Rosa Mexicano by Lincoln Center

Nice ambiance and good cocktails. However the food was sub par. The ceviche was ok and the fish tacos and the shrimp special were mediocre. The deserts were the worst part. We ordered the flan and the tres leches cake and both simply tasted bad. Overall, the food has hone down in quality. Probably an ok place for appetizers and cocktails with nice ambiance, but for good food there are other great places close by.
This is really my favorite "go to" restaurant in NYC. Always consistent food and service. Can get you in and out quickly if you need to get to Lincoln Center. Will vary the ingredients if you need them to.
Little change ups on the menu all the time for the better. (But bring back the pozole and the lamb in the parchment paper in the winters.)
We had four great dinners and excellent service and a good amount of time to get to the theater
My go to restaurant at Lincoln Center! Wonderful food, drink and atmosphere.
I was not overly or underly impressed with Rosa Mexicano. The ambiance and service was good; however, the food was not anything I would write home about. Considering there are so many options in New York, this isn't one that I would recommend because of that.
great room, mediocre food. it used to be much better, too bad they did not keep up their standard.
Just not good. Bathrooms dirty and lacking soap and paper. No air conditioning on a 90 degree day. Service very slow. They should be able to do better but seem to be on a decline.
great experience. My family has a great time! They loved the food and atmosphere.
The steak I had was like trying to eat a boot. The drinks were watered down and the place was noisy. Service was very good.
Very Nice place, very kind service! We loved! Guacamole and tacos very good!
When you’re a Texan and away from home it’s good to find Mexican food done right.
The service and food was excellent!! It’s the first time we’ve been to Rosa Mexicano, and we’ll be sure to go back!
Very nice. Loved the guacamole and Marguerita. Food very good. Noise was extremely annoying
This restaurant has an intimate feel with the warm of home!
The staff was very delightful. Our server for the evening was Somora and she was AMAZING!! Beyond pleasant and attentive without being intrusive and annoying. I am not really a fan of Mexican food, but the fish tacos HERE were soooooooo good. The fish was very fresh, seasoned well, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Crispy and piping hot on the outside, yet flaky and moist on the inside. definitely worth the price. The pomegranate margarita was excellent... all 3 of them. :) On my next visit, I am definitely going for the spicy pineapple margarita! I saw it being served at another table and goodness did it look thirst quenching. Also, the flan and churros ice cream sandwich were the perfect desserts. I will definitely be returning in the near future!
Rosa Mexicano used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Despite being a large corporation you could rely on the kitchen to turn out interesting flavorful dishes that defied most corporate expectations. Unfortunately, this no longer seems the case. While the ambience is pleasant and the staff, as always, works hard to make you happy and comfortable, the food lacks flavor complexity and texture. It now seems much more like a corporate restaurant that is trying not to alienate Americans seeking slightly ethnic varieties of American food; everything is rather banal and soft. I hope they will go back to an earlier vision of food that surprises and excites the palette and tastes more like authentic Mexican food.
Great location and service! Excellent service! Really enjoyed our meal.
The best margaritas and guacamole! Delicious tasty food!
I am asked to write a review that is at least 50 characters in length but the only thing I want to say about the place is meh.
Great time for am afternoon lunch. Sit outside!
The staff were great dealing with our toddler
This place was amazing. Great food, great prices, great service, great ambiance. My visit couldn't have no been any better. By the way, get the guacamole (it will change your life).
I love the food always great.
I have always had good experiences at Rosa Mexicans until last night.
When we were finally seated, a waiter never came. We were brought chips by someone but they were cold and stale. Finally we flagged down a waiter at another table (after about 15 min) and asked who our waiter was and he rudely said it was him.
We asked to order drinks and when they finally came (margaritas) he did not give us straws (every other table had paper straws). We couldn’t drink our drinks until they were half melted when we got a different waiter to bring us straws and water. When our waiter saw this a few minutes later from another table, he visibly rolled his eyes at us.
Our waiter never once spoke a full sentence to us. He did not introduce himself.
After the meal, he brought us the wrong check that was for another table that had spent more than we had.
We corrected him and he just rudely snatched the bill and my card from me and walked away. When he brought it back he did not speak, just threw it down on the table and walked away.
It was such a disappointing dining experience. Even the food was not the quality I expected, but the horrible waiter really made me never want to come back.
I would not recommend this particular location of Rosa.
The food is fantastic at this location. The service was good, but not great. Being proactive when ordering brunch drinks in recommended as is allowing time to enjoy. The staff is very friendly.
Excellent service the wait staff was very helpful. Unfortunately, they were out of mexican coke and the guac was made with a less than ideal avocado, which turned it into a less than expected experience.
This is a great spot for lunch or dinner pre or post Lincoln Center show. Very conveniently located. The staff is very friendly to adults and children. Guacamole made table side is always a favorite for us!
Great food and service.
Based on the guacamole alone, I would recommend Rosa. The rest of the menu is pretty great too.
The drinks were very good and the food generous but I am afraid the flavors were not as I remembered them. Fish tacos were enormous but tasteless, Rice&Beans taste of nothing and the Guac was just ok. The salsa was good. The food used to be solid but not sure what happened. I would say 4 stars for drinks and 2 for food.
Service front was uneven. Some members of staff were great! Others hideous but in balance was a good experience.
Not sure I will go back in a rush.
Great! Loved it. Our go-to restaurant when we see a show at Lincoln Center.
It’s now my favorite restaurant near Lincoln Center
Amazing food and wonderful service
Wonderful NY location to take my family, from out of town, including my super-hungry nephews! They loved it, and I enjoyed the meal and a perfect margarita as always. Also love the non-alcoholic beverages: hibiscus iced tea and cucumber mint w/ line & pellegrino.
Usually service very efficient. This time it was slow.
We allowed 2 hours for dinner so we would not have to rush. When we ordered entrees, I asked if the salmon dish could be prepared without the chorizo and was told it could so I ordered it. It arrived with the chorizo so we called over the manager and I ordered another fish entree that could be prepared more quickly. Was told would not be charged for the salmon dish (well, I would hope not!). The other entree arrived some time later but a relaxed meal then became rushed. The bill arrived and I was charged for the substitute entree, which did not seem right and finally they removed the charge. The food and ambiance were very good but they need to pay more attention to the accuracy of the order.
we had a round table in corner and we could converse easily. the meal arrived lukewarm and fish tacos didn’t seem freshly cooked.
The guacamole is not as good as it used to be. Service outside was not great.
Pro: Menu has a lot to choose from and the portions are generous. We ordered the beef tacos and shrimp quesadilla. Both were delicious. The table next to ours ordered the guacamole - looked great as it is made fresh at your table. Dessert menu was tempting as well.
Con: We had a reservation, the restaurant was not too busy, but they wouldn’t seat us outside claiming they didn’t have enough menus .... we were a party of two.
Food and drinks were excellent as was service. A wonderful experience!
The food was delicious. I enjoyed tasting all of the fresh ingredients and flavors. My fiance's steak was perfectly cooked and I loved the ride and beans. The drinks were not that great but I was pleased with everything else. It's a wonderful place to go for a date especially right before attending an event at the Lincoln Center.
The waitress was extremely rude, like she didn’t want to be there. When I would ask for a drink she would roll her eyes.
