brought it out and even made it complimentary. Guacamole is super good.
Very good, A little overpriced for the quality
The food was mediocre for the cost. Guacamole as an appetizer was $16 and 3 bland fish tacos cost $20. Felt I was paying for location and that's it. And when a non-server picked up our check and I asked if he could split the bill between the 2 cards attached to the bill,he got all flustered and handed the bill to our actual waiter (who was very nice) and quickly walked away like it was too much ask. Our waiter easily obliged. I will not being go back here.
Fantastic Gucamole! My business team loved having lunch here.
Great food, friendly and professional staff. Good place to just lay back and enjoy food and friends.
The dizzying array of tequilas for margaritas was impressive and the two we got we're well balanced. The other bar items were good too. Food was decent; the table-made guac was excellent as was the carnitas.
First time visiting Rosa Mexicano and my guest and I were satisfied with our dinning experience. We ordered the guacamole to start, which they make directly in front of the table. It was delicious! Since there was only two of us, we had a lot left over. We ordered the fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. It came with 3 tacos each, a side of beans and rice and corn. You get a lot of food per serving, so it's safe to say you'll take some home with you. Definitely a must try!
Food was good and service was quick, which is what we needed. All in all it was a tasty lunch.
Nice restaurant. was very empty so felt abandoned. Service was good. food was very spicy. Not suitable for young kids
New Years Eve
Before making the reservation, we scoured the website and OT to make sure that we could use the regular menu. THere was no mention of a prefix (like every other restaurant on NYE), so this is why we chose to dine here. Very disappointing coming in to find out the regular menu wasn't available.
The people working the door were very rude. We called to ask about parking and were told "It's New Years". Great, like we didn't know the date. Then when we entered, we were told we had to be up by a certain time. I understand telling a walk-in this, but starting out our experience in such a negative way for a reservation, was not a great feeling. Perhaps putting a note in your OT responses so when we make the reservation we know this and then we have time to cancel if we decide to? (BTW, we were up in less than an hour, so being that rude was really pointless.)
Then we were ignored by staff for 12 minutes at the table and then were helped by a really curt and irritated server. Halfway through the meal, Benjamin took over (perhaps he was unavailable when we sat and the rude server was covering him). Benjamin was a breath of fresh air! He made sure we got chips and salsa ASAP since we were ignored for so long. He was attentive and thoughtful. The food runner that evening was also wonderful.
The food was disappointing. We came here after loving the Rosa Mexicano in DC for years and it was subpar. The salsa had no heat and the only good enchilada was the mole. The rest needed the acidity better balanced. The relleno was solid!
Made a reservation. Arrived on time. The moment we sat down, someone asked if we'd like guacamole - of course! The guacamole arrived quickly......and then NOTHING. No menus, no waiter, no nothing for 20 minutes. The only way we got any food at all was by stopping the busboy. And, this was after 5 minutes of frantically waving at any server we could see. This was not my first time there, but it will be my last. Food was good, but it's not worth the hassle.
There was 8 of us in attendance. I had the Baha Pescado while my husband ordered the Chamorro (sp) along with the Queso Fundido w/Chorizo. My fish tacos were good. The Chamorro was very tender and tasty. We also had the Elote that wasn't good due to the corn being undercooked or not fresh? Overall the remaining 6 of us were very happy with their meals. The salsa was bland to most of us, tasted more like something from a jar even tho it wasn't. The Guacamole on the other hand was awesome esp the Spicy one! Wasn't that spicy but just enough kick to make it enjoyable. We'd all go back again. The hostess that greeted us wasn't pleasant at all. Didn't smile and just had a mad dog face all the time. We were there Sunday 12/17/17 for dinner.
Went for an early dinner before we left the city and was not disappointed. The menu was not what I was expecting. It seemed like a fancier take on the traditional Mexican food I am use to. This being said, the food was fantastic as were the drinks and staff.
Usually reliable, but this time we experienced really horrible service.
We arrived early and were welcomed with an attitude from the hostess who did not want to help us. She said there was nothing she could do until 4. We waited at the bar and were taken to our table 20 minutes after our original reservation. During our dinner, service was slow, the wait staff forgot a number of our requests, and there was no joy in the service. The experience was a disappointment.
Took 20 minutes before server came to ask to take our order, then another 30 minutes for food to come out. Server dropped a knife covered with sauce on my shirt, and only offered a napkin with soda water on it (which took a while before coming out). I used to dine here several times a month, but now I’m reminded why I stopped. It was only out of convenience today, but didn’t turn out well.
Horrible food and i say that rarely. Might as well have been a taco bell taco. Salsa tasted like catsup. Service was good however.
Date with my husband. Great food And service
Great food, wonderful service, HAVE TO TRY THE CHURRO Dessert!
Great service and good.
