Rosa Mexicano - Atlanta Ratings and Reviews
Not only was the food very, very good, but the wait staff was excellent - got us in and out in plenty of time for a performance we were attending. Our waitress was so personable and accommodating. The best thing was that we got tied up in unbelievable traffic trying to get to Atlantic Station, and the restaurant held our reservation (table for 6). We were almost 45 minutes late!!! Although we had called to say we were going to be late, we never expected to be seated immediately upon arrival - because we were SO late. But seated we were - right away - and we really appreciated that!!! Would recommend Rosa Mexicana anytime!!!
This was a great choice! We loved everything! Our server was very knowledgeable and all of his recommendations were spot on. You can’t miss with this place no matter what the occasion. The food was so good I couldn’t even do dessert. Although it was so tempting. It was a great date night!
My wife has been insisting for ages that we go to Rosa Mexicana, and I had resisted bravely until last week, when we had to go to Atlantic Station for a show. We live in Dunwoody and very few restaurants are worth the drive. This is one is.
I travel to Mexico once a month, and know the country (and the food) very well. Mexico is a very diverse country, and the food reflects that. You can spend a year eating a different dish every night, and you still will not have covered the whole country.
Covering (some of) the country is what this restaurant tries to do, each dish comes from a different state. Though most of them are variations on well known themes, they do reflect some of the particularities of each area. Many of my Mexican friends would scream that this is just a cliffs notes version of Mexican cuisine, and they'd be right, but it is worth it because you get to see some of the very tasty geographical variety (instead of all tex-mex), and because the food is GOOD.
Order the Guacamole (prepared at the table with fresh avocados). I don't think much of Guacamole, and I LOVED this.
Great service too, our waiter was Luis, and he knows his stuff. Brought me the bill early without being asked because we were going to Cirque du Soleil. That earned him an extra tip.
Disappointing for a special occasion that was not acknowledged. Apparently, this was either not communicated by Open Table or the reservation notes were overlooked. Restaurant acted blameless. They did offer to do something about it, but the moment for acknowledgement was lost. Table side guacamole was bland, though preparer was lovely and accommodating. It is wildly overpriced at $15 plus. My large portion of salmon was surprisingly delicious as was my margarita. Birthday boy’s tres enchiladas were of average quality but not average price. Wouldn’t go again for a special occasion, but maybe before or after a movie. Bottom line: pleasant service can’t make up for price/quality discrepancy.
This was absolutely the worst Mexican food I have ever been served. Soft tortillas were cheesy and thick not tasty. Queso was so thick and full of cheese you could not enjoy any flavor. Quesadillas were cold.
Drinks were good- Margaritas.
Would never suggest this restaurant to anyone for any occasion
We arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately, as the restaurant was about 20% full. I was glad they could accomodate us. The menu was interesting and it was hard to choose from multiple appealing entrees. Unfortunately, our server was highly inattentive. During our meal, the restaurant increased to about 60% seating capacity, but was by no means overwhelmed and seemed to have adequate wait staff. Our server was friendly, but we could not get his attention to help us with any of our needs. The dining room is open and we could see him almost constantly, but he never looked our way in order for us to flag him down. For the price point of this restaurant I expected better. The food was good, but I was disappointed in the service and likely won't return.
I thought that $15.50 for guacamole was a bit rich. $7 for a beer? Our entrees came out as requested except for one. The waitress made a comment that we ordered something out of the norm (which we hadn't as it was an option written on the children's menu). It was a delay in getting a new meal, no big deal but didn't appreciate the insinuation that we asked for something above/beyond the menu options. Overall...overpriced bar/dinner menus. Was disappointed that none of our plates were cleared as we sat after our meals. I rarely write reviews, I just felt this was a restaurant with an amazing location with poor standards concerning service and quality of food, as well as being over priced.
Never tried this restaurant before but was pleasantly surprised at the taste of the food. I usually avoid Mexican food because let's face it - it usually tastes like over-microwaved and reheated junk, but the food at Rosa Mexicano did not disappoint! Service was excellent; our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made great recommendations for appetizers and entrees. It's nice that the dishes are labeled based on what region of Mexico they come from, lending to more authenticity of the dishes based on the region of origin and ultimately the taste. The Tampiqueña de Carne Asada (Tampico), or grilled skirt steak, was awesome and extremely tender. It was ordered 'medium' but served more on the 'rare' side in the very middle section, but I'm OK with that. The Chamorro (Michoacan) was also amazing - very tender and flavorful served with homemade tortillas. I was somewhat disappointed that our server called them 'tor-tiLL-oes' and not 'tor-tee-yahs' - I mean, come on! SMH. But the Mexican/Spanish rice and the beans I usually avoid at Mexican places? I inhaled them here - both full of flavor. All said, I would come back here again when at Atlantic Station.
Nice place. We had a reservation and sat right down. It was 4pm so it was very slow in the restaurant but it still took 45 minutes for us to get our food. They brought 2 plates out (of 6) and it took an additional 20 minutes to get the rest of the table's food. The manager apologized but instead of comping something we already ordered she sent 2 desserts without asking- that we didn't even want at the end of a 90 min waiting game. The food/drinks we had were good but overpriced. Might try it again but won't make a big effort.
So I used to really like this place. For a chain it had good food, ambiance and solid service too.
Now? Ugh. We got there an hour and 20minures before a show, had reservations and the restaurant was not even half full at that point (6:15pm). It took 20 minutes to get water, an hour to get food and then it tasted wrong. Shouldn’t have eaten it; my girlfriend got sick not long after.
Ambiance? They haven’t fixed the cool waterfountain of the divers in over a year and my guess someone is not washing the veggies (or worse their hands) in the back.
Skip it, the guacamole is over rated anyway and you'll pay over $25 to get three average tacos you could make at home.
Oddly the beans and rice are still good. Maybe they come from a can?
Still making best craft Guacamole at tableside. Ask for Tequila flights (no longer on nar menu) or come early on Wed for tastings. Manager came to our table and took a customized order for us on request. Made our latino guests anniverary all the more special, more than pleased and impressed. Best Pomegranate Margaritas still our favorite. Great authentic Mexican food.
Service wasn't good this time. The veggie enchiladas had a different filling this time than what they usually have. Also the rice and cawliflower in the kids quesadilla was really spicy, not appropriate for a child. This was the first time we had so many issues at RM! Normally we love it.
