I used to be a big fan of this restaurant back when it opened many years ago. I have to say that the food was disappointing as well as the drinks... Go e down hill and no longer quality.
Service was great though
Service was very slow. Bathroom was filthy and food was not worth the price. And the drink was $16 and watered down with ice!! I won't be back.
The only great thing was it was a warm spot on a cold rainy night. The food was fine but ridiculously expensive. The waiter got both our drink and food order wrong and btw, the margarita was 90% ice. Nothing to make up for it, just a crazy high bill for some street tacos and a bowl of corn.
Too many great places in DTLA- we won’t be back.
The food is SO DELICIOUS, however the service is lousy. It's not my first visit to Rosa Mexicano @ LA Live, and each time I've gone, I've hoped that it would get better, but sadly, it will likely be my last visit.... It's so disappointing, I've had other friends who feel the same too, great food, but horrible service. We had a reservation, but upon arrival we waited close 10 min to get sat. Then we waited 10 min to get greeted, at which time we were given 2 water cups, yet there were 3 of us, so we asked for a 3rd glass, which never came (20 minutes later we asked a different server and were given one). When our server finally greeted us, he took a drink order and we ordered some guacamole, and we got the margarita and guacamole within a reasonable time, but then our server didn't come back for our food order for 15 minutes.....he was no where to be found....when our food arrived one of the items was incorrect, it took nearly 10 minutes for our server, or anyone to stop by to see if everything was going well, and I was actively looking for help, numerous staff walked by, avoiding eye contact....when I explained what had happened, he offered to re-make the dish, but we then had to wait a while to get that dish, and we were still charged for it.....it was busy, but there were lots of empty tables, and lots of people working who were moving slowly and inattentive.
I wish the service were even slightly better, perhaps if they had better management, that knew how to train/supervise the front of house staff this place would be one of the best LA restaurants, it has that potential. Instead it feels like a bunch of lazy slow poke college kids who have never been trained, and could care less about giving good service.
The food deserves to be at this price point, but as a customer, you feel taken advantage of in paying the price, when the service is so unaccommodating.
The server was not attentive. The food did not come out for everyone at the same time.
We love Rosa Mexicano ! The guacamole made to order table side is a must! The food is consistently good. The staff is also consistently friendly and the servers are very knowledgeable about the menu. This restaurant hasn’t let us down yet.
Very slow service. Should’ve been much quicker since there a restaurant that is near staples Center and then people are going to the game. Really was annoying
I would never go back to this restaurant. there were so many bad things, culminating I the bad food, that I would NEVER go back
I’ve been going to this restaurant for 8-9 years 2-3 times a year when I’m in LA for fun or business. I’ve always given it straight 5s. Unfortunately they drastically changed their menu, everything I like is gone except the provided chips and salsa. Sadly, that was my last time dining there. Very frustrating. It’s frustrating when I loose a favorite restaurant.
Went for AMAs — Food was good but not enough staff. So the service really suffered. It affected the whole dinner.
Appears to be going out of business.
Service was slow, carnitas had to of been soaked in a salt brine, could not eat it
Just a nice brunch before our long night at the AMA’s
Our waiter was amazing. But there was a bug in our food. When we told him he was very professional and apologized and gave us our entire meal for free. Other than that, great experience.
Second time with this server who seems like she doesn’t want to be there. Tables are so close to each other you can’t have a conversation - you feel as if you are part of the other tables convo.
Felt this way at last visit but wanted to try one more time. No improvement.
Food is good.
Very good food, excellent service, what’s not to like,
Portions were to small (street tacos ) we waited 45 min for our food , two of my kids got their food first , 5min later the third one ,then my husband last myself , I ordered pollo con mole ,
My chicken was not fully cooked I had to send it back ..
I will never go back ..
$180 bill for a horrible meal .
Floors in restaurant were dirty, homeless person drinking from the water bottles at outside tables, allowed a kid to come into the restaurant and sell candy bars. Service was not good at all, employees hanging in the hallway kitchen area all laughing and doing their own thing. I never leave reviews like this but considering the total we paid I feel this is extremely necessary for anyone else stumbling upon this restaurant. The food was great unfortunately service and cleanliness was extremely lacking.
Delicious drinks and great service
Good food and ambience but service team a bit overwhelmed and spotty
I took my little brother and his girlfriend for both their birthdays and they absolutely loved it. It was their first time there and enjoyed it. Steven was our waiter and he made sure we were well taken care of and did an amazing job. We will definitely come back!!! If you want upscale mexican food at good price plus nice area then this is where u need to come
Food was tasteless and expensive, your really just paying for the ambiance. The presentation of the food was great just didn’t taste as it looked. The waiter was to busy with others. Overall wouldn’t return.
Awesome Guacamole! The food was great. The hostess took seated us ahead of our reservation. It was very lively with a sporting event happening next door.
