Rosa Mexicano - Boston
I went for lunch on restaurant week. They offered 2 courses for $20.00. That was great value considering the portion sizes, selections available and the deliciousness of the food.
Again food not gourmet, but well cooked and presented.
The bathroom was disgusting!! Most of the stalls had no toilet paper and the hostesses were slammed! Bar was closed for a private party so no place to have a drink and wait for our table. Food was good.. waitress was good!
Food had no seasoning, service was slow and inattentive. Asked for refills, never received. Never she'd how meal was.
We went out for a girls night and based off of a recommendation we chose Rosa Mexicano. I have Celiac (Gluten “Allergy”) as well as a milk allergy. The waitress (Kelly) was incredibly knowledgeable and assured me that my food would be safe which it was as I had no reactions. Our food was delicious. We had the table guacamole, shrimp tacos, portobello tacos, and enchiladas. Everything was fresh and even though the restaurant was packed, the wait wasn’t too long for food. Everything was reasonably priced. A reservation is a must as when we were leaving it was very crowded with people waiting on a table. We will definitely be back.
Great location, good food, would definitely go back
Loved this place! Great food. Attentive service. Delicious food! We went for Restaurant Week and were very happy [and full] when we left! The enchiladas suiza are soooo good!
We had a rude curt server that didn’t want to be there and she spoiled our meal. We barely saw her and when we did, she sighed when we would ask her for anything...including more drinks!
Unfortunately the restaurant has gone downhill since last visit. Tableside guac is their specialty, but ours was only half mixed and rushed, we ended up having to make it ourselves. Also tried a cocomojito drink that was very off, likely coconut milk expired (they did not charge us for these). Sad because I loved my first visit.
One of my favorites in the area
This is one of several 'upscale' mexican restaurants in the seaport area and I would recommend ANY other restaurant in the area. While the service was wonderful, the drink menu is sparse, the portion size is insultingly small for the prices, and the selection for main courses is extremely limited. I got a special for my main ' crab stuffed enchiladas ' . There was less than 3 tbs of crab in the entire dish, which was two, small corn tortillas with almost non existent filling and it would have been less insulting except the meal was $30. I mean there were more bites of tortilla & sauce than anything else. I paid $30 for two small corn tortillas and a plate of sauce. Honestly it was truly insulting. My husband got the street shrimp tacos and they were like mini slider tacos, you get three, mini tacos.... as a main. My husband is not a large man, average 160lbs and the sad look on his face when it arrived was heartbreaking. Needless to say, we actually went down the street to a local bar and ate an entire other delicious meal after our reservation at Rosa Mexicano, and we are not large people, we didn't expect the crazy large portions you find in most restaurants. We have ventured to many fine dining restaurants and never have had a problem like this. But when we go out for dinner, no alcoholic beverages, and get two mains and a desert for $100+ we expect to not still be so hungry we go out and have 2nd dinner in less than 30 min after.
During a conference it was a bit hectic and too expensive for the portion size. Maybe better other times.
Overall this is decent spot. The atmosphere and drinks are really good. The appetizer guac was great, the meals were a bit overpriced. Service was spotty, took 15 for someone to initially come over and again after we finished our meals were sitting there for a while wanting the check. Would recommend for drinks and app’s.
Overall good. Food was excellent. Drinks were pricey. Tough table near service station, but that happens I get it.
Had reservation and had to wait a while which made the table we got a bit more annoying. Server got off to a slow start, but overall was good and attentive. Food was excellent! Would return.
It was a nice restaurant but really difficult to have a conversation without talking really loud.
Enjoyable evening. Food was great and reasonably priced.
All great but music is too loud for conversation
There's a new menu. It's much improved.
Got both me and my friends order wrong. But they comped the meal so I can't complain. Great hospitality. Would recommend.
Food was on point servuce was great as well
Excellent with accommodating last minute changes to a large party reservation! Service and food were great!
Valentines Night out - very disappointing! We had 9:45 PM reservations and not called until 10:33. Outrageous! This was our second time here due to not having a welcoming experience the first time. I travel all over the country and tend to book reservations via the Open Table app and this has been our worse experience. However, I am not done! At 10:20 my husband walked into the Bar area and found a high table for two. He promptly claimed it and the waitstaff was wonderful. You could tell they were overwhelmed not they did their best. Thank you bartenders! When I got the text that my table was ready I went to the desk to let them know we had gotten a table. The manager looked at me with disdain but after telling him politely we found a table in the bar area he did say Thank you for telling us. Really?! Rosa Mexicana!! Really?! Sorry to say there will not be a third time! Valentines Day or not! Respect your Patrons Time!
Over booked tables so had to wait an extra 45 minutes at 930 Pm.
Had to wait for an hour to get a table even after having a reservation
Overbooked reservations for Valentine’s Day. Was over an hour past my reservation time.
The portions are insanely small. The service was slow, and the waiter forgot our drinks at some point, the manager fixed it and took care of the bill, but the overall experience was just unpleasant. The way it was handled though was very professional and respectable.
Awesome all around. From pre dinner drinks at the bar to dinner and desert. Staff , Service, Drinks, Dinner, Price , all 5 stars
Guacamole rules. Good spot. Easy and fast. No pressure business lunch
The food was well prepared and delicious, however, customer service issues started the moment we stepped in. We had an 8:30 reservation, were told they were running behind 5-10 minutes...no big deal. 15 minutes later they needed another 5-10, by the time we were sat it was 9pm. Before a server came to take out order it was 9:30. We didn't end up eating until past 10 at night...
The atmosphere was way too loud. The waitress we had no clue about the menu. She also used the words “hunny” and “sweetie” like she was talking to children. The guacamole was Amazing!! I ordered the Baja fish tacos and they were terrible, bland and over battered. The manager said he would take them off the bill and this never happened. My husbands credit card was charged 3 different times for 3 different amounts. Finally 4 days later and a call to the manager it was taken care of. I would not recommend this restaurant for a sit down dinner.
The food was adequate. The drinks were not good. They very expensive and very watered down. Don’t waste your money.
Slow service. Had to get up from the table to find our waiter twice. Enjoyed the fresh guacamole made at the table. Tacos were okay.
Great for big groups, our server was terrific. Guacamole was fantastic- but not truly table-side. Drinks were not good, fajitas were small portions but the chicken was great.
Food was great for me ..my kid tried something new and did not like..but that comes with taking a chance...waiter was very good and along with everyone else ..very welcoming and pleasant
The meat was undercook although I asked for it to be well done.
Great meat, authentic dishes, delicious margs
Service extremely slow, never got drinks or chips/salsa...clearly they were very overwhelmed
We enjoyed an early Saturday evening meal at Rosa - it met our expectations. The menu is small - the drink menu is larger than the food menu. The food we had was good - everyone enjoyed their meal.
Excellent food and great atmosphere. Great with a group
Great food with both a local and modern taste of traditional Mexican plates. Highly recommended.
Took the wife there for New Year’s Eve dinner. Our waiter was very gracious and helpful. Was excellent service and the food and ambiance was exceptional. Will definitely return again.
