   Service ridiculously slow and inattentive. Glasses not refilled, no checking on meal or needs. And food was not the best Mexican I’ve ever had, and dishes not served hot. The drinks were pretty decent, however.

    I ordered the ahi tuna tacos from the “Tacos” section of the menu, and what arrived were 4 tiny, one-bite size pieces. They were tasty enough, but could not reasonably be considered an order of tacos by any definition, and certainly were not a satisfying dinner. Definitely seemed much more like an appetizer. Very disappointing. If they had been described accurately on the menu I would have ordered something else.

    Chicken in tacos was unflavored rubbery and inedible. The guacamole cart and restaurant in general looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The restaurant has really gone down hill.

    Dined on a Friday night with less than an hour to get to the ballet at Lincoln Center just across the street. We showed up 15 min early for our reservation & we were seated practically right away. Our server, David O., was excellent. He was very attentive, helpful, and friendly. The guacamole was perfect & a very generous amount from 1 avocado. We are dairy free & pescatarian, so went with the ceviche tasting which was absolutely terrific. We also shared the ahi tuna tacos (great) and the shrimp tempura tacos (a standout in an overall exceptional meal). We’d been here before, but not in a long time & not since before the pandemic. As lovers of the arts who are just getting back to more regularly attending performances at Lincoln Center post-pandemic, this will definitely be a reliable “go to” restaurant for us.

    We had a reservation at 6.45PM When my friend and I arrived at 6.45PM sharp we were told we’d have to wait at least ~20 minutes to be seated because people were finishing their dinner slowly. That’s unacceptable. We were on a tight schedule and so we left. What’s the point of taking reservations if you can’t promise them in the end? Disappointing

    Rosa Mexicano is always the perfect restaurant for dinner before a performance at Lincoln Center. It's right across the street, the food is excellent and they get you out on time. We happened to be there during restaurant week and ordered from that menu (just a limited version of their regular menu) so the cost was very reasonable. The shrimp ceviche was creative (the best we've had) and the tampiquena tender and very flavorful. We will certainly go back.

    I have been going to Rosa Mexicano for many years. The food is very good and the menu is fairly extensive. I appreciate that there are vegetarians and gluten-free options. One negative: the service now is not as good as it was in the past.

    My husband and I dined here at 6pm on 1/17. We had a reservation. It was pretty much a disaster from the moment we arrived. We waited 30 mins for a table, initially we were told they had no bar to wait in?! Really? I had dined here before so I knew better then the host confessed he was new and didn't know. The service was deplorable from start to finish. The only thing we ate that was decent were the guacamole and chips. My margarita was pure water, everything moved in 20-30 min increments. The drinks took 30 mins, then our waitress came 30 mins after that for the order... you get the picture. The food was cold, tasteless and just disappointing. I frequented this restaurant for years. We will never go back. Don't waste your time too many other overall dining options in NYC.

    The food is always good. The service is a bit slow and inattentive, and it does get busy. Yes, we realize it’s a casual place, but blaring music really makes it difficult to carry on a conversation. And it took quite a while to get the restaurant week menu. It wasn’t offered to other tables either, so that opportunity was lost if customers didn’t realize that NYC restaurant week had started. Also, there’s now only one dessert choice for restaurant week.

    We were 4 “regulars,” one in wheelchair. Three weeks before, we made the reservation, specifying upstairs at an easily accessible table by the elevator. We arrived on time and were told we were being seated downstairs which is more crowded, noisier & chillier. When we refused, we were told that a table upstairs had paid but it might be 20 minutes. It took 30 minutes during which time 80 year olds had to stand at the entrance while many people were exiting from upstairs. One of the hostesses, while polite, was rather short with us. We would have left but, not being very mobile, there was no place to go. Not pleasant at all. We have reservations this Saturday (celebrating a birthday) and are now dreading what might happen. On the plus side, once upstairs, our waitress was amazingly nice. While the food was, as usual, fine, we are disappointed in the fairly recent changes in the menu which appears to have been reduced in size, with our two favorite entrees disappearing.

    Know what you are getting: the food is more sophisticated and more generic than your local Mexican restaurant. Within those constraints, the food was excellent. Everything was fresh, thoughtfully cooked and spiced, and little bit surprising. The tuna ceviche, a dish which we were familiar with from dining in Lima and local Peruvian restaurants, was both tasty and surprising. The service was prompt, friendly and extremely accommodating. The one defect was the noise level. The room is intrinsically noisy, the music was much too loud, and the diners, shouting to hear themselves over the noise, contributed to the general din. Not as pleasant or romantic as it otherwise could have been. Expensive, but within the expected range.

    Unfortunately the standards of this restaurant have gone way downhill. Over the last 17+ years we would visit whenever seeing a show in Lincoln Center. We have not been here since before Covid, but it is not at all the special place it used to be. Not even counting the outside scaffolding, the inside entrance/reception area is not inviting at all, now just a vacant unused bar. We were told in that reception area that our reservation request for an upstairs window seat on Columbus Ave would be accommodated; it was immediately dismissed when we arrived upstairs, as we were then led to an interior table in a darkened side room. Were told we would have to wait at least another 30 minutes otherwise. The wait staff was working hard and friendly, but they were obviously understaffed and frazzled, frantically trying to take care of too many tables. Lastly and most sadly the food was not the same, bland and not presented well. They used to make the Guac at your table, but not any more. The decorative 2 story blue wall of running water with the hundreds of sculptural divers... was dry and not working. That was truly symbolic of the entire restaurant these days. So disappointing. Hardly the festive and fun restaurant of the past. Not the way to end a lovely evening at Lincoln Center.

    Our reservation was for 6:30 PM but we were not seated until 7 PM. With theater tickets for 8 PM, we only had time to order the guacamole appetizer with the check, pay when the food arrived, scarf the food down, and leave for our show.

    Arrived ten minutes early. Told to sit at the bar. We asked if there was a bar upstairs to sit at. They said yes. So we went to the bar upstairs since that’s where we would be eating and the door wouldn’t keep opening and freezing us. No sears, but the bartender said the little table to the side is bar seating too. We got two margaritas and waited. Waited and waited. I saw people come up and be seated. I asked about our table. Which I was at the top of the queue. She said that means your table is being cleaned. Okay. Great! Sat down and told my friend. Now people are coming in pairs and being seated. I go back up and ask about the situation. Four sets of two were seated and we are still there. She goes we didn’t know you were here…they were calling you down there. I said I just talked to you! So we are ready. She goes did you get a drink. I said yes. If you sit at the bar, you get a drink. We’ll close out the bar bill. I asked why it couldn’t just go to the table, not allowed. So got that cleared up and we sat down. Yikes. Glad we made it to the opera on time. The bathroom was disgusting. No toilet paper, filthy. One stall was decent.

    We were initially seated on the second floor all the way in the back (on the 62nd Street side of the restaurant). It is dismal back there. The experience is like you’re eating in the cafeteria. It’s as if you are not seated in the same restaurant as everyone on the Columbus Avenue side where there is a party atmosphere. The maître d’ accommodated us with a two top along the stairwell and we had a great meal with our server Jaylevy. She was attentive without being overbearing and very personable. And our favorite bartender, José, came over to tell us hello. He was upstairs last night because his bar is being renovated. We are looking forward to having dinner at the “new” bar.
