The salmon was on the dry side and the relleno was different than expected. I thought it would be stuffed with the fruit listed on the menu and it was all ground up. It was so-so. Usually they make the guacamole by the table but they didn’t this time. We wanted it medium spiced, but it was more tasteless.
The waiter was nice. We always like to eat here when in town. The place looks a bit tired.
Try the budín de pollo and the tres leches cake. I wanted seconds of both.
Excellent meal on the featured menu highlighting the cuisine of Puebla. The menu offered 7 different light courses, perfect for sharing between two, as well as a featured cocktail and two mezcal shots. The price and size allowed the two of us to order literally one each of everything on the menu (okay, two soups and two of the cocktails), including the mezcal shots, for a filling but not overstuffed meal. The food was all excellent--not a failure in the bunch--and we salute Rosa Mexicano for the concept as well as the quality!
Great brunch great experience the manager Rebeca was really nice and helpful as well we cannot wait to go back
The hostess was extremely rude to an employee. She yelled at the waiter to get a to go box for a customer and called him a stupid idiot. It was completely unacceptable.
Fire alarm was going off during the first half of our dinner. Noise level in general was way too high. Wait staff never offered to refill our drinks.
The food was just okay, most of them unsalted, arrechera steak was good and the dessert pudding was good. Service very slow. Our server made a mistake with our order. I explained 3 times what we ordered and he keeping brought food that we hadn't ordered. In the end, the manager and server were very apologetic for the confusion.
Noisy as there was a capitals match
Overall the food was okay was not blown away.
Terrible! So disappointed. Use to really like this restaurant.
Way to spicy and bad service.
The food was amazing and great service
It was a very nice experience! Love love love their salmon!
Excellent as usual.
The service was really not what I expected. The first server give me this look when I’m sitting in a square table, and I was like , um, the receptionist put me here🙄. Then she keep asking me to order expensive drinks. When I ask her for suggestion for menu, she said this is a Mexican restaurant (um, I’m pretty sure I know that based on the name of this restaurant 🙄) and suggest expensive dishes. I’m not sure if she is like this because she want a bigger tip but if your service is poor, I don’t think you will get much tip anyway;/
The other guy is much better and friendlier and I try to ask for him for the rest of my meal. But her horrible service is what make me to never come here again.
After we were seated we waited 10-15 minutes for anyone to show up to take our drink order. When no one did we asked a server who our waiter was. He pointed at a waitress and said it was her. He then asked her to come to our table. She came over clearly put out and said "Yes?"...and we said we were hoping to put in our drink order. She took our order but we waited quite a while and no one came. Then another waiter arrived to take our drink order about 10 minutes later. He retook our drink order and took care of us the rest of the evening. But we were confused what we had done wrong. It was a weird experience. Both of us are in the service industry and try our best to be respectful of staff, but the service was just poor and the restaurant was not busy.
Honestly, super disappointed. The manager walked around constantly checking on tables but not saying anything, the servers were quiet and rarely checked on you, the ambiance was sub par & the food wasn’t worth the price.
I hope this is helpful for folks because I’ve never left a review for a restaurant until now.
I was looking forward to trying this place out as I've never been....well worth it!!! Get the Guac!
Great place for celiacs; the service was great specially for a big group (the manage to separate checks and have us order whatever we want instead of fixed menus as in other restaurants)
Noise level very high!
When you make a reservation, you should be able to be seated within 10 minutes at the most! We waited 1/2 hr. Stop cramming in tables so you can make more $$!! Way too crowded! Food is still good - service OK.
It was a birthday celebration
Family dinner before a Wizards game at the Capital One Arena.
The host was friendly and inviting but service pretty much stopped there. Have no idea who our server actually was and the service was very slow. To be fair, it was after 9pm so we are hoping it was simply due to short staffing. The food was very good and we will definitely return.
