About Rosa Mexicano by Lincoln Center
Our highly anticipated second Rosa Mexicano location opened in July 2000. Just steps away from Lincoln Center, this impressive David Rockwell-designed space features a 30-foot iridescent blue tile water wall that spans both levels of the restaurant and is adorned with 240 miniature cliff divers. Here you’ll also find a dramatic “floating” staircase made of orange and red terrazzo slabs and backlit panels behind the bar embedded with rose petals. Rosa Mexicano by Lincoln Center Ratings and Reviews
I have always been a great fan of Rosa’s but this experience was disappointing . The server was taking drink orders while half of the guests were not quite settled. After feeling rushed then the service became slow. When the food finally arrived it was tepid in temperatures and the chicken was dry and tough. The churros we ordered for dessert were raw. Finally the room temperature was so cold we were eat with our coats on. Would not return to this Rosa Mexicano any time soon. Love the location on First Avenue .
For the first time, was very disappointed in the food at Rosa Mexicano Lincoln Center. The pork shank was dry and flavorless, the chile relleno tasted off (perhaps the goat cheese wasn't at its best), and the rice and beans on the side featured undercooked rice that was literally crunchy. The hostess was very nice, but our waiter wasn't the most friendly.
Incredibly disappointed by this meal. The waiter got one order wrong and idd not replace it with the correct dish. He had to be told three times about a drink order. He took the water pitcher away without returning with it filled. The food was overly salty. The tres leches was not edible to the two who ordered it and was not how it used to be prepared at the restaurant. I will not return here and discourage others from trying it.
I've been going to Rosa Mexicano for over 20 years. I love this location (Lincoln Center) for pre-theater dinner. It's perfect for people going to Broadway or to the Lincoln Center theaters. The table-side guacamole is always delicious, and people who see it for the first time always enjoy it. Their entrees remain delicious. And while I am usually full for dessert, we always find a way to order a plate of churros for the table and split them. The wait staff were attentive and not intrusive. The margaritas were delicious. It's a perfect place for a pre-theater dinner, and when I've let them know I need to be out by a certain time, they have always made it happen.
Haven’t been in a long time but wasn’t disappointed. Of course everyone must get the guacamole, made fresh and delicious. I ordered off the restaurant week menu. Cauliflower soup was great. Had the chicken and shrimp over mushroom rice and ordered a side of plantains. It was very good , but too much sauce and not enough rice. My friend had the chicken dish off the regular menu ( sort of a layered stew) also delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal along with my margaritas! The flan was as smooth and sweet as heaven! Service was really excellent! Will be back!
The special request I did was to have a cocktail waiting for my fiancé at the table , management did a great job with that great job from the management team I just feel like the attention to detail coming from the service staff could be better and I’m sure will improve. Remember Guest request are always first ( the Guest is always first )
I went to this restaurant to meet a friend for dinner and then go to the ballet. I checked in early and was taken to my table. My friend came after and communicated with the host that he was there with me. However, they sat him in another table and we never got a chance to see each other. He checked with the staff and so did I as to our whereabouts but no one had no idea that either one of us were in the restaurant. Turned out we were both there but we never got together. He did forget his cell phone but terrible communication with staff!
Great celebration of my birthday with a group of friends. We had noted in our reservation that the dinner was for a birthday, and we were seated at a special table in the corner with a spectacular view.
Note re. ordering steak: it was delicious, but quite rare. If you are concerned about under-cooked meat, make sure to order your steak "medium."
As many always comment: do not miss the tableside guacamole!
I have been dining here for about 10 years, and the food and service have remained consistently excellent. The pomegranate margaritas are as delicious and strong as ever. The guacamole and salsa accompanying warm, crispy tortilla chips is a wonderful starter. Out shrimp and chicken main courses were really tasty. The corn side dish is unique. Service was attentive and friendly as always. I have been to the other branches in Manhattan, and this location is clearly the best for food, service, and ambience.
Asked for general manager 3 times because I wanted to say hi- former employee of his. No one got him. Waited 25 minutes for initial drink order, had 4 different servers that all seemed to be confused as to who had our table. All of our share plates were dirty with crusted food. Pre-sets for steak, none existent. Hostess upstairs with gentlemen rolled her eyes when I asked for manager. Overall- I'm shocked this location was as terrible as it was. The one on 1st avenue is our go to and way better.
Situated directly across the street from Lincoln Center, Rosa Mexicano has decent food, served by an efficient, amiable staff. Those portions of the second-floor dining room which are near the open, spectacularly decorated stairway leading from the first-floor bar can be very noisy. Other tables are much less noisy, but do not have a view of Lincoln Center. The food us exactly what you'd expect from a chain restaurant. They have a lengthy drinks list, make good guacamole, and serve undistinguished Mexican food. However, the price is relatively modest for the neighborhood and, because of its proximity to the theaters and speedy service, you'll have no anxiety about making your curtain---even if they keep you waiting 5-10 minutes for the table you reserved to become available.
