Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.
At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

It’s been some time since we’ve been to Root Down. But it was even better than we remembered. The ambiance was perfect for a mid-week date/break. The staff were all very attentive and dedicated to our feeling welcome. As my partner has food allergies the menu was very accommodating as was the staff, assuring him that he would be safe from gluten and sesame. We will be back.
My favorite restaurant in all of Denver!
I love the scallops and Devils on Horseback, and I never go without getting a Pepper Blossom to drink.
Nice place for a date. Nice lighting, mood and food was quite good. Had the 3 course chefs offering. Date was vegetarian and found plenty.
The food and drinks here were amazing! I brought my friend here who was visiting town for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was amazingly kind and went out of our way to ensure our meal and experience were perfect. I would definitely recommend Root Down to all my friends.
This was my first time here for brunch, but I'll definitely be back! The food and service were excellent per usual while also pushing the boundaries on your generic brunch favorites. I still think there's something here for everyone but foodies will delight! We enjoyed the fried chicken biscuit with mushroom gravy and it was every bit as savory and delightful as it sounds.
Everything about brunch at Root Down is perfect; the food, drinks, ambiance, service, decor, coffee, dessert etc. couldn't be better. Everything was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. The hosts are great, and Irving is a fantastic server. Couldn't recommend more highly!
Fantastic service. Amazing food.
Had a very noisy neighboring party. Would help if Tables weren’t so close together
Cool spot, nice vibe, food was great. Went there with my 2 kids. Had rezos on a Saturday, and was seated in about 10 min. Unfortunately our food order came out a little wonky. At the first visit with our waiter we ordered our meals. 30 min later the first meal came out, 10 min later the next meal came out, 5 min later my meal came out. Two ladies next to us, who sat down after we did, got their food within about 10 minutes of ordering and were essentially finishing up when the first kids' meal got to us. There was really no explanation. Things happen, I get it. To the manager's credit, he did come out, apologize and deliver the entree personally. They also comped most of the meal. We'll be back. Hopefully next time, less hiccups with the service.
Our server Tiffany was outstanding. She made it one of the best dining experiences I've had!
Our waiter was excellent and the food was top notch, the wine was a bit pricey, and the restaurant decor was very fun
Excellent experience! We arrived early for our 11:30 reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was super attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and meticulously prepared.
Very expensive for the small portions. Would not go back
The food and experience were both amazing! Our favorite dishes were the Lamb Sliders, the Devils on Horseback, and the Cauliflower, but every single dish was flavorful, unique, and delicious. 10/10 would recommend!
Root Down continues to impress. The food and drinks were delicious. Our party of four sipped cocktails, and shared a number of the appetizers and two desserts, and all left satiated with smiles on our faces.
Great service and tasty food!
The ginger red curry soup was flavorful, spicy and complex with the pear chutney. All the food was delicious except the crab avocado tacos. They didn’t have much flavor and the jicama was watery and tasteless. Our server was exceptional.
It was our 15th anniversary and they treated us like royalty. Everyone was aware and was so accommodating! Halfway through the meal we began planning our return visit to try more menu items.
Outstanding food and service. Great substitutions. We had a wonderful time.
My huevos rancheros were the best!!! My other diners were pleased tho the eggs benedict rating was average.
My girlfriend and I wanted to celebrate our first anniversary in Denver by going out to eat, but dietary restrictions (celiac for her, primarily vegetarian for the both of us) generally limit our options. Root Down was mentioned everywhere we looked for suggestions and experience with a couple other Edible Beats offerings (Opehlia's for drinks and Vital Root for food) made our choice easy.
The menu was quite diverse, had ample offerings for vegetarians and celiacs (they use a dedicated fryer!), and also had a bit of everything for other palates. We started off with drinks--the Pepper Blossom was delicious with a good amount of jalapeño flavor but not much spiciness, while the Coconut Ginger Fizz was pleasantly sour and a bit bitter. For dinner, we shared the Carrot & Thai Red Curry Soup (my favorite), Kale & Squash Salad, Colombian Arepas (her favorite), and Tofu “Paneer.” The dishes came out quickly (the soup and salad somehow beat the drinks to the table), were labeled gluten-free, and the portions were bigger than expected. Although dinner did exceed expectations, dessert stole the show. All six offerings were gluten-free (two were also vegan) and sounded so good, we decided to splurge and split the Banana Crème Brûlée Pie, Tiramisu Rice Pudding (her favorite), Dark Chocolate Truffle, and Bergamot Caramel (my favorite thing from the entire evening). I also finished with an espresso that was good but nondescript.
Overall, we could not have asked for a better place to celebrate. On top of the amazing food and attentive service, the staff all signed a Happy Anniversary card for us too! We will absolutely be going back, and will recommend Root Down to anyone who will listen!
An awesome environment with amazing food. I have a lot of food allergies and am usually not able to eat out, but they do an amazing job at making amazing food I can eat.
Great service. Small plates to share is the way to go. The hostess even saved our reservation after I called ahead and mentioned we’d be a few minutes late.
We were very disappointed in Root Down this visit. It took 45” for our food to come to the table after ordering and we watched it sit under the heat lamps probably a good 15” prior. Our food arrived cold. Then when it was sent back, it returned only a little warmer. The manager comped our entrees and we were appreciative of this, but it was still a disappointment.
All time favorite brunch venue. Food and atmosphere are always fabulous!
Food was and always is outstanding. Service was phenomenal, and Paige's attitude/enthusiasm proved to be contagious. Thank you for a great experience!
Our Server Stefan was excellent, very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The bread of the day was banana bread and it fantastic. My friend got the zucchini bread French toast, it was fabulous. I got the avocado toast, it was very delicious. Highly recommend the Bloody Mary.
As great a place for brunch, as it is for Dinner...
It continues to delight with new approaches to old standbys and completely new dishes...done with our health and the planet's health in mind, as well.
We went for brunch on New Year's Day. The brunch menu has some really nice offerings. Service was attentive. All in all, a very good experience.
The food was spectacular and the service was lovely
Great food, as usual. Price fixe menu for NYE was nice, but definitely over-priced.
Delicious food, extraordinary service!
We went for New Years Eve. It was a fairly expensive dinner and while the service was amazing, the food was terrible. Bland flavors in the gnocchi. A quarter of a mushroom cut into thirds as an app, and the desserts were just awful. I don’t think we will go back as this experience fell very flat to our expectations and how much we paid.
We love the place.
Great meal, loved our waitress. We went for brunch and left full and happy. Check out their specials, the cashew quest fi fundido was amazing. We each got bottomless mimosas, and they gave us a full glass of each. We will definitely be going back,
Beautiful spot. I’d go back for the lamb sliders alone but everything was delicious. Service was 5 star as well!
We went for brunch and made it bottomless! The mimosas were delicious!
Our server was attentive and friendly. He told us about the specials right away and we were interested in starting with the vegan queso. Soo good!
I loved that they had a few vegan friendly options available on the menu as well. I ordered the sliders and my boyfriend got the veggie breakfast burrito. Both were delicious!
Will def be returning and I highly recommend it.
I have been to Root Down several times and the food and service have always been excellent.
Delicious food and a very creative menu !
Crazy delicious food & excellent service. Great GF options.