While pleasant, our server did not place the order as we requested it. Instead he ordered what he felt we would want and was only mildly apologetic about it. For example, my boyfriend wanted a double order of their vegan tacos. It’s what we ordered and I double checked to make sure our server had recorded everything we wanted accurately. However, when the food arrived, items were missing. When he returned to the table, we asked if he rang the additional taco order in and he replied “no I did not” which (in my opinion) wasn’t his call to make.
Overall, the evening was lovely and the food was delicious. We’ll definitely return. I’ll just ensure that everything we order makes it to the table next go ‘round.
We love Rosa and go there often before/after Capitals games. Everything is usually consistently good but our experience this time was was a little different. The table cloth and window shade was dirty, spattered with dried food stains. The menu was inflexible i.e. if you are getting 3 street tacos, why can’t you choose three different tacos, why do they all have to be the same? The waiter seemed disinterested. The guacamole was GREAT. A young lady with long dark hair (didn’t get her name) made great guacamole.
The restaurant was quite dirty, especially the floor was full of chips. The colleagues at the entrance haven’t been too friendly. The food was ok, not more than that.
The only good point to mention is the location of the restaurant, which was very central.
Be sure to order the Guac, prepared at your table!
Poor service, you practically had to chase down the waitress
The service and the food was good. I got the Hongos tacos that were a bit spicy but overall good.
This place has gone down hill, table side guacamole wasn’t done table side. The carnitas was very dry and not cheap$28.00, drinks were inconsistent, we were looking forward to it since we had eaten at Rosa before. We will not return.
When we walked in there was a man asking for money at the hostess stand and was aggressive. The police were called and he was removed immediately. The waitress was so nice but she didn’t come back much so we needed a drink for quite awhile and our table wasn’t cleared from
Appetizer to main meal. They were busier than usual so this could have been the reason. Other than that it was good.
Our service was really lacking. We had to ask for utensils after being seated for 15 minutes with food in front of us. Our waiter rarely checked on us. Have been there a few times, the service is usually their downfall. This was the worst yet. Food is good, but not worth it.
We went the night of a hockey game so before the game it was bedlam. Despite the crowd, we were seated promptly and service was excellent. Food was very good - my only complaint is that I didn’t expect the flautas to be SOOO spicy—a warning from the waiter or the menu would have been welcome. After the game started the noise level was perfectly acceptable.
Atmosphere was nice. Homemade guacamole was delicious. Service was good.
So disappointed with the shrimp street tacos. No flavor, no spice, nothing but small plain shrimp and cabbage
Alex was a great server!!!
I haven’t been here in awhile but was not impressed. As we sat down we noticed that the glasses were all dirty. Not a good first impression. The guacamole and queso appetizers were all excellent. The meal I ordered did not specify that it was spicy- and it was so hot I could not eat it, I barely touched it and the waiter only said sorry. After we got our meal we were not checked on for a long time. Our server seemed extremely busy and I actually felt bad for him but felt bad for us too. 3 out of the 4 us did not like our meal. The chili rellenos were way too spicy, the filet and chorizo was loaded with rice and barely any meat. So sad that there was not any attention to the details of our Christmas dinner and the restaurant seems like it went downhill. The table was dirty upon us sitting, the floors had food all over them and the bathrooms were disgusting.
Great food, small portions. Tables to close to each other.
Did not love it. My cousin’s water cup had a lipstick stain on it, and my margarita glass was not clean. I order enchiladas, they served 3 different enchiladas together, they looked beautiful but flavor wise I was not impressed. Service was good and the guacamole they prepare it in front of you.
The wall is cover with tiny little guys “flying” we later figure out it must have been some sort of fountain gone-wrong. What’s up with that?!
The best thing about this place is the location... :(
This is the second year we dined at Rosa on Christmas day and both times were excellent.
We enjoyed a great dinner on Christmas eve, with tasty margaritas and well prepared, delicious food.
I ordered the Alambre Del Mar with shrimp - very good! My husband ordered Budín De Pollo which was also very good.
Our thanks to the staff who were gracious and professional.
