Great meal. Guacamole was amazzzzzzing. Stayed and talked for a while. Nice experience.
Service was super. Margaritas are the best. Atmosphere is very loud- more than vibrant. It’s hard to hear your table mates.
On April 19, 2018, we enjoyed a delicious feast at Rosa Mexicano to celebrate Diaon for successfully defending her dissertation! Congratulations to Diaon Clarke, PhD, LCSW-R!!!
It was good not great
We used to love this restaurant but it has been declining in quality and service over the last few years. Now the food is quite ordinary, the service is not what it used to be and the place is much too noisy.
I had a reservation yet had to stand for 20 minutes before being seated.
The main course was only lukewarm but I did not have the time to have it sent back. The restaurant tried to do too much, serve too many people. As a result the overall service is poor. There are many better Mexican restaurants in ny at this price level
Since I made a reservation, I expected a decent table, instead we were seated upstairs all the way in the back and next to a very loud two table, we just wanted a few Apps since we were heading to a show, the table selection would have been a non issue if we had been wowed by the food; I ordered the Guacamole, half of the avocados were not even mashed..........we have been regular customers of Rosa Mexicano and normally love it, so we were disappointed and hope that quality control is brought back and its great food restored; the Chorizo con Queso was also disappointing, too thick and where was the Chorizo? Ah it was grated!
For us it has always been the ideal place to dine before catching a performance at L.C.
We enjoyed our pre-opera meal very much. Service was great, food was mostly delicious. One of our parties skirt steak was a little tough, but overall very good meal. Our server was attentive, friendly and fast!
Margaritas were delicious. So was the table side guacamole. The pollo adobado was overcooked. It had good flavor but the chicken was too dry. My friend had the budín and looked great. She said it was tasty. The Mexican chocolate ice cream was very tasty.
Delicious food, freshly made guacamole, and pomegranate margaritas are a must.
We've eaten at various Rosa Mexicana locations over the years and I must say the one by Lincoln Center was the most disappointing. To be fair, the cocktails and guacamole were delicious but after that it was down hill. We had the empanadas. There was basically no chicken inside the dough. We had the steak which was tasty but difficult to eat because it was so tough. Service was good. The atmosphere was casual and fun.
We had a great meal. As usual, I ordered the always perfect, table-side guacamole, followed by the enchiladas suizas, which are always wonderful. A tasty mojito rounded out the meal. No complaints at all! Will be back!
Best Gucamole. Caters to various food needs such as gluten free. Location is ideal for lunch before Lincoln Center matinees.
Although I love this restaurant, and gave it a very good rating, I was very upset to see the B rating when I got there! Also, although someone in my party had already been seated upstairs, as requested, the man at the front told me and a friend who had gotten there shortly before me they had no reservation in my name! Finally, the woman told me she found it! Not good!!!
Nice place. Good food. Close to Lincoln Center. Something different.
Our family of adults met for ”Pre-theater” dining before one of the NY Philharmonic’s live scores to an epic movie (in this case Amadeus) across the street at David Geffen Hall with an early curtain. They did a fantastic job of getting us drinks and food, and quickly in and out, with people showing up at three different times, and both seated and accepted our Key Man’s order of guacamole for the table (made fresh in front of him) without all of us being present . Kudos for that! Our very professional server also let him order for our fourth and late arrival, and got us out in time. The food was delicious and devoured accordingly.
We were seeing My Fair Lady at Lincoln Center and we picked this restaurant for our pre-theatre lunch. The food was very good..the guacamole made at the table was delicious and everyone enjoyed their entrees!
Great table-made Guac. Delicious tacos! Good service.
This is great restaurant for any occasion. It is adaptable always to birthdays, regular dinners, happy hours etc. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to eat Mexican food.
Best Mexican food in town!
