About Rosa Mexicano - National Harbor
In 1984, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened on the upper east side of New York City. Playing a leading role in defining what was then a "new" cuisine to American diners, Rosa Mexicano delivers authentic Mexican cooking in an accessible, stylishly festive atmosphere. Rosa Mexicano's menu features a range of award-winning signature dishes, including our Guacamole en Molcajete, in a traditional lava rock mortar. Described by Time Out New York as "green ecstasy in a stone bowl," it is prepared table side and served with house made chips, warm corn tortillas and condiment salsas. Rosa Mexicano is also known for the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, as well as the stylish and festive ambiance that includes an illuminated water wall.

Rosa Mexicano - National Harbor Ratings and Reviews
Overall very disappointing. Not the restaurant I remember.
We ordered the table side guacamole, and to our shock it wasn’t made table side. They just brought it out and put it on our table.
I ordered the stuffed chicken based on other reviews and I was really surprised that it came out dry and cold.
My wife ordered the shrimp quesadilla’s and they were awful. Came to table cold and were very weak. She noted that the Qdoba quesadilla’s are far and away better.
We will not be going back anytime soon.
I was there right on time for my reservation at 7:45 cause I had to be at 9:30 in the fare wheel for a ride that I bought before. The waiter didn’t come until 8pm cause it was so busy and I understand that, but the food took over 1 hr to come to the table and it was horrible; cold and the steak over cooked. Anyways we rushed to eat it (we literally just took a bite and we left). Of course it ruin my date and I missed the rest of my plans cause I got out to late.
This used to be my favorite restaurant I love their guacamole and the service. Definitely not going back anytime soon it makes me sad cause when people use to ask me what was my favorite restaurant I have always said Rosa Mexicano “the one in National Harbor”.
Great place to sit down to eat. Would recommend the medium guacamole if you do get it. Mild tasted somewhat bland, the medium has a bit more flavor.
Avoid the table that is at the corner of the open floor area, foot traffic will surround you from all sides (like you are basically sitting in the middle of a hallway or sidewalk).
Particularly slow service especially when the restaurant was not full. For example, 20-25 minutes after ordering our dessert which had yet to be served, we asked to cancel as we had to head to a show. Our response was actually declined. She brought the dessert, which included barely warm churros. Drink order was also incorrect twice. Food was very good, esp tableside guac, but overpriced unless you need to eat at the National Harbor for an event etc.
The two young ladies at the hostess booth were not welcoming at all. I said hello to them and received a cold look in return. That started the evening off on a bad note. Our server seemed irritated by our questions about food selections. He talked really fast which made it hard for us yo decipher which menu item he was making reference too. Overall it wasn't the worst experience I've had but not anywhere near a 4 star experience. I will not suggest this restaurant to anyone.
My friend and I both tried something new. The food is always good, so we're never disappointed. Yara, our server was AWESOME! Friendly and knowledgeable, but she didn't hover. She was fairly busy, but took time to ensure we were enjoying ourselves (She really worked the whole section like the professional she is!)
Two thumbs up for the experience.
I have been to Rosa Mexicano many times at different locations, and it never disappoints! I came this time for my 21st birthday, and the staff was friendly and gave me complimentary ice cream and tequila! What more could you ask for. Thank you for such a wonderful evening!
Our server, Victor was excellent and very patient! He made good suggestions for drinks and food choices considering that we had some limitations! Food was superb and yum! Drinks were awesome! Desert choice was not that great but that’s ok! Overall an excellent experience! Would definitely go again!
I had lunch during "Restaurant Week", and the selections of appetizers and entrees were minimal, and my choices were very unpleasant to my taste buds. If the purpose of "Restaurant Week" is to highlight their cuisine and possibly lure back new customers, then they should serve their best offerings. And the price of my rather small margarita was $13.50, and was one of the worst ones I have ever tasted.
Nice restaurant, sort of dark as some tables don't have the lamps (near the window) so we had to use our phones to see the menu. Service was great and our waiter was on the ball. Wasn't really fond of the food as mine was tasteless (no seasoning) and wasn't sure if I ever tasted any chicken. Overall, doubt we will go back.
Our first time at any Rosa Mexicano restaurant was great! We did the table side guacamole and it was delicious. I don't care for avocados but the guac was worth overcoming my texture issue with the avocado. Our service was very fast, which might be my only complaint. I love receiving attention but the meal moved so quickly, I felt like we were being rushed. Drinks were good, entrees were delicious. I cannot wait to return!
Went on a Friday night and had nice romantic seats with a view of the capital wheel. The food was tasty however the service was lacking. I really wanted to ask for tortillas with my meal but after the food came the server never came by. I tried to make eye contact and wave several times but he wasn’t paying any attention. After we were done eating and ready for our check he still wouldn’t come by. I had to ask a staff walking by to take our plates and he finally came by.
The guacamole - made at your table - was delicious and the highlight of the meal. Our meal came quickly despite the place was packed. (Definitely make a reservation). We were disappointed with the quality of the chicken served. It tasted like processed meat. If you are looking for a high energy restaurant, this is the place.
Asked for a seat with a good view, they sat us right next to the bathrooms. Waitress only came to our table twice and took 20mins just to bring our drinks. Food did come out exceptionally fast after ordering but meat was very dry as if the meat was already made and sitting out for orders. Not worth the price.
The food was delicious! I have seen reviews that comment on the price, but to us, it is worth it because of the quality of the food. The servers are all extremely polite and helpful and the food was fantastic! We had the tableside guacamole, queso fundido, and the chamorro. Fantastic!!
