Our first Rosa Mexicano to open in New Jersey is located at The Shops at Riverside in Bergen County. The 160-seat restaurant features a spacious bar and lounge area, as well as outdoor and private dining options. Under the creative direction of architect and designer Timothy Higgins, the décor features vibrant colors such as vivid pink, deep maroon, rich butterscotch and warm yellow. Traditional craftwork and adornments include Oaxacan wood carvings of mythical animals, custom wax-dipped artwork, Mayan Indian textiles, and folk art masks. Tortillas are fresh-made on-site at a station featuring colorful tiles and a hammered copper hood. Through the unique designs and cuisine, all will encounter an authentic Mexican experience at Rosa Mexicano.

The guacamole is fresh and too die for. I thought it was a bit pricey for the amount they give you but it’s delicious nevertheless. I also love my alcoholic beverage as well. The waiter was polite and quick. And I love the ambiance. The bad part is that parking sucks. They have valet but it’s $6 this and so there’s about 3-5 rows reserved for that purpose. Regular parking begins in the back of the parking lot. That’d be my only complaint.

The restaurant used to be more upscale and great for a date night. It was filled with mall goers in sweats and hoodies, a large amount of kids everywhere, and only more mall shoppers and children running all over when we left at 745. Very disappointed, I was there to celebrate my anniversary, instead it felt like a visit to Applebee’s. The noise level was so loud and the wait staff was rude. I made a reservation and instead of seAting at an open table, we were seated on a booth in between 2 other couples. The atmosphere is not at all what it used to be, and no longer an ideal spot for a date or celebration dinner.

I loved the vibe and atmosphere of this particular location. The food is fresh and the service is attentive. The guacamole is a bit bland. They need to add more flavor to it with perhaps lemon and more cilantro. Other than that, all was good and tasty.

Probably won’t be back. The food was just ok. Certainly not worth the prices that you’ll be paying. The guac was awesome, but $15 for guacamole is pretty excessive. The rest was just eh. The inside decor is nice, the seating arrangements not so much. We were sandwiched between two other couples, tables were way to tight. Very difficult to have a conversation. The service was also slow. Server was nice enough, but waiting 30 mins to get drinks and have order taken doesn’t hack it for me.

Food and service were excellent. We all enjoyed the table side-prepared guacamole appetizer. All the entrees were well prepared and presented. We enjoyed the enchiladas, the fajitas, and the brunch French toast. We would definitely go again.

I was very disappointed with everything. The carnitas were sitting in oil. I was offered guacamole without seeing a menu and never given a price. The waiter offered guacamole and just gave me two one with spice and the other without and never mentioned it was 15 a piece. My family did not enjoy the food at all. I was very unhappy with the whole experience. The restaurant was prettt but the food easy horrible.

We hadn’t been to Rosa Mexicana in a while. It was ok and not as good as we remembered. Service was fair - not very attentive and food was average. Probably will try again in hopes that we were there on an off night.

We like your restaurant we went there on my birthday in December and New Year's Eve and Christmas Day... received the Valentine Day menu which look unique and interesting... both managers came over and even another manager who is with the restaurant in California who are going to refer people to him to go in LA. We are treated well. Sometimes it would be nice to see the main menu change a bit.. for that reason we tend to wait for special menus to come up. I've been going for years starting a New York when they were pink tablecloths... and pink Decor which seem to really work well... kind of miss that although the decor is okay in New Jersey.

The table side guacamole is consistently good, but the rest of the menu can be hit or miss.

My order of Alambre a la Mexicana (Skewered filet, chorizo, onions, tomatoes and chilis) was a mess. The filet was undercooked and the rest were so burnt I was breaking off large black pieces of ash. The tomatoes did not make it to the table, so I assume they were too burnt to put on the plate.

Clearly the beef needs to be cooked separately first, since the cooking times are not similar.

Someone at my table ordered the salmon which was undercooked, but tasted great. The sides were also excellent.

The restaurant gets busy so always make a reservation and be prepared to wait a little bit. I recommend going off-peak hours where more attention can be paid to the food.

The restaurant was crowded on a Saturday night, but we were warmly greeted and seated right away and our waitress was friendly and attentive, despite having several tables to manage. I'm sorry I don't recall her name; she was great. We skipped the guacamole on this night, but it's always been delicious and well prepared in the past. We had the Camarones Capeados and Pollo Adobado. Both arrived hot and were well prepared and yummy. Of course, we had the churros for dessert. They didn't disappoint!

One minor negative - we ordered a Tanqueray and tonic but were served Bombay Sapphire gin without being told. It tasted a little different, but we always assume it's the tonic when a G&T isn't quite what we expect. Honestly, it was fine. Just let us know if you don't have the gin we asked for.

My husband and I visited Rosa Mexicano for a quick bite before going to the movies. Our waiter this time around was probably the best one that we have ever had. He listened to what we liked and disliked and really went out of his way to make this experience a pleasant one. My husband did not like the taste of the food he ordered and the waiter noticed that he only ate one shrimp quesadilla. The waiter asked what happened and I explained. He went to the manager and the manager took the appetizer off the bill. The waiter also remembered that I didn't really like spicy food and he put one of the spicy sauces on the side. So our waiter really gets 2 thumbs up/5 stars. Thanks for the great service.

Quality has gone way down. Service was great but they now combine rice and beans in a tiny bowl for the table to share and it just looks odd and cheap. The flan is about 1/2 inch tall. Just seems very different than our usual experience and even experience about a month ago at Lincoln center. To easily spend 200 on a night out and have them cut so many quarter and be cheap on a quiet night is sad.

It was our third year in a row going for New Years Eve early dinner. The shortened menu was not my favorite and the server gave us the wrong meals. We didn't have time to send them back. Since the prices aren't cheap, it was a real disappointment! We'll be starting a new tradition somewhere else next year. We will return for happy hour in the summer but the service has diminished and the prices are too inflated to keep going for dinner.
