Rosa Mexicano - DC Ratings and Reviews
I was pleased to get a reservation right after our event at Capital One Arena. Booked the reservation just an hour ahead while sitting in the arena. I thought the prices seemed extremely reasonable considering the location. The food was pretty good. It’s a little nicer than our average Mexican restaurant and had its own take on some of the meals which was nice. My only complaint was my skirt steak was a little tough
We love Rosa Mexicana! The guac is always great, and the tacos are very tasty. I love the real corn tortillas. The margaritas are very good, too. The service is fast, makes it good for pre-theatre in Penn Quarter. And they are open after the theatre, too for great desserts.
It was a busy Friday, with event across the street at the arena, but online reservation worked. Busy, lively atmosphere. Cocktails were satisfying, with a broad assortment of margaritas and beer. Service was attentive and helpful at all times without being intrusive. Guacamole is handmade at your table and outstanding. A must! Our dinners were good portions and drew raves. I had the Tres enchiladas, and the sauces were the best I have had anywhere. Will definitely be returning.
It was difficult to navigate the menu with my dietary restrictions but I was able to find something I could eat and it was delicious! My husband liked his meal as well. Water cups were a little crusty and dirty but service was great and everything else went very well.
Rosa Mexicano is our go-to restaurant for Mexican when visiting DC. The place is amazing and the food is to die for!! We especially enjoy when the kids work with the staff for the guacamole appetizer (my daughter is 16 and still looks forward to this). Remember to make reservations though... it is very busy!
Arrived early for our reservation but we were seated immediately. Waiter was a little quirky. He "explained" the menu to us which we didn't need. We expected him to ask if we wanted cocktails (which we did) but he didn't do so until 5 minutes later. Another waiter tried to put a bowl of gaucamole in front of us when we hadn't yet ordered. After that, everything went smoothly. The drinks were good. My dish, Pescado Primavera, fish w/veggies topped with shrimp and mushrooms, was excellent. The fist was hot and cooked perfectly. My wife had the Alambre a la Mexicana, skewered filet mignon and chorizo. She gave it a good. Not a rave review though she did find the accompaniments quite appealing
Great location, decor and friendly service at the front desk. The food was mediocre for the price and our waiter was really inattentive. I recommend trying their location at the National Harbor if this restaurant is a must for you. The service and food were both much better. This was surprising to me, as I expected the Penn Quarter location to be much more popular.
Hmm well I made a reservation for two, got sat by the small bar which got packed fast and spilled over into our table. Food was average "Mole Enchilada", look good but taste was bland. needed flavor to enhance the chocolate. Drinks we great. Service was great. not so much on table or food... A bit Pricey, Take away container could have been improved with a piece of parchment. I am very disappointed.. :(
Rosa Mexicano was a good choice for us as a pre-theater dinner. It is a convenient location not only for the theater but for a night out on the town. Good Mexican whether you are looking for meat, fowl or fish. There was a nice mix of spices to provide the right "heat". You also might want to try the fresh guacamole. I really enjoyed the flan for desert; give it a try! Overall, good food for a reasonable price & I'm a hard grader.
