About Root Down
Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in.
Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.
At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Root Down Ratings and Reviews
After a 40 mins wait for our food, a few bites in; I found a hair wrapped around a piece of tofu as you can see in the picture. Waited a while for the server to come back to our table so I could show her what I found, she sent the manager over who asked if I would like them to remake it? Are you kidding me? By that point my husband had already finished his plate, so ya I'm definitely not interested in taking a chance & waiting around another 40 mins in this noisy room for food that wasn't so great to begin with. The weekend brunch service has always been horribly slow, and after today I definitely won't be going back to Root Down.
I had heard great things about Root Down and so decided to try it out. The waiter was excellent. He explained the food choices and asked if anyone had any allergies. He also had mixed drink recommendations. Our food was delicious! we each tried each other's food and everyone's choice was delicious. Our waiter checked on us several times but not too many. We decided to order dessert that was delicious as well. The atmosphere was very nice and pleasant. There was chatter in our section but it wasn't disrupting. We could carry on conversation without bothering others. It was such a nice cozy setting in an old gas station. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely go again. I would highly recommend Root Down for a nice anniversary dinner or date dinner or small friend gathering.
Love those Colorado Sliders! My dining companion had the roast chicken & he loved it!
Also excellent salads, although 2 of us split a salad & it would have been nice if the kitchen had split it for us. This was my daughter's birthday; we ordered one dessert to share & they did put a candle on the plate but did not comp the dessert. Would have appreciated a comp on the dessert since, between the 3 of us, we had 13 drinks, which is A LOT!
We decided to go here on a date night because my girlfriend eats gluten-free. They had many options along those lines that were still tasty and delicious. We tried the arepas and they were fantastic and a cool spin on something I'm quite familiar with being Colombian. I personally eat anything but decided to try the tofu. It was great and very flavorful, although, I wish that I was given the option of firmness of the tofu, as I usually prefer soft tofu. Our waiter was amicable and attentive. She did a great job.
They were super sweet and comped us a delicious birthday dessert (plus chocolates in case the birthday girl didn’t want to share). We were seated by the door and it was a little chilly, and the music plus acoustics were a bit loud, but overall we enjoyed ourselves!
Had a great night with friends. The special hamachi appie was great, needed more!!!! :). Carissa was attentive and made good suggestions. For dessert, had the special trifle, tasty but it didn't satisfy my need.. maybe it was the cake. Enjoyed the BANANA CRÈME BRÛLÉE PIE dessert, but only got banana from the caramelized banana bits, the salted peanuts in the chocolate crust was delish.
Our meal at Root Down was wonderful! Our server was very informative and helpful, and each of the four of us loved our meals. My only criticism was the varying portion sizes-- my husband's "entrée" of steak was tiny compared to my "small plate" of risotto and scallops. He left a little unsatisfied, though everything was delicious! We would definitely go again.
We were seated when we arrived for Brunch on a Sunday even though we were 10 minutes early which was nice. However, we had to wait over 30 minutes to be served our order. We were given no complementary appetizer like at Linger you get popcorn and food comes so much quicker.
My mother-in-law ordered shrimp and grits but did not realize the grits came in a block, so she was high disappointed and did not like what she got. My husband got brisket which was just average considering it was the highest priced item on menu at $18.
I got veggie burgers and it was supper delicious, I wish i could have had option to change the side of sweet potato fries for salad.
My 2 kids got chicken fingers and gluten-free grilled cheese. Chicken fingers tasted like catfish and side of broccoli seemed like it was cooked in another pan that had soy sauce, so my daughter didn’t eat the only vegetable on her plate :(
Also, again the menu does not tell you that the gluten-free grilled cheese is not on a sandwich bread but a corn based (i think) made slice which you cannot eat with your 2 hands. :(
I had so high hopes for this place but it seemed to fall short, and I don’t think my family will ever want to go back.
We've heard a lot about Root Down, and finally got to try it. I was a little nervous, as I was bringing my 70 plus year old parents, who prefer meat and potatoes. Not only did my wife and I love the food, ma and pa did as well! Everything was wonderfully prepared, very tasty. Dad and I had the flat iron steak, it was cooked to perfection. My wife and mom had the rock fish, it also was outstanding. We had the chopped salad and carbonara risotto as small plates, and they too were outstanding. And to top it off, we had to wait a little bit longer than expected to be seated (but given how busy they were it wasn't really a problem for us), so when we got to our table they had "devil's on horseback" waiting for us as a complimentary small plate. We'd go back again and again and again.
