About Rosa Mexicano - National Harbor
In 1984, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened on the upper east side of New York City. Playing a leading role in defining what was then a "new" cuisine to American diners, Rosa Mexicano delivers authentic Mexican cooking in an accessible, stylishly festive atmosphere. Rosa Mexicano's menu features a range of award-winning signature dishes, including our Guacamole en Molcajete, in a traditional lava rock mortar. Described by Time Out New York as "green ecstasy in a stone bowl," it is prepared table side and served with house made chips, warm corn tortillas and condiment salsas. Rosa Mexicano is also known for the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, as well as the stylish and festive ambiance that includes an illuminated water wall.

Rosa Mexicano - National Harbor Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious! I have seen reviews that comment on the price, but to us, it is worth it because of the quality of the food. The servers are all extremely polite and helpful and the food was fantastic! We had the tableside guacamole, queso fundido, and the chamorro. Fantastic!!
Instead of the usual night out for NYE, my friends and I chose to celebrate with dinner and a small gathering at a private home. We thoroughly enjoyed Rosa Mexicano’s four-course meal option for the night. I had the salmon and it was grilled to perfection. Everything tasted so good. Not my first time and certainly not my last! The service and ambience were great and well exceeded or expectations.
I was very disappointed because when I made the reservation there was no information that it was a prefixe menu only. I found out about it when we checked on at the restaurant... we would have not gone there if we knew this because it was overpriced. Service was below average - our empty margarita glasses littered the table all night... my food came out cold....
Food and service was wonderful HOWEVER we were not told when making the reservations that they had a special menu. Menu was $49 pp and my husband and I didn’t come prepared to have a 4 course meal. They told us at the front door but on New Year eve, we wouldn’t be able to get into any other sit down restaurant so late. So although the food was good, it was not worth $49 pp. Based on the normal menu price, we would have paid less paying for each item. -(they gave us the wrong menu at first which had prices )
The food was pretty amazing. Table side service to make the guacamole which was absolutely delicious. The food is pretty authentic; so if you have kids who like traditional mexican food (without the spices) then be weary/mindful. But definitely a great spot for adults.
Service was extremely slow. Asked for kids menus multiple times, but never received them. Drinks took a very long time. We sat for 45 min before ordering. Our food was all very greasy & under seasoned. Server seemed flustered & overwhelmed. Was inattentive. The kids rice, beans, & veggie quesadillas were all to spicy to eat - and we like spicy food. The side of roasted cauliflower was nearly raw & cold. A disappointing experience for sure.
Service was great and good was delicious! We would definitely recommend this restaurant to any one looking for authentic Mexican food! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff was friendly. We were served our food very quickly despite the restaurant being busy! Everything was fresh and the portions were more than enough. Come hungry ...there will be plenty to eat and be sure to order the tableside guacamole!!
The restaurant was very busy. And our server was in the weeds (had too many tables at once). The food was Luke warm and the presentation was terrible. Our server seemed very rushed. I was a little embarrassed because I invited my whole family for dinner. However, I've been to this restaurant many times before and had a great experience.
We've been to this location a number of times and we have never been disappointed. Excellent service, very friendly staff and outstanding food. The table side guacamole is a must to start off with! Margaritas are too shelf and they have a huge tequila selection. Highly recommend!!
Had reservations here, got there about 20 min early and my family and I were seated immediately. Loved that. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice. The food was good my children enjoyed there dishes my husband wasn’t as impressed but he is picky. This place is rather pricey for a Mexican restaurant but that’s to be expected given the location. I would come back our waiter was very attentive and personable.
They need one person hostess to seat customers not three or four! Be more hospitable & professional and greet your customers with a smile so they will want to come back for your food.Bad service will drive local customers like me away since there are so many great restaurants out there. Thank you.
Surprisingly good Mexican food for the DC area. Excellent service and great drinks. The restaurant also worked with us when we needed to change the reservation time. I would be happy to recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food and a good dining experience.
The food was overpriced. If I wanted to pay $170 for four people I would have enjoyed sending a bit more i.e. $230 and dined at some other fine-er restaurant. The service was weak at best. I felt like I was at a place where servers don't really care for my dining experience. Never going back to Rosa Mexicano. I would have spent about the same at Oyamel and actually had good Mexican food.
Always a treat! I couldn’t ask for anything more. I love everything about this restaurant. We were seated immediately, chips and salsa came out almost immediately after we were seated. Our waitress followed shortly after. She was attentive, but not annoying and the food was amazing as usual. It’s a little bit on the pricier side, but I don’t mind because everything is top notch!