While we enjoyed the food, and have dined at Rosa Mexicano many times, the service was absolutely horrible. We waited 10-15 minutes before our waiter finally showed up, and this was only after we asked the wait staff to find him. We were given water, but had to request everything else, like chips and salsa. When the waiter came we gave him our drink order and then waited and waited and waited, asking him multiple times about the status of our drinks until we finally went to the bar and got them ourselves. It was close to an hour from the time we arrived until we received our food. I spoke to the manager who agreed that this was unacceptable and compensated us for our dinner.
It took more than an hour to get even our starters. When our food arrived, it was ice cold.
Also, ignored the birthday they were told about.
The place is nicely decorated and laid out. Drinks were ok. But the food was poor and the service was nonexistent. Terrible and I won’t be back!
My husband and I ate here before we attended a show at the Nova on a Friday night to kick off our anniversary weekend. Our reservation was at 5:30. We arrived at 5:15 and were immediately seated, since it was early and not too crowded. Our server Ara was very attentive and friendly, assisting us with what ended up being great recommendations on our food and drink selections, and stopping in throughout our meal to check on us to make sure we had what we needed. We ordered soup to start, spicy freshly made guacamole with chips, the enchiladas trio, and the roasted pork shank with tortillas, rice, and beans. For drinks my husband had a flight of mezcal and I had the house margaritas with tequila and chile salt on the rim. Everything had a nice presentation and was as tasty and savory as it looked. The margarita was of good quality as well (no cheap alcohol or mixers here). We were more than satisfied at the end of our meal and had to box up some to take home. Then we were surprised by Aro with a large slice of delicious tres leches cake with some extra tres leches on the side in honor of our anniversary, followed by two glasses of port, poured by the general manager, Jaco, who also wished us a happy anniversary and thanked us for coming to celebrate there. The port paired so well with the cake, as it had fruity and nutty flavor like raisins and pecans or walnuts. We are so grateful for how wonderful and special our meal and time was there. We'd definitely recommend it to others.
OMG. The worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.!!
I’ve been to Rosa’s in the past and it was quite delightful. Obviously, things have changed. The menu has been paired down and now exists of only a few expensive items. Most traditional items have been removed. I ordered short ribs, usually a favorite, and a frozen margarita with no salt. The waiter, clearly with a hearing problem, brought a pomegranate margarita. I returned it and said I want a regular frozen margarita. He then brought a margarita on the rocks with salt. I returned it and said I want a regular frozen margarita. 15 minutes later he brought the margarita and, what I could only assume was the short rib. To my complete shock, I saw a block of what looked like charred wood attached to a bone drowned in some red sauce. No rice, no beans, no nothing. I cut into the entrée and, sure enough, it tasted like charred wood!
I told the person I was dining with, and our waiter, that this was worse than food you get on an airplane. I was told by the waiter that they definitely had made changes to the restaurant. Judging by this meal and the small amount of people in attendance, I give this restaurant one more month And then it will be gone.
This place has decline in quality and services since its original opening. The food quality has changed and you no longer get that "personal" restaurant feel. It use to be black beans, not its re fried pinto beans. They use to serve fresh white rice, now its cheaper orange rice. The food quantity size has reduced and there is no joy in serving customers anymore. It not has the feel of "corporate purchased" franchise. Its the reality of the food industry unfortunately
The service wasn’t that great, and the food was average. Beware that although this is a Mexican restaurant you won’t find the usual offerings. The best thing was the table side guacamole. We ended up here because it was one of the only restaurants in the LA Live area that was still taking reservations for the night/time we were down there. If there are other options available pick one of them.
Service was extremely slow for lunch. They didn’t ask if we were on a timeline for business like many places will do. The server kept disappearing for long stretches of time. Asked for the check and had to ask for it again.
Excellent food and service. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food came out quick and hot. Definitely recommend to others visiting staples center area
Restaurant is dirty, in desperate need of a remodel, manager was rude, ineffective and unprofessional. Guac was quite good.
The food here is always excellent. They've changed the menu, highlighting tastes around the various regions of Mexico, but the food is as outstanding as ever. The staff and host/hostess station are also friendly and responsive.
Our server was excellent, and the food was wonderful.
Avoid! We have eaten here a number of times before Kong’s games, but never again after most recent experience. Restaurant was NOT packed.
Took 15 minutes before anyone came to our table.
Took over 30 min from time of ordering to when food came out.
$14.50 for three tiny tacos? Total rip off.
Quick meal before the Clippers game.
We waited for over an hour and the food never came. It took 45 mins to get a drink. We finally gave up and left. Kids were starving and angry!
Service was the worst ever . I ordered a regular ice t and the gave me one with a load of alcohol, I’m a recovering alcoholic so that just made my hole night horrible . My waitress never even came back to ask how everything went . The restaurant wasn’t even that packed so I don’t know why my waitress was to busy to check in on my table . Also the food was a lil subpar I’ve been to this location many time , this time was just the worst not sure if I’ll be back
There was no hostess when we arrived. Finally when she showed up, she sat us at a booth where we waited over 5 minutes to be greeted by our server.
Loud, with very slow service. Not worth the high prices. Only the margaritas were good, but also expensive.
