Always the absolute best!
Don't let the limited/simple menu fool you .. everything is unbelievably delicious .. you won't regret dining there!!!
I took my mom here and we had a great time. The gin-and-tonics were to *die* for, and the food was delicious and filling.
Food was great. Loved the fried chick peas
For food the place offers few selection, appetizers small. The selections are well done, but not very many. As one coming from the San Francisco area I was not too impressed with the wine bar, not wide ranging selection and expensive.
Lovely as always ♥️
Mushroom burger is FANTASTIC. Would love to see more vegetarian/ vegan options on the menu.
This was my 2nd dining experience at Root. I went for the Joe Beddia pop-up. Food and service were great, and ambiance was cozy as well. I ordered off of the Beddia wine list, and most of the Beddia food items. I ordered 1 Root pasta dish, which was exceptional.
Great meal and great staff -- highly recommend to anyone who is interested in a date night out in Fishtown.
Food was fantastic! Love the seasonal fare and unexpected flavors.
Good food, great ambiance - it’s a beautifully designed restaurant.
Their happy hour is a great deal, and their gin and tonics are phenomenal. Everything we ordered was delicious and our waitress took great care of us.
Root has been a favorite go-to spot of mine since the summer they opened. The food is always delicious and there has recently been some new menu additions that are very tasty and seasonal. Would definitely recommend the chickpeas, crispy potatoes, pan con tomate, meatballs, and gnudi. Recently went for brunch for the first time and that was also delicious! The omelette was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were similar to the crispy potatoes on the dinner menu (one of my favs!). Root’s atmosphere is also one of my favorite restaurant designs- so unique and tasteful! Overall awesome place like all of Greg Root’s restaurants!
Great food. Nice ambiance. Excellent service.
The food was creative and delicious. Our server was professional , friendly and knowledgeable. Our entrees were slightly delayed but not enough to complain about. Nevertheless, the manager apologized by providing an excellent cheese board which completed our meal. We would recommend Root and look forward to a return visit.
Great dinner spot, welcoming atmosphere and delicious cocktails.
The experience at Root for brunch was pretty good. The menu is really nice and the service was very good and attentive. It was super hot so we are inside and it was fairly cool and pleasant. The food was pretty good, though I would say it wasn’t as fantastic as some of the all star brunch places in Philly (which set a really high bar)! Definitely a solid reliable option inFishtown though. Really a very cute place ambiance-wise. I would say the highlights were the breakfast potatoes and the strawberry buttermilk cake (I seriously might go back just for that...). Yum! The drinks were pricey because they seemed very watered down and weak, yet cost the same as a high end cocktail anywhere else in the city. NOT a spot if you are determined to enjoy several cocktails.
Limited but very good brunch menu in comfortable setting with congenial and attentive service
We sat at the bar facing the windows, great spot! The bar tender and staff were very friendly and inviting. The food was excellent. Get the chicken liver toast. I want to go back just for that. The chef here really know their stuff. He prawns are good too. Can’t wait to try more options on the menu and their cocktails.
Great food and great atmostphere. If you like to people watch on Frankford Avenue, you will surely like this place.
We were there during a street festival so it was insanely noisy. The best thing about our visit was the food. The zeppoele was incredible.
Love what the chef does with mushrooms!
Always a fine meal with excellent service! We are looking forward to our next visit.
After finishing my wife said “everything we ate was really good. There’s nothing I didn’t like.” That about sums it up. Additionally, small plates and tapas gets pretty expensive but portions were more than fair and relatively inexpensive. Great weekday happy hour on food and drinks. Will come back for sure.
Great spot, my only complaint is the space. It's just so badly arranged. Fitting in tables that obviously don't fit makes for an uncomfortable experience.
Excellent Food and Service-
We return to Root restaurant because, in our experience, every unique dish is superb. From the croquetta and ramp and mushroom zeppoli to the fried chickpeas and morel and ricotta toast, we were delighted.
I cannot emphasize enough how masterfully these dishes are created by the chef, we always are impressed. I highly recommend Root, not only for the varied culinary offerings, but also for the creative cocktails and vast wine choices. Once again, well done!
Always amazing food and service! The chick peas are the best thing I ever ate!
Shared a bunch of plates with friends. The kale salad and the cavatelli were great!
Great experience.
Great time! Great food! We’ll be back to try the rest!
As always, the food and service at Root is impeccable. We especially loved the cheese board, the leafy salad with avocado, the warm olives, and the toasts. Beautiful space, sexy nighttime vibe, gloriously fun servers. Also, this is my fave spot for brunch (ricotta pancakes, Turkish eggs).
Very good food. We shared some small plates for appetizers, and they gave us the happy hour pricing as we arrived just before it ended. For dinner I had an excellent burger. My wife had something that looked quite unusual and tasted great (no idea what it was). For most of the meal the restaurant was extremely noisy as someone a table over was nearly shouting in our direction for an hour. Guess we should have complained. Finally, that party left.
It was our second time at Root and it was even better then the first time! The food is amazing and the wine selection is top notch. We plan on going again!
My wife, Danielle, and I had a really nice time. We live in the neighborhood, but this was our first time actually making it out to Root and we loved it. Ariel was a great server, very friendly and great with guiding us through the menu. Happy hour snacks were killer (That buffalo mozz toast was wizardry). Looking forward to coming back and super excited to check out Suraya. The new Beddia spot is super exciting too. Well done. We’ll see you again soon.
Pleasant meal.Delicious food and cocktails!
Overall it was good, I asked how they serve the gin&tonic thought same as in Spain. However not even close to that. My recommendation just have a visit to Spain to see how it is served ;)
We both ordered a burger. It came with fries. Fries were over salted and the burger was just okay. Expected better as the burger was $15.00.
Very cute restaurant. We went there for brunch, had a great meal
This is a good restaurant with excellent food but what makes it really outstanding is the staff. Amber made our day.
