Mexican
In 1984, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened on the upper east side of New York City. Playing a leading role in defining what was then a "new" cuisine to American diners, Rosa Mexicano delivers authentic Mexican cooking in an accessible, stylishly festive atmosphere. Rosa Mexicano's menu features a range of award-winning signature dishes, including our Guacamole en Molcajete, in a traditional lava rock mortar. Described by Time Out New York as "green ecstasy in a stone bowl," it is prepared table side and served with house made chips, warm corn tortillas and condiment salsas. Rosa Mexicano is also known for the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, as well as the stylish and festive ambiance that includes an illuminated water wall.

Great experience overall. Guacamole was worth the wait, the service was impeccable and the views of the harbor was amazing. Can’t wait until our next visit.

The server was inattentive, got our order wrong and never checked on us until we were finished. The food was really quite poor quality and very expensive. Additionally, the food came out very quickly. This would normally be a good thing, but it was very spicy and virtually inedible.

Great food and drinks as always. The guac is amazing as were the other recommended dishes. It's a great spot for a business meal, social occasions or family fun.

The restaurant is a little pricey but we kind of already knew this prior to making reservations. The food and drinks were all very good and the service was amazing. My date was brought the wrong entree and didn't even realize this but our server noticed that the wrong dish was brought out shortly after and corrected the entree right away. Both of our entree's were outstanding (including the wrong dish). My guest and I were on a "first" date and unfortunately we were seated next to a table with young kids yielding glowing light sabers and then shortly after a table of 10+ kids/teens were sat next to us so it was very loud and not as romantic as we had hoped but chalked it up to just being a busy Saturday evening. All in all I would go back but if on a date would try to request a quieter section if possible.

Everything was great except we felt super rushed... someone or the other stopping by every few minutes to ask if we were done or needed anything else. We had not even finished appetizers when the dinner appeared. No long lines waiting for tables so rushed service was not justified. NEED TO FIX THIS!

I have been dining at Rosa since the early '80s and have rarely been disappointed. On this visit, I brought my 10 year old granddaughter as a birthday treat. She was thrilled with everything but almost burst when our excellent waiter Roberto arrived with an unexpected birthday dessert complete with candle.

What a class act! I cannot recommend Rosa Mexicano highly enough!

We’ve been to Rosa’s many times since it opened, and while the food is consistently good, the service is as consistently bad. On our most recent visit, there was no single egregious issue (as there has been in the past), but the service was inattentive and excruciatingly slow. It took at least 15 minutes to be served initial beverages, but remarkably, upselling the table side guacamole was very efficient. We saw our server about 3 times during the meal, and had to track him down for refills (water and drinks) and beg for table settings. Food was delicious, but the experience was frustrating as usual. Spoke to a manager on the way out who could not have been less interested. Plenty of other options for dinner; next time we will remember that.

I’ve been here many times before, in addition to the one downtown. The food is good but man is it overpriced! I was willing to deal with this before because it was a classy place but the night we went was just disappointing. The booth we sat in had a huge gash in it, which is okay if I’m eating at a diner but not when I’m paying $12 for a house margarita. The bathrooms - both men’s and women’s - were absolutely gross and you could spell them down the hallway. Service was good - the waiter was very professional and attentive but not super personable. Food and drinks were enjoyable but not enough to carry the experience. With as many upscale restaurants that are available at National Harbor, RM really needs to step up their game!

Always a great time here. If i had 1 ding, it would be the guac. Fresh, but not there best effort. Something was missing in the seasoning. However, wasn't bad enough to complain. All in all, a solid B today. Will continue to visit; be back soon!

First time at this restaurant; we were staying close by at the Gaylord and had a craving for Mexican cuisine. Perfect seating by the window and the table was large enough for us to share our meal. The drinks were great; perfect spice (I love spicy drinks); the service was outstanding and not intrusive. The place was busy and packed, seemed to be a neighborhood gem. Would love to go back again and sit at the bar.

I wish I had an experience to share. I waited 40 minutes for my boyfriend to find parking, but he never did. I regretted buying sangria, even though it was good. I ended up having to leave before even getting to really try the food because he could never park the car. He called the restaurant and they said they would comp my drink, but I had already gotten my check and paid. I'm disappointed in National Harbor that we never got to have our dining experience together, all because they couldn't get their act together with parking.

This was my 3th time going there, this time it was awful. We made reservations for a romantic Valentine’s Day. We waited one hour for our meal. The manager came to apologize because they were busy. He offered to discount our bill. So I can understand they were busy, but when our food came out, it was cold and our main course was the size of appetizers. The fajita had 3 pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of beef finger size pieces. The sauces were hardly one tea spoon. I paid for this $26, way over priced and not enough to fill you up. The chicken Lasagna it was awful too, it was the size of a small pancake, it was $24. We don’t recommend this restaurant.

I’ve been coming here for years and can’t get enough. Lovely decor and the food is always fresh and the margaritas are always perfect. Portion sizes are large enough to share. They definitely don’t skimp on them. It’s always more than enough for my partner and I to split.

Everything was great as per usual..the only complaint that I do have is that I let Open Table and Rosa's know on two separate occasions before the reservation date that it was my boyfriend's 30th birthday and they guaranteed me that he would get the birthday treatment and they completely forgot about it even with the special note and reassurance on their part that they wouldn't. Other than that..great food, service and ambiance.
