Our first Rosa Mexicano to open in New Jersey is located at The Shops at Riverside in Bergen County. The 160-seat restaurant features a spacious bar and lounge area, as well as outdoor and private dining options. Under the creative direction of architect and designer Timothy Higgins, the décor features vibrant colors such as vivid pink, deep maroon, rich butterscotch and warm yellow. Traditional craftwork and adornments include Oaxacan wood carvings of mythical animals, custom wax-dipped artwork, Mayan Indian textiles, and folk art masks. Tortillas are fresh-made on-site at a station featuring colorful tiles and a hammered copper hood. Through the unique designs and cuisine, all will encounter an authentic Mexican experience at Rosa Mexicano.

We had a group with some dietary restrictions (gluten free and vegetarian). Everyone was able to find something delicious. Service was wonderful and such a fun ambiance!

We like your restaurant we went there on my birthday in December and New Year's Eve and Christmas Day... received the Valentine Day menu which look unique and interesting... both managers came over and even another manager who is with the restaurant in California who are going to refer people to him to go in LA. We are treated well. Sometimes it would be nice to see the main menu change a bit.. for that reason we tend to wait for special menus to come up. I've been going for years starting a New York when they were pink tablecloths... and pink Decor which seem to really work well... kind of miss that although the decor is okay in New Jersey.

The table side guacamole is consistently good, but the rest of the menu can be hit or miss.

My order of Alambre a la Mexicana (Skewered filet, chorizo, onions, tomatoes and chilis) was a mess. The filet was undercooked and the rest were so burnt I was breaking off large black pieces of ash. The tomatoes did not make it to the table, so I assume they were too burnt to put on the plate.

Clearly the beef needs to be cooked separately first, since the cooking times are not similar.

Someone at my table ordered the salmon which was undercooked, but tasted great. The sides were also excellent.

The restaurant gets busy so always make a reservation and be prepared to wait a little bit. I recommend going off-peak hours where more attention can be paid to the food.

The restaurant was crowded on a Saturday night, but we were warmly greeted and seated right away and our waitress was friendly and attentive, despite having several tables to manage. I'm sorry I don't recall her name; she was great. We skipped the guacamole on this night, but it's always been delicious and well prepared in the past. We had the Camarones Capeados and Pollo Adobado. Both arrived hot and were well prepared and yummy. Of course, we had the churros for dessert. They didn't disappoint!

One minor negative - we ordered a Tanqueray and tonic but were served Bombay Sapphire gin without being told. It tasted a little different, but we always assume it's the tonic when a G&T isn't quite what we expect. Honestly, it was fine. Just let us know if you don't have the gin we asked for.

My husband and I visited Rosa Mexicano for a quick bite before going to the movies. Our waiter this time around was probably the best one that we have ever had. He listened to what we liked and disliked and really went out of his way to make this experience a pleasant one. My husband did not like the taste of the food he ordered and the waiter noticed that he only ate one shrimp quesadilla. The waiter asked what happened and I explained. He went to the manager and the manager took the appetizer off the bill. The waiter also remembered that I didn't really like spicy food and he put one of the spicy sauces on the side. So our waiter really gets 2 thumbs up/5 stars. Thanks for the great service.

Quality has gone way down. Service was great but they now combine rice and beans in a tiny bowl for the table to share and it just looks odd and cheap. The flan is about 1/2 inch tall. Just seems very different than our usual experience and even experience about a month ago at Lincoln center. To easily spend 200 on a night out and have them cut so many quarter and be cheap on a quiet night is sad.

It was our third year in a row going for New Years Eve early dinner. The shortened menu was not my favorite and the server gave us the wrong meals. We didn't have time to send them back. Since the prices aren't cheap, it was a real disappointment! We'll be starting a new tradition somewhere else next year. We will return for happy hour in the summer but the service has diminished and the prices are too inflated to keep going for dinner.

My family had dinner here on Christmas Day. We were so grateful to have found this place, one of the few restaurants open on Christmas Day. A pleasant surprise. Greeted warmly at the front desk, our wait server, Christian, was kind enough to separate the checks into three, made wonderful suggestions and it was clear he knew the menu. The food arrived promptly and we all enjoyed the lovely meal. I would definitely return.

We have been to RosaMexocana before. On this day, we were deeply disappointed. The guacamole was great, and the desert was just okay. But the main courses were awful. My friend had dry fried scrambled eggs with dry ham and fried chips- not called that, but it was just terrible. More like fast food. We asked for no spiced sauce and it was served with spices sauce. We returned it and T appeared that the same over cooked meal was returned to my friend. My meal was poor to mediocre at best. Also a brunch dish. Eggs were over cooked on a tortilla with very little black beans. Chunks of cold cheese on top. As my friend is blind, I didn’t Want to make a scene and return it again. We ate and left. Don’t Know if we’ll be back. Also, the plantains were very greasy. Just very very disappointed.

This is the 2nd time I’ve been here & it was as amazing as the last time. We come after church & the food is great 👍🏽 BUT the freshly made guacamole is absolutely phenomenal! I can just come here for that & the salsa & be quite satisfied. I had the portobello tacos that were delicious 😋 so I definitely will be returning & referring all my church family to come to eat & imbide also.
👍🏽👌🏽🤩🤗

Rosa Mexicana is always terrific. Love their margaritas and guacamole. My teenage son, who can be a picky eater ate everything! And the booths are very comfortable.

This was the first time we were disappointed . The guacamole was great . We ordered a fish entree....we were told by the waiter it was sword fish. The entree came...it was obviously not sword fish... very unappetizing...when we mentioned it to our server, he told us he made a mistake ...it was codfish. We never eat codfish and would not have ordered...so, we did not enjoy this meal. He did not charge us for the entree.. This is the only time we had a problem...usually we love this place.