This is a lovely restaurant. We prefer to be seated upstairs where you can look out at Lincoln Center and watch people going by. Seating (with reservation) was prompt. Wait staff quick and very accommodating. Each couple ordered their own guacamole: Our friends came without ramped up spicing, as requested. Ours was medium and could have been still spicier. Ditto on salsa. A friend and I each had skewered filet mignon. It was perfect. The steak was very, very tender and cooked medium rare (not medium!) as I requested. My husband had the pollack and it was the sole disappointment. Relatively spiceless and not at all fresh tasting. Didn't taste the other friend's dish. Chips and salsa and water replaced before we even asked. I had flan for dessert--excellent. To my mind the chocolate cake was too heavy, but I always find it too heavy. But the flavor was excellent.
A definite keeper.
The waitress was very attentive at the table. She was kind and personable.
Not the best dining, but in fairness we were there at a peak time. Besides that, the food was bland. I remember much better dishes from RM. Not this time. I think we had a bad day. Staff were great all around.
This place never disappoints. Great high end Mexican food.
Good food and service, very loud.
Food good but too noisy
Never been to a Mexican restaurant before with such a good wine list, extensive menu of well prepared dishes, and great cocktail menu. Service excellent too.
We have eaten brunch/lunch here many times l. Service very accommodating. My friends enjoyed their meals however my eggs Benedict were just so so. The cornmeal cake was dry. Margaritas fabulous.
Location is right near Lincoln Center and really good food. Service was prompt and courteous. Pomegranate margarita was fabulous (and I am usually a purist about margaritas!) tables were not too close together so the noise level was fine, not exactly hushed but perfectly fine. They brought a great coconut cake for my friends’s birthday. Overall very nice and better than I remembered from my last visit.
Great food and service. Congested wait for a table in the ground floor. The place is jumping!!!
We very much appreciated that the host asked about our curtain time, so we had a wonderful meal that was served promptly. The service was great and the mojito was terrific!
We had to wait for 15 min for the table even with the reservation. Hostesses were not friendly.
Food was great and our server was wonderful.
I usually enjoy this location, especially right before going to an opera or ballet performance. Unfortunately this time, even after making reservation three days in advance we were waiting for 30 min for the table in overcrowded area near the bar. The saddest part of it the stuff wasn’t even apologetic or accommodating us in any way. It was not very pleasant experience this time.

First time at this place last night due to waiting too long to make a pre-opera reservation near Lincoln Center. What a pleasant surprise. We didn't have time for drinks, but the Guacamole hand-made at our table was perfect as were the entrees, a Chile Poblano Relleno (for my wife) and a Rollo de Pechuga (crispy, stuffed chicken breast) for me. Finished off the meal with an excellent double espresso and an oder of five perfectly prepared Churros with milk chocolate, dark chocolate and raspberry dipping sauces. Prices are a bit on the high side, but the food is wonderful and service is terrific. Definitely will be back for brunch or dinner even if we don't have other plans in the area.
Food was ok. They make the guacamole at the table which they tout as a big selling point. Unfortunately it’s pretty bad guacamole. Saltless and virtually tasteless. We asked for it spicy and it was bland. Beef tacos are just a lump of shredded meat plopped in the flour tortilla. Margarita good but it’s made from a mix so how can you get it wrong...? I feel this place is overrated. I won’t go back.
Arrived somewhat late kitchen was closing service was rushed and quality of food has declined since I was last there.
We enjoy eating at this chain. The food is consistently good and my wife loves the table side fresh guacamole. Nice place to eat.
Rosa Mexicano is consistent and overall a "good" restaurant. The other night, the check-in process was understaffed and chaotic. It occurs on the ground floor very close to the entrance and the very crowded and noisy bar with insufficient room to handle the crowds. Those with and without reservations had to wait in line together, which just delayed those with reservations, like us, from being seated. When I finally was helped by the one person at the desk, I was sent upstairs which is where almost all people with reservations go. There, the one person manning the desk took forever to find my reservation and seemed to doubt that I had one, even though the person downstairs had already found it.
Upstairs is generally less noisy than downstairs; but that is the difference between very noisy and totally unbearable.
A few items on the menu, such as the made-at-the-table (usually) guacamole, are very good. Most of the food is just "good" at best.
It is popular because it isn't extravagant, and in the Lincoln Center location, it is convenient for those attending events.
Would I recommend it - yes, with caveats;
Would I recommend it highly - no.
