About Rosa Mexicano - Riverside Square
Our first Rosa Mexicano to open in New Jersey is located at The Shops at Riverside in Bergen County. The 160-seat restaurant features a spacious bar and lounge area, as well as outdoor and private dining options. Under the creative direction of architect and designer Timothy Higgins, the décor features vibrant colors such as vivid pink, deep maroon, rich butterscotch and warm yellow. Traditional craftwork and adornments include Oaxacan wood carvings of mythical animals, custom wax-dipped artwork, Mayan Indian textiles, and folk art masks. Tortillas are fresh-made on-site at a station featuring colorful tiles and a hammered copper hood. Through the unique designs and cuisine, all will encounter an authentic Mexican experience at Rosa Mexicano.

Rosa Mexicano - Riverside Square Ratings and Reviews
Quality has gone way down. Service was great but they now combine rice and beans in a tiny bowl for the table to share and it just looks odd and cheap. The flan is about 1/2 inch tall. Just seems very different than our usual experience and even experience about a month ago at Lincoln center. To easily spend 200 on a night out and have them cut so many quarter and be cheap on a quiet night is sad.
It was our third year in a row going for New Years Eve early dinner. The shortened menu was not my favorite and the server gave us the wrong meals. We didn't have time to send them back. Since the prices aren't cheap, it was a real disappointment! We'll be starting a new tradition somewhere else next year. We will return for happy hour in the summer but the service has diminished and the prices are too inflated to keep going for dinner.
My family had dinner here on Christmas Day. We were so grateful to have found this place, one of the few restaurants open on Christmas Day. A pleasant surprise. Greeted warmly at the front desk, our wait server, Christian, was kind enough to separate the checks into three, made wonderful suggestions and it was clear he knew the menu. The food arrived promptly and we all enjoyed the lovely meal. I would definitely return.
We have been to RosaMexocana before. On this day, we were deeply disappointed. The guacamole was great, and the desert was just okay. But the main courses were awful. My friend had dry fried scrambled eggs with dry ham and fried chips- not called that, but it was just terrible. More like fast food. We asked for no spiced sauce and it was served with spices sauce. We returned it and T appeared that the same over cooked meal was returned to my friend. My meal was poor to mediocre at best. Also a brunch dish. Eggs were over cooked on a tortilla with very little black beans. Chunks of cold cheese on top. As my friend is blind, I didn’t Want to make a scene and return it again. We ate and left. Don’t Know if we’ll be back. Also, the plantains were very greasy. Just very very disappointed.
This is the 2nd time I’ve been here & it was as amazing as the last time. We come after church & the food is great 👍🏽 BUT the freshly made guacamole is absolutely phenomenal! I can just come here for that & the salsa & be quite satisfied. I had the portobello tacos that were delicious 😋 so I definitely will be returning & referring all my church family to come to eat & imbide also.
This was the first time we were disappointed . The guacamole was great . We ordered a fish entree....we were told by the waiter it was sword fish. The entree came...it was obviously not sword fish... very unappetizing...when we mentioned it to our server, he told us he made a mistake ...it was codfish. We never eat codfish and would not have ordered...so, we did not enjoy this meal. He did not charge us for the entree.. This is the only time we had a problem...usually we love this place.
Our greeter was enthusiastic in telling us (when asked) her favorites, which were numerous. "Everything is good here," she said, and she had tried practically everything. The signature guacamole, made table-side, was so good we ordered seconds. The appetizer quesadillas are meal-size. Our table enjoyed the chicken and shrimp quesadillas, the flautas and carnitas, all of which are filling and delicious. Service was prompt. Nasir, our waiter, brought us delicious cocktails, including La Única and La Suprema Margaritas, both on the rocks, with a lime-salt rim halfway around the highball glass. A table assistant brought tinga quesadilla samples, on the house, for the table, which are worth ordering. Nasir was ever-attentive without hovering. He's a class act. The only negative: We had no room for their yummy desserts.
Always consistent, with great Mexican selections. Glad there was a salad option for those concerned with weight issues. But no cappuccino nor espresso again...machine has never been replaced - in at least six months of asking! Alas, the special chocolate dessert was unavailable (at one pm), but when our second favorite dessert, churros, arrived, a few extras were added by our excellent waiter in compensation.
The pomegranate Margaritas were absolutely yummy as was their table side guacamole. Our server however was the best. Very eager to please and made accommodations immediately when the first batch of chips was too salty and the first batch of guacamole was too spicy even though we told here to just add an avocado. Overall good food, nice ambiance and great service.
Enjoyed good food and pretty good service, but couldn't stop noticing that the space is tired and needs to be revived. They were very accommodating for child's dish. Camerones dinner was very good but so spicy we weren't able to eat the full meal. Loved the plantains. Nice seating outside.
Very tasty and good food with real mexican flavor. Nicely decorated, good cocktails and mexican beer but there was no mexican horchata or jamaica or even lemonade for kids…
The service was just ok and the hostess just polite, that's all. (we asked for chicken with mole and she served enchiladas de mole… not paying attention at all) (one dish was out first and then all others…)
Sad, Mexico is a country where hospitality is really important and really good… this restaurant in terms of services does not reflect what mexican people are like but food is good!
