About Rosa Mexicano by Lincoln Center
Our highly anticipated second Rosa Mexicano location opened in July 2000. Just steps away from Lincoln Center, this impressive David Rockwell-designed space features a 30-foot iridescent blue tile water wall that spans both levels of the restaurant and is adorned with 240 miniature cliff divers. Here you’ll also find a dramatic “floating” staircase made of orange and red terrazzo slabs and backlit panels behind the bar embedded with rose petals. Rosa Mexicano by Lincoln Center Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely horrible. We were attending a conference across the street (world business forum) and I had made a reservation in advance. We were at the restaurant for an hour and a half and our food never came. We ended up having to leave without eating and went back to our conference hungry. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
Nice place before going to Lincoln Center. I had dinner with a dear friend. The food was excellent large portions, tasty, authentic. The service was a little slow and we did not get any attention after the food was served. The table side guacamole is a must.
Food was totally cold and the mushroom tacos had one piece of mushroom and not tasty. The onion was raw. Not good taste. Overall food was not good. Pricey for what it was. Disappointing
Very crowded The server was extremely nice and did a great job
Margaritas were not so good
Absolutely LOVE Rosa Mexicano!!! Have been to this location a few times as well as the union square location and can't get enough. My boyfriend and I love to come here to celebrate our anniversary, birthdays - whatever excuse we can think of. Food and drinks are great, everything is fresh and authentic, SUPER tasty! A bit on the pricey side, but not too bad. And it's worth every penny.
RM is a friendly, lively venue. It is a chain, so the food is not gourmet, but it is passable. The servers are the best. They are attentive, professional, energetic and work hard to accommodate guests.
Our drinks arrived quickly. There were 6 of us; sharing a sort of reunion evening, since 4 of us had gone to high school together 50+ years ago and made arrangements to meet in the city. We wanted somewhere casual so we could talk and laugh. RM filled the bill.
Even though catching up with each other was or priority, the servers kept our dinner courses coming in a timely manner. As did queries about second drinks.
Of course, there is no better tableside prepared fresh guacamole than at RM. Delish !!!!
Rosa Mexicano’s location is excellent! Just across Lincoln Center.....great before your show. We had dinner there, food and service were very good and because is so close to the teather we had plenty of time to enjoy ourselves. Make sure you have reservations....it was busy....glad the restaurant honor ours even though we were a bit late....😬 good place to have a nice dinner!
Many dishes are rather bland and overpriced for what you get. Avoid the enchiladas. The prepared at the table guacamole IS justifiably their most popular item. And the churros as a dessert at the end are excellent. A lot of the main courses disappoint. The main attraction of this particular Rosa Mexicano is that it's virtually across the street from Lincoln Center, so it's very convenient prior to the opera, concert or ballet. Tends to be very noisy when at its busiest.
Rosa Mexicano is right across from Lincoln Center, so from a location standpoint it is a great pre-theatre/concert/ballet/opera option. With plenty of seating, there is a good chance of booking a table even at a busy time. The trade off is that the rather standard Mexican food, while competent and fresh, is overpriced and there are few salad options. I can recommend the guacamole and my son enjoyed the skirt steak. Service was prompt and courteous.
I have been to the Rosa Mexicanos in Cancun and Miami and love them both. New York’s doesn’t disappoint: Great location, good food and excellent, friendly service. The guacamole, prepared alongside our table, was great!
The setting is elegant without being stuffy, and yes, you can carry on a conversation without having to raise your voice. I recommend it and will go back. But don’t forget to make a reservation. You won’t get in without it;)
Although a bit on the noisy side, it is a very festive atmosphere with sincerely good service - and the food is always delicious. A very nice place to enjoy a dinner out in the neighborhood before a concert at Lincoln Center - and the margaritas are excellent!
Had a post-concert late dinner at Rosa Mexicano across from Lincoln Center. Location is terrific, and if you're seated at a window upstairs (or, seated outside) you have a nice view of New York life around LC. The table-side-made guacamole was excellent. Enchiladas, tacos and a dish called "Budin de Pollo" were all very good. We ordered a pitcher of sangria which was just OK, but we've had the Frozen Pomegranate margarita on previous visits, and it is great. Overall, a nice relaxed place to eat Mexican food with friends. And the decor of the restaurant is really interesting too.
The interior restaurant was very noisy and busy for a Thursday night, but we asked for a table outside which, even with NYC traffic on Columbus Avenue, was quieter and on a warm evening turned out to be the perfect "Autumn in New York" event dining.
After a rather long interval being initially ignored with menus on our table, we caught our waiter's attention and received fairly attentive service. Food is terrific!
I love this restaurant. ! I have lived in the neighborhood for 35 years and this has been my favorite for as long as it has been here. It is busy busy ....so make a reservation. Aside from the great food, the people who work here are the best ! So nice and always accommodating. That’s a rarity in NYC so I really appreciate a restaurant where the people who work there go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. It is my “go to “ restaurant and I have never been disappointed. Enjoy ! It’s great !
Food was delicious as were the cocktails. Waiters and staff were very friendly and attentive to detail. I was there from Ireland for my nieces birthday and it was a lovely evening! We arrived early for our reservation and there was no problem with getting our table immediately.
If you go, be sure to sit upstairs if you want to have a conversation. The noise from the bar downstairs is deafening. We had delicious food and terrific service upstairs. For the neighborhood, very reasonably priced. Try the margherita la Unica, chamorro, and the enchiladas. The ceviche de camarones was just ok.
