They are the only game in town...the only high end Mexican restaurant to dine at before a Lincoln Center event. Wish there was some competition...the downstairs hostesses are ALWAYS so grumpy -- as if they hate working there. They look through you and are very rude to incoming diners. I never can understand why they don't train their hostesses to be friendly and smiling. Again, wish there was some competition so that they realize their diners are putting money in their paychecks.
Great staff. Everyone was friendly and accommodating.
Great pre-theatre experience.
Have dined here throughout the years and had great experiences so maybe this was just an off night. This particular evening we booked an 11:15 reservation post show. Arrived right on time and yet felt very rushed through dinner and even had the restaurant lights turned on us. We were not the only people dining late there either. Felt odd. Was a bummer. Suggest not offering 11:15 pm reservations if staff isn’t welcoming to them.
They have a new menu, I am glad there are more vegetarian options, they should mark the vegan options too.
Pretty good, not great. Service can be spotty. But in the end we enjoyed our food. Any restaurant in the neighborhood will be expensive for what you get.
Food was flavorful and the guacamole was made fresh at the table and was most delicious! Service was prompt and courteous
Good food! Good service! But it was way to warm (hot) at 7pm to 9pm on Nov 16 on Second Level of restaurant —location at Lincoln Center NYC.
When we arrived for a 6:00 reservation there was a large crowd at the check in desk. We were told our table was not available. We were not seated until almost 6:25 and had an 8:00 curtain for Philharmonic. The restaurant was clearly over booked had problems handling the crowd. I was a quite surprised since
I ah e eaten there pre Lincoln Center before without any problems. I will be reluctant to try it again
We arrived early for our reservation but they were able to seat us. Our waiter was very attentive and offered great suggestions on some of the newer items on the menu. Everything came promptly and was delicious. It became very crowded and noisier as the crowd grew. All in all it was a nice experience.
Terrible service and I do not appreciate having to tell the waiter the tip amount where he pressured us based on the two suggested percentages on the bill. They then add it in and bring the bill to sign. I have never encountered this it was extremely uncomfortable to give less which he so deserved asked on the rude and bad service provided.
Waiter and staff were attentive and delivered the goods as ordered, food was great and our party of six foodies left very satisfied, thanks Rosa Mexicano! Be back again
Always good service; the guac is yummy and the menu is great. that said, I always get the fish tacos! Margaritas are good and good selection of tequilas to boot
Guacamole and margaritas were outstanding!
The tableside guacamole is a must. Great street tacos, sangria, and margaritas.
Excellent Oaxacan menu with very good appetizers. I usually avoid Chalupines but Rosa used just enough to give the right amount of fried grasshopper crunch and taste! However, the main dishes -- chicken and pork chop -- were totally overcooked and dried out! Rosa Lincoln Center seems to have a problem with overcooking main dishes. Good appetizers and good drinks though.
We love Rosa Mexicano! Have been coming here for many years.
This time - hostesses were not so friendly and engaging, and after waiting with no response for 5 mins - we decided to move to the bar area and get ourselves few drinks and try to approach hostesses one more time.
But after sitting down for dinner - everything was perfect! Attentive personal, great service, quick and delicious ( it was pre show dinner). Great margaritas, best guacamole and pretty good street tacos.
We really enjoy our evening.
Great as usual!!!
Menu choices limited, ambiance and service were terrific. Good quality food but limited choices. Pricing slightly on the high side relatively speaking.
Loved the restaurant. My husband and I made dinner reservations after attending a concert at Lincoln Center for 9:15 pm. We were seated right away and greeted by a friendly, courteous staff. The drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert were all excellent and exceeded expectations. Perfect date night.
Service was bad
I have been to every Rosa Mexicano location. The food was delicious and fairly priced, as usual. Unfortunately, we were mostly forgotten by our waiter...who only came by to pick up our plates. We were sat at a very cramped table and it was a little difficult to hear each other talk, which I guess may be acceptable at such a busy resturant. Just a note. Great experience overall:)
Birthday and new citizenship
The food was good and the service was excellent as it normally is when I come.
We ordered a beef with mashroom source, the size of beef was unexpectedly small as the price ($35) and its mashroom source was too salty for us.
Order the fresh guacamole made at the table - excellent!
I ordered the alambre camarones and it had four shrimp with two peppers; not satisfying; My wife's flautas were mixed with salsa and not to her liking; we have been loyal customers since Zarela closed
Decided to order a bunch of small bites/plates for dinner, including their famous guacamole!! Simply DELICIOUS all around! Could not have had a better meal and wonderful service. My hubby and I were thrilled and will return there soon.
Rosa Mexicano is clean with a lovely atmosphere. The servers are friendly and patient. The food is of high quality and delicious. It’s one of my favorite places in that area.
Hostess was disorganized and confused. Restaurant is extremely noisy. We asked for a quiet table and were offered one by the bar-the loudest table in the house. We asked to be seated upstairs. She asked us to wait, then offered a quiet upstairs table to the next patron, using my name! She didn’t remember me!
Upstairs was nice, good food, but still hard to hear the waitstaff. Wrong beverages were brought. There is something about the size of this place that makes it unrestful.
Took waaaay to long to get our meals. Brought appetizers same time as dinner. Not well coordinated. Waiter was nice but obviously overwhelmed. Food was good but if you’re in a rush to see a show, I would avoid.
One of our favorites. Still wishing for a Chicago location.
Have gone here many times. Always enjoy the energy. Service was fantastic, noise level almost painful. Short rib wasn’t fall off the bone and a bit rubbery. Guacamole spicy just as ordered
Great place to go before Lincoln Center. Ignore the noisy bar near the entrance. Food, service and ambiance upstairs is very nice.
Rosa Mexicano always provides good Mexican (NOT Tex/Mex) food at a reasonable price. It's right across the street from Lincoln Center, and is one of our regular choices for dinner before the opera. On our most recent visit the tuna ceviche special, with avocado, jalapenos, and citrus, was delicious. The skirt steak was perfectly cooked, and the budin de pollo was excellent. The flan was exactly as it should be. It was very noisy, but that seems to be a universal problem.
This fell very short of our expectations! We’ve been here before and it was great, this time, the short ribs were all fatty, the enchiladas were mushy and the mango margarita was well not at all enjoyable!! Very big let down!! The churros were yummy at least!
I have not been back for years to Rosa Mexicano. Good news is the space is warm and vibrant, and the staff and service were excellent. Bad new? The food was average at best, and the beer selection was pathetic. Mexican beer, all in bottles. Not even on tap. Salsa was poor, tasted like it came from a jar. Fine for a quick reasonably priced dinner, but do not expect great food.
Always a good place in the Lincoln Center area...love the guac and more!
Very nice meal. The tableside guac was great, as always. The carintas are fantastic, as are the enchiladas and the tampiquena! Service was very efficient, but our waiter was a bit brusque. This generally doesn't bother us since we're not looking for a new best friend, but it was noticeable enough that we couldn't give the full 5 stars. Its quite loud, but that's New York, where if you want a quiet meal you stay home.
Fish in fish taco over cooked. It was very dry. Sauce was delicious.
Delicious Mexican food and outstanding drinks. Great location and beautiful room.
