Great experience! Celebrated our anniversary with a complimentary dessert!!!
Appreciated how careful they are with Covid. Thank you for making safety a priority!!
Great food and atmosphere!
We got there 45 minutes earlier than our reservation time, so we had to wait but we were good with that.
We were seated in a cramped room with 10 other people (5 tables, 2 each). The room was so cramped I didn’t want to take a photo of it to post here in sensitivity to everyone’s privacy.
We ordered the coconut fizz (VERY sour, no hint of coconut), chia ginger lemonElla (tasty), steak and veggie sliders. The drinks came out staggered, but within 10 minutes of ordering.
The food didn’t show up for 50 minutes since we sat at our table. At 45th minute the server offered bread if we were hungry but the bread didn’t show up either as she went about serving other tables (forgot that she had offered?)
Not Covid safe, slow service, 50% chance of getting a good drink.
We had an amazing dinner. The food was fresh with so much flavor and creativity. We ordered the beet salad, carrot gnoochi, rock fish and moroccaan chicken and all dishes were delicious. The restaurant did a great job of social distancing and keeping restaurant clean and safe. Will definitely return on next visit to Denver.
I made a reservation for my birthday brunch weeks in advance, and did not request the patio, because I know October weather can be unpredictable. Sunday turned out to be a briskly chilly day, and we were seated on the patio even when I protested, which was disheartening because we watched people who had no reservations being seated inside before and after we were seated. I was never given an explanation, and it felt rude and unwelcoming especially considering it was my birthday. Our server was very good, but the overall experience was poor due to the attitude of your hostess and uncaring attitude around the whole situation.
We are from out of town and had a great time here!! Food and drinks were great and not over priced. They were very clean inside. Tiffany was amazing! Best service we’ve had here!
830 Reservation wasn’t ready when we arrived. We finally took a different table at 9 being so hungry. Waitress wasn’t real prompt coming to our table for drink order. Ordered 2 drinks and a beet salad. Decided to go elsewhere for dinner. Wasn’t too impressed with good choices overall.
Always a pleasant experience. If you're thinking about going but unsure... Just go, you will not be disappointed.
Absolutely delicious! My only complaint is that my steak was cold but the rest of the food was delicious. The Colombian crapes our favorite!!! Sarah was an awesome waitress and we really appreciated her excellent service. Definitely coming back in a future when I visit Denver again. I am coming from Los Angeles, CA.
Enjoyed the creative dinner, appetizer and desert.
We enjoyed our time on the patio!
The server and the food were both amazing!
We shared several plates and kept it mostly vegan, the flavors that come out of the food here are next-level awesomeness. The wine list is also incredible, great options and experienced one of the best wines I've tasted.
We had late breakfast And was so well done and delicious. Our server even made the experience even better !
We are from Dallas and Boston ... foodies 🧐
Great waitress. Good social distancing. Probably could use a heater soon for the outdoor dining area.
Lamb burgers were good. Steak dish was not tender.
I have to say this is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. And I’ve eaten here three weeks in a row. The food is incredible you want to keep tasting every dish they have. Even I never like mushrooms and I loved their omelette with mushrooms go figure you can trust anything they serve you. The people are great the environment is trendy and fun but casual and contemporary every restaurant should aspire to be like root down. And I swear I was not paid to say this
Birthday, told waiter he really didnt care
First timer on the recommendation of my daughter. I’m a vegan and really appreciated the variety on the menu. Food was delicious, service excellent and prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of the entrees.
Very fun the waiters were super friendly.
By far the meal was the most disappointing part of the evening. The chicken dish was not very good and half of the plate was empty the sangria did not taste like sangria but it taste like grapefruit. The desert mixed berries and cream was tart and bland, more bitter. And a mild warning would’ve helped to let us know that there would be a Covid surcharge and what that represents.
Service was attentive. Meal was a mix of great tastes and excessive flavors. Some of the dishes were spot on: Burrata, Rock Fish, others it seemed there was "too much" going on when keeping it simple may have been a better option (Lamb Burger). Due to COVID we were advised of the need to clear our table within 1.5 hours. Seems reasonable, but wasn't expecting an $8.00 COVID fee on top of our meal. We were celebrating a birthday and when we declined desert, the wait staff insisted on bringing something to the table. We relented, and then ultimately got charged for what we perceived to be complimentary truffles. Not sure if the confusion was on our side, but seemed to be in poor form. The venue is nice, especially if you are along the rail where you can people watch the busy neighborhood. The wine selection is very limited, so we opted for a couple of drinks that were very good. Ultimately, a slightly overpriced decent meal, but nothing that I would need to repeat anytime soon.
Wonderful food , service , atmosphere and attention to Covid detail.
Perfect spot for a night out. Their COVID protocols were the best I have seen and immediately set us at ease for a meal on their lovely patio. The ambiance was perfect. From the amuse-bouche, to the cocktails, the three dishes we ordered, and the salted truffle and passion fruit caramel mignardises to end the meal, every bite was delectable. Honestly, I don't think I have had a meal that delicious from start to finish before. I recommend the Columbian Arepas especially--they are made with smoked gouda and achiote crema. Totally blown away and definitely recommend!
Really great food. Unique and diverse menu options. Plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians, or meat eaters. The patio seating was really nice!
The rock fish is always so good
We enjoyed our dinner at root down, but the portion sizes were ridiculously small. We all left paying for a full meal and hungry.
Calm & relaxing spot. Great options and very sanitary.
Friday brunch at Root Down is my favorite! Awesome food and it's just so chill
I was here before for dinner and was disappointed by the lunch menu - or I should say the brunch menu, because on a Thursday that it is all they propose.
What we got was good but not memorable (I have to make an effort to remember it was the lamb burger) and the dessert was supposed to be a cobbler and it ended up being just cereals with some sugary topping.
Been wanting to try their Highland location after a friend introduced me to their airport restaurant. Food was outstanding, but the servings were delicate and small for the prices paid. Especially the veggie offerings! I love the vibe and want to like them, so would try again and hope for a better (non-COVID) experience.
Excellent! Will go back again to try other entrees on the menu.
Root Down is beautiful inside and out. Set up very well for social distancing. The check in process was comfortable and the service was excellent. The food...absolutely delicious! Wine and beer selection was very good. Would definitely go back.
Excellent! Definitely get the scallops as a small plate. Best dish there!
Incredible flavor in every dish - attention to detail in the cocktails was also outstanding
Delicious as always....still a little closer to others than I would like. I was outside against wall so only about 2 ft from the people seated insoors.
Well, we were very much looking forward to this reservation. Unfortunately, the "bar seating" we had was at a ledge about a foot deep facing a wall in between the bathrooms, the wait staff station, and the end of the bar. We weren't prepared to spend the experience facing a wall with the staff serving us from behind, so we each had a cocktail, split the bacon wrapped dates app (Final bill was $50), and went to another restaurant for dinner. In all fairness, when we arrived before we were seated, the hostess did offer us a high-top but it was outside and getting chilly. Restaurants have to be inventive in this COVID age when it comes to social distancing, I get it, but I just didn't feel I'd be getting the same dining experience as everyone else in this situation. Hopefully, we'll get to try again sometime.
The food was good and we loved the mimosas, but I was not ok with the Covid Safety Surcharge! I don't know how you can charge people for something they weren't informed about beforehand. I know you and every other restaurant has been hit hard but you need to take it up with the mayor & governor. They are the ones imposing this BS on businesses. People like me are trying to help you by eating at your restaurant but to pay a "covid surcharge" is a slap in the face!
