The check in process was seamless: id and vaccine pass. Gave me comfort that the requirements were being followed. The service was great. My companion speaks Spanish and he handled the ordering and suggested fish tacos. Gave it a try and it was fabulous.
The menu has changed and is more affordable now. There is good variety, and everything was tasty! Tables are well-spaced, servers are friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time.
Something went wrong with the kitchen. We waited an hour for our food! We were told that the computer wasn't working! Food was delicious but we almost missed our show. I think we should have at least been comp'd something like free chips and salsa or a drink.
The food is mediocre, kind of thrown at you, and the restaurant was hot and too loud to hear anyone speaking. With waiters in masks now, it is a struggle to hear them and then it is not all that good when it arrives. A sorry slide for a once great Mexican restaurant. I give them props for checking IDs and Covid status.
Dining before ballet. Waiter overloaded so service bad. Food cold. We asked for medium guacamole and it came hot. This is a neighborhood restaurant for me. If I had been with my husband, we would never come back. Hope it improves.
The staff are completely overwhelmed. It’s understandable, but they need to limit seating until they figure it out.
The food - the salsa was horribly bland - just pulverized tomatoes and onions without salt or garlic or peppers. I got a 3-inch chicken bone in my pollo pibil tacos, but nobody to tell as our waiter was trying to cover several tables. The guacamole was good but overpriced. Worst thing was the constant waiting for service. Our waiter was lovely but, omg, they need help at the bar, help in the kitchen and help on the floor.
We won’t go back until I hear that things have improved.
Quite disappointing compared to pre-COVID. Inadequate waitstaff, inept maitresse d’ & poorly prepared food. Even their signature guacamole was poor - pre-made and no longer prepared fresh, table side. ☹️
Had the Tour of Mexico Prix Fixe. Everything was lovely. Ate outside as weather was good.
The food was excellent! I definitely recommend it if you love Mexican food.
Consistently delicious . Pomegranate margarita is the best. Guac also!
Miss the guacamole at the table service. Bruch selections were very nice. Drinks good as well.
Great food and service. Outdoor seating!
Our good experience was messed up by your waiter Jorge who was in such a rush to force second round of drinks even before we finished ours. We were there to meet a friend and he would constantly interrupt us asking if he could bring the next order even before we finished with our food !
When he misplaced my Amex c.c ( which he found later!) our patience with him was worn thin !
We were celebrating our 41st anniversary in NYC and try to visit Rosa Mexicana at Lincoln Center whenever we visit. We had a wonderful meal, delicious margaritas and impeccable service, as always. Thank you for another special lunch for our special weekend!!
Amazing service and great food!
Lively, clean, friendly atmosphere. Excellent drinks, brilliant guacamole and wonderful, interesting, authentic food. Highly recommend it.
We had to ask particularly for the meal on the website. It offers dishes not available on the unwieldy main menu. They we delicious.
We had a wonderful meal outside in one of the booths. Certainly not the same as being upstairs but we do it we must! The food was delicious as always!
Lily the manager is amazing. Love the michelada! Food is tasty and nice presentation
Stopped in based on reviews and we’re not disappointed. I recommend the Mexican bowl with the guacamole appetizer. It was excellent!
My lunch companion and I were encouraged not yo sit outdoors as per our request because service was said to be quicker indoors.
We agreed and had to wait over an hour for our order when everyone else was served. We brought this to the attention of the hostess who kindly agreed to deduct the cost of our meals.
There appears to be a problem in the kitchen which has not been corrected to date.
We come here frequently and wait a long time to be served.
Poor service incompetent receptionist
Been to Rosa Mexicano many times, but not in a few years, partly b/c of Covid, partly b/c its at Lincoln Center and pre Covid its was all just too crowded... But heres what we found... food was ok, seemed like our food was already prepared and waiting in the wings, and not cooked to order which is what you expect in a restaurant. My dish, enchiladas, was almost room temperature (read: NOT HOT, how can enchilada be served any other way but too hot to eat?), and my dates was only slightly warmer, cheese coagulated with in 10 minutes of being served. Desert was the same, ordered churros and the dipping sauces were cold from the fridge, as in, WE COULD NOT DIP the damn churros... Its a microwave folks, how hard is it? No one ever came back to the table to ask us how he food was for entrees or desert, otherwise we would have said something. Which is an interesting thing, there was no real service, only the order, then the food runners, not even clearing of the tables app dishes.
Another interesting things is they have not removed any tables, and it was old school NY where the tables were so close (how close were they?) I could takes something off the table next to us without over reaching in the original place they wanted to seat us. We asked to be moved to a less populated area in the dining room and we were accommodated, so thanks for that. It was so tight, that when we were bing shown to our table, the servers had to move out of the way of serving a table, so we could pass...I would say for the comfort and piece of mind of the diners, the dining room could use a 10-15% reduction of total number of tables and give folks some space. I know the restrictions have been removed, but come on folks.. its still a pandemic.
So overall, not sure if I will be back anytime soon. RM was a treasure when it opened years back and even considered fine dining back in the day. Today its on par with Chilis.
Find was delicious. We sat outside and as expected it was a bit noisy. Can’t wait to return
choose upper floor................................................................
The charm is gone. Food now is just above tex mex food chain restaurants.
10 minutes to get a server. Food was just ok. Guacamole was basically chunks of avocado. Quesadilla has very little meat. Do not recommend
Lovely place to eat in the City. Food is excellent and so was the service.
All great, but always feel the service is what primes the most!
We were the first table there
Apps (chicken nachos) took a long time 30-45 mins. We never got our entrees and the server never came back to see if we got our food.
Coffee mugs were extremely dirty, please polish
Tables that came after us, ate and got their check before us.
Won’t ever come back again, not even as a buyback
As a long time diner of Rosa's I was not expecting the worst service I've ever experienced at this or any NYC restaurant. The initial food service/delivery was fine. But our empty plates sat on our very small table for way too long and were not removed off the table until I flagged down a passing server and asked for the plates to be taken away. When our waiter appeared about 15 minutes later, we ordered dessert.
20 or so minutes later I went indoors to inquire about our desserts. The waiter said the desserts were being prepared and would be ready in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later the desserts arrived. Every course was deliscious but the experience spoiled by the terrible service.
👍🏻🦋 good good good good
Service was great, the drinks were really good, food was ok.
Great outdoor space. Margaritas are on point.
It’s incredibly sad to see a much-loved NYC mainstay enter into such a precipitous decline following the pandemic. The kitchen staff struggled to produce food in a timely manner (despite operating from a significantly reduced and uninspiring menu, which seems to no longer include desserts). As the situation deteriorated throughout the course of the evening, the waiting staff disappeared entirely from the floor, leaving me and my fellow diners questioning if there was a staff walkout. Eventually diners began to rise from their tables asking the front desk reception for assistance with their orders. I’ve been a regular customer at Rosa Mexicano for decades and it pains me to see the wheels fall off what was previously a well-oiled and efficient establishment.
I think the new menu is unfortunate. It is clumsy and inconvenient.
Also I do not care for the music piped. It is noisy rather than musical in the accepted sense of the word.
Always good here!
Food and service were excellent
Great, as always! Especially with Restaurant Week specials.
