A fun, energetic tribute to American Southern cuisine. Our dining room is bustling with high-energy just like our great Magic City. Our menus focus on local distilleries and local farms throughout Alabama; the menu is ever changing with only the freshest products on hand. Our dishes are whimsical yet elegant with a feeling of comfort to them.
Roots & Revelry departs from the norm by modernizing fine dining. It’s haute with casual undertones, southern with international influences.

Our Patio is not covered. Patio is weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, we will do our best to accommodate you inside but can not guarantee a table.

Reservations preferred, walk-ins accepted based on availability.

We are allotting 1 1/2 hours for parties of two, 2 hours for parties of four, 2 1/2 hours for parties six or more. Please call us at 205-730-1907 or email home@roots-revelry.com for any parties over six guests.

    The brunch at R&R is just the best of the best. My wife and I have been coming here for years specifically for the chicken and waffles 🥹 But we love everything on the menu. Just be prepared for quite a bit of noise if you’re coming on a weekend.

    My server Ashley was awesome, Traci the manager on duty made sure everything ran smoothly and chef Robert Lynn was definitely on point! The environment in the TJ is so amazing, what a piece of history. Loved Roots and Rev, and I live nearby. This may be my new regular weekend brunch!

    Quality of food has significantly decreased over the past 2 years. This is my last time visiting. I make reservations 3 days prior to and I’m directed to sit outside in 100 degree heat. My entree was sold out on their limited brunch menu.

    Great place for a date. Making reservations online was easy. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and elegant. The drinks was made with perfection. The only thing I would change is the amount of time it took for our food to arrive. Overall, I will definitely dine there again. Hopefully, I will meet someone special and he could take me and pay next time. 😁

    We never got a waiter or could figure out who was supposed to take care of us. This was one of the worst meal experiences I have ever had. We sat for 45 mins with no acknowledgement from any staff. Food was okay but we will NEVER go back.

    Two of my favorite foods, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp & grits, were second to none at Roots and Revelry. The double batter for the tomatoes is seasoned to fraction. The local grits were perfectly creamy. If you like banana nut bread, the pecan banana beignets are a must. Chef Lynn certainly knows what he’s doing. We will happily drive over from Alanta again.

    There was no toilet paper or soap in the women’s bathroom. One of the stalls was locked and apparently not operational. Another stall was so disgusting, it should have been locked because for all intents and purposes it was nonfunctional. To add to the ambiance there was a child in a tent in the hallway. Any comments I could make on the food seem unnecessary based on the above.

    My apologies for the condition of the women's restroom. We clean them everyday prior to service. The restrooms are a shared space with the events company located here and the damage within took place during one of their functions. They have agreed to make the necessary repairs.

    The decor was nice and the service was great, but other than that the food did not meet my expectations. It wasn’t really very flavorful, and even the water didn’t taste good. Also the bathrooms smelled like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks.

    So good!!! I’ve been for brunch (which is always great), but we decided to try dinner for the first time last week. It was absolutely amazing!! the vibe is peaceful, and the staff is nothing but kind. the food was absolutely amazing!! i got the 8 oz filet and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. my friends got the pesto chicken appetizer and absolutely LOVED it. i highly recommend!!!

    Honestly, Tracy (the hostess) was awful. Her lackadaisical attitude was the cause of a terrible experience. She obviously does not have the appropriate prerequisite experience to serve in her assigned capacity. From her inability to seat guests appropriately to her unapologetically bringing entrées out separately... she is/was responsible for a horrible experience. We watched as several other tables complained and left without being served during brunch on Saturday, July 8th. To top things off, she refused to take accountability and even ignored our requests to speak with her. Our server was apologetic and she offered to comp our meals. She even provided us with two additional brunch beverages (spirits). I asked her if she was certain that she did not want for us to pay for the beverages and she said said that she was comping everything including the beverages. She went on to tell us that Traci was the owners girlfriend and was not aware of what she was doing. I've sinced received multiple unsolicited Text messages from Traci. Potential diners should be aware of the unprofessional behavior.

    Do NOT eat here. Party of 10. Confirmed 24 hours prior. Arrived and staff never showed up. Only one employee who shared the owner refused to answer cell phone and help.

    Andy, I am very sorry for your experience, however it was not brought to our attention that you were told that we couldn't serve you. The person you dealt with was an assistant manager, but is no longer with us. The employee failed to communicate this situation and then walked out. The kitchen was fully prepared to serve you and was aware of your reservation. We hope that you'll give us another try.

    Anniversary. Place is beautiful. Service was ok. It took a while for drinks and refills. We asked for a vegetable change while ordering and were still given the one we didn’t want. We didn’t say anything though and ate it anyway. Food wasn’t up to the standards when we visited before. A man that worked there was walking around talking to a woman who was lying in bed while on facetime. So customers could see it. Very unprofessional.

    We were a party of 6 on a Thursday evening for my daughter's college graduation. The evening started confusing as we didn't know where the restaurant was actually located. There was no signage and no one in the lobby to direct us. We simply followed the noise, went up the staircase to the second floor and suddenly discovered the restaurant. We were quickly greeted and there was too much drama to seat 6 people, the entire restaurant was empty, as there was only another table of 5 people already seated. The service was adequate but slow, drinks were ordered and brought to the table quickly, the food on the other hand took way too long. We arrived at 6:30pm and didn't leave until 8:55pm. Dinner took way too long!!!!! We presumed that the kitchen was the issue, but were never told even when we asked why the food took so long. It seems that they need additional staff in the kitchen and more better training of the service staff. Hopefully they will find their groove and become the restaurant they can be.

    Busy Mother's Day brunch, but service was very good and friendly. Our food was excellent and arrived in a reasonable timeframe despite the crowd. Quite loud, so no real intimacy. Could clean up the building lobby to create a more inviting entry to the restaurant.

    Service was slow. This establishment has definitely done down since the last we visited. Service was slow, food was bland, burnt and honestly, not good. I didn’t even eat my food. Limited menu and several of the items were not available. Took my mother for a Mother’s Day Brunch and I was very disappointed.

    Our waitress was nice but the experience didn't give the upscale persona the restaurant displays. The food was ok but expensive. They also already have a limited menu at baseline and they didn't have two menu items available to order the night we went. Again the wait staff was nice but the overall experience wasn't worth the cost.

    Service was bad - took almost an hour to get appetizers that we ordered right when we sat down and they weren’t even that busy. Food was also EXTREMELY salty. Everything we had was extremely over-salted and almost hard to eat.

    the apps took forever, i ordered a pork chop medium rare and it was SO over cooked that i couldn’t even chew one piece of it. i told the chef and just said to make me a quick caesar salad with dressing on the side. instead….. i got one so soaked in dressing that i couldn’t eat that either. totally disappointed in this restaurant 👎

    The food and cocktails were great. The restaurant itself was small, but lovely. The decor was artsy and menu was plentiful. The only issue we had was the surrounding area was extremely sketchy. Every building near it was closed and boarded up. Valet wasn’t available, so we had to park in a lot close to the restaurant. It didn’t seem safe, but others were parked there as well. The building that the restaurant is in is quite old and maybe even closed as well. I was shocked that this cute restaurant was located here.
